am i the only one that thinks this subforum has been a bit messy as of late? had to go trough like 4 threads just to find the pain/daiji combo video because they werent in the combo thread, or the oki thread, and the video thread is actually half discussion, half videos during the whole last page...

 

on another note just wanted to mention that ill transcribe all the 5kk oki options next week because they are quite important, nobody has done it, and i will finally be out in vacations (or at least done with finals).

We play Ramlethal, we are just messy people.

Unless we get another mod/forum assistant, we'll have to make do with what we have, which sucks for new players trying to learn this character.

Daiji recently wrote up a ton of twitter posts after doing a livestream. Anyone know how to read Japanese? After putting it into machine translator, this is what I got:

I think this is unnecessary by now since Daiji posted a video about these combos already. Could someone delete this post, or tell me how to delete it lol?

A weird thing I noticed is that my old crumble oki combos did 234dmg off j.K and 240 off 2D. Now, it's 199 and 187 respectively.

Leaving the huge damage gap aside, why the hell does the 2D variant do less damage lol. Is it because its P1 got nerfed, while j.K's intact?

Also having to use Toranshi to get the same damage we used to get meterless ayy

 

2D is nerfed, in vanilla it didn't have any starting proration. Now it's at 90% or 80%, can't remember. So starting combos with 2D is definitely weaker.

 

This is not too bad actually because most of the cast had proration on their 2D, but not ram for some reason even though she could combo so easily from it.

That Brown tier scared away Karinchu and Dei. All that's left is Daiji and that other dude, Batako or something like that. I feel the nerfs but I'm not sure if we're really that low now. Lol at being one tier above Pot lololol

Ram and Axl pretty much traded places.

 

Ram still got S-tier butt so I'm sticking with her.

I'm pretty sure I've used calvados more times today alone than I used it in total before the patch.

You can do 2KK > Calvados for 79 dmg

Throw > Calvados for 90 dmg (Kills a Sol with 10% hp)

Airthrow > Calvados for 100 dmg

6K > PK1K > Calvados - 103 dmg

 

And if you have 100 meter, why not

6K > 5PP2K > Exploder > Calvados - 136 dmg (works midscreen on chars Ram can chain 6K > 5P)

 

6K > PPK > PK4K > KPK > PPP > calvados - 144 dmg (Creds to g1Gilgamesh for this one)

As far as tierlists go,i think it's early to judge where Ramlethal fits in,considering the amount of changes that she received.She's definitely weaker after the patch,but people need to relearn how to use her properly;especially her neutral with the new sword nerfs.New tech is being discovered though,which needs to be implemented in her gameplay.I think that there is room for her in A tier.Wish Daiji went to Mikado to see how he fairs against the top competition.

For me, the only thing that sucks about Ramlethal is that she gives opponents their burst back way too fast, negating some of her 1 touch death from setplay potential. Her neutral game is pretty bad as well and getting clean hits in can be pretty difficult.

 

Keep in mind that many top JP players quit Ramlethal after the patch dropped, so it's entirely possible that Ogawa and Sharon are basing their tier lists off popular opinion and have not actually played against the character much at all. Personally, I don't believe that a character who only needs 1 clean hit to get in and possibly end the game from there could ever be the 2nd worst character in the game.

 

Also, Japan has only had the game for about a couple of months or so. The last time I went to Japan in February they were still playing vanilla Xrd in arcades.

My biggest gripe with current Ram is that if she's setting swords in the corner during a combo and opponent bursts you lose your swords entirely for 2 seconds ++ before you even can retrieve them. It's a really shitty situation.

I hate how even blocking causes your swords to drop. Then you're flailing around trying to get position or a sword back, let alone get a summon out. It's tough, you really have to capitalize on everything.

I didn't know how to neutral in vanilla but at least I could do more stuff than poke with f.S and mash j.A

Now it's pretty much only f.S and j.A lmao

 

It's really awkward to behave in neutral like a more traditional character, mainly because it's hard as shit to convert anything outside of oki and punishes

 

I guess we all need to watch some old Karinchu footage, too bad I never found him interesting :v:

Thats always going to be bad having active sword fall. I believe the worst part is not the fact they fall but you need to be out of hit stun before swords goes into the recovery state; so even if you recover after a kd or a burst you need to wait the extra frames for swords to recover to retrieve them. Meaning your put into a much worst situtation.

I haven't even been playing the game recently but I believe this is like 100% false. If swords are active and you get hit, they simply fall to the floor and recover after a set period of time even if you are still being combo-ed midway.

 

Anyway, I think using Trance ignores sword state (I haven't actually tested this out yet but IIRC I did it in a match), so if you ever find yourself needing some space, I suppose throwing it out might be a good idea. Might be good in re-establishing the corner game too if your opponent bursts out of the corner and you watch out for aerial escapes.

Also, Japan received the 1.1 update in arcades on March 19th, so they've had it for 9 weeks now.  Certainly not enough time to explore EVERYTHING by any means, but long enough that I'd feel calling these lists informed first impressions from these players.
