SKD, that combo works because the hit stun decay isn't based on proration anymore.

Dash 5B>22C probably only works if you're close to the corner.

Hmmmm, I think the Keriage ruins the damage a little bit with it's P2. If he was probably closer to the corner at the time the j.C hit, he might have been able to do a better combo.

Does anyone know if TK Blood Scythe induces knockdown status? Cause that'd be cool if it did.

it does and j.214d>dash 5b>22c looks like shud work fine anywhere if they didnt change the hitbox

Now all I need to know is if Hell's Fang picks them up midscreen off 22C high enough to be able to connect with 5B.

Like, I was thinking things like

5B > 3C > 22C > 214A > 5B > 6A > whatever man. Just brainstorming midscreen confirms.

I never really used cross up Inferno Divider, but I'm pretty sure D Divider's untech time got a buff or something, he was able to rapid, land, and catch them with 5C.

Yeah, there's an example of cross-up 623D(1) (RC) into dash 3C in the combo thread.

214D or QCB+D, air OK

Ragna's sword turns into a scythe as Ragna leaps into the air and performs a wide circular slash. Very slow to start-up, but recovery is surprisingly brief. Aerial version is safe on block and enables Mada owari ja nee zo use on hit. Has a large hitbox and can easily cross the opponent up if performed too close. Ground version has Fatal Counter property. Ground bounces slightly on air hit.

Damage: 1200 (1400), 900 (1100) if performed whilst airborne

Let's not also forget that 22C lost fixed damage.

DBD has no reason for doing dumb damage in CP since ragna no longer losses HP before using it. Think about it, in every version of the game DBD could only be done in BK. So ragna would generally lose Hp due to BK (But not really) and then would regain more Hp then when he started.. Which in a way is kinda redundant since the hp loss was suppose to rationalize his high damage.

I agree that DBD doesn't need to do huge damage anymore, but mostly because of the meter commitment required. In previous games, you really needed 100% meter to do it raw (50 for BK, 50 for DBD). Now it's just 50, so the regular non-OD version being weaker is understandable, though I don't like that it's blockable.

I don't think the HP loss was intended to rationalize the high damage, it was mostly a deterrent for just doing the move outright. It would be Genei-Jin otherwise, there'd be no reason not to do it. If he didn't have the additional health regain from DBD and his other buffed Drive moves during BK, nobody would do it unless you were guaranteed to KO the other guy.

There are plenty of BK combos that can recover 50 Heat during the combo, but I think the designers tend to look at the game from multiple angles/playstyles and so the consideration of raw DBD needing to be strong for the meter cost is probable. BK combos tend to be rarer at higher levels of play anyway since most of them aren't very Burst-safe (Ragna's not very Burst-safe in the first place) and they tend to be much easier/stronger near or in the corner.

You can still get better mileage off Crush Trigger combos.

And we have yet to see 50 heat gain combos during Blood Kain Idea, since heatgain scales now.

That's not as big of a deal, since 50 heat isn't required to use Blood Kain idea now.

I'm totally just pulling shit out of my ass right now, since I have no idea how fast OD activation actually is (it looks pretty much instant though), but

WHAT IF WE COULD DO COOL THINGS LIKE 5B > 3C > OD > j.C > j.D OR SOMETHING.

first of all, even without OD in between that link is already character specific, secondly 3C JC OD DP doesnt connect iirc. i dont knowabout OD cancel, maybe.

For now until I see more Overdrive development, when I get this game I'll just stick to prioritizing my damage and game whilst ignoring it.
