So, I'm really excited for P4AU in September, but I've never really played a Persona/BlazBlue type game. Is it worth playing the original that's out in the US to get ready for the sequel or should I just wait because there are significant changes? Also, where would you suggest starting to learn this game? I'm mostly coming from Marvel, so this is an entirely brand new engine to me.

I would say it's worth playing. Everything that you learn in P4U will carry over to P4U2. You'll just be adjusting to the changes like everyone else.

If you need/want learning resources, check out the Dustloop Wiki. Don't forget to ask questions in your character's subforum either.

Last time I checked, the game was dirt cheap, so buying it might be worth it if you play and train a lot before Ultimax comes out.

Thanks everyone! I went ahead and nabbed it from a friend who didn't want it anymore. Here's to not sucking by the time September rolls around.

I picked up this game when it first came out but I haven't played in about two years, and I wasn't that good in the first place, so I'm pretty much just like you, starting fresh, learning everything again. If you want someone to spar with add illness690 on psn.

@theguy2687, @Whimsikal, @illness690: You guys playing online? I'm getting back into it and I really didn't play it, so I wanted to find some competition that was figuring out things like I am.

I'm HuyDucTran on PSN.

May I jump on the sparring train too? I definitely need to brush up on everything Persona related.

Will-o-Fortune on PSN.

I'm in Atlanta (but back in Alabama for August)

I'm in the same boat. I played casually when P4A first came out and was never very good. I've decided to get back in to it.

I'm generally on in the evenings during the week and random times on the weeked. PSN: nilcam.

I'll add everyone posted before me tonight.

I'm down, you guys want to schedule something? It's hard for me to come on at random times versus just coming on at a certain time.

Weekdays I'm usually guaranteed at 8 Eastern (BS often occurs where I have to work late and WALK back to the place lol). Weekends I'm virtually good for 20 out of 24 hours lol.

I'm a kinda mid-tier meh scrub player in Georgia, would you mind if I send you a FR to play some matches sometime?

Same question goes to many of the other new-ish players on this thread

I'd be down for any games guys (especially if I have a date/time to play online)! Gotta let my significant other know about these things nowadays.

Scheduling time works best for me as well. Does 7pm Central sound good to anyone?

Posted

nilcam: I generally can't do times before 6:30PM Pacific, so I guess 8:30PM your time. You around on any days to do that?

Posted

Whenever any of you see me on, please, send an invite.  If I can't go, I'll message back.  But usually I'm ok on evenings, if I don't have life stuff going on

I'm new to FGs and totally free, but if anyone feels like bodying me so I can learn, that'd be awesome. I'm usually around evenings during the week, most of the day and night on weekends. No pressure if we're online at the same time; I don't expect anyone to drop other shit for a match.

PSN is mixedmethods. Just tell me you're from Dustloop P4A if you add me. I'll try to add the rest of you guys tonight or tomorrow (with a warning about who I am, obviously).

If we can find a common time I could try hosting a training room regularly once or twice a week...?

For some reason, I simply can't get into this game.  It just doesn't interest me as much as GG or BB or even MB

Posted

Yeah, let's plan for next week. When are you guys around? I can do any weeknight if I have a time after 6:40PM Pacific as long as I know about it beforehand.

@StylisH: Maybe play a more rush-down character?

Posted

It's not the characters, just the flow of the game for some reason.  It's difficult to explain.

That's funny, because I started anime with P4A, loved it, picked up BBCSE and just couldn't get into it. My opponents always felt just out of reach. I'm a lot better at it now, and I'm really digging BBCP. I just needed that "a-ha" moment to get through the shnide.
