SoulGuitarist replied to Fistmaster049's topic in Ragna the Bloodedge
Ah! I see! Hmmm may I have an example of what kind of combo you would do and what kind of oki you get? Forgive me if these are silly questions. I been playing Ragna since CP but CF is the first game where I been actually observing, exploring, trying really hard to up my game. Sent from my KYOCERA-C6745 using Tapatalk -
Ragna the Bloodedge Q&A and FAQ
SoulGuitarist replied to Fistmaster049's topic in Ragna the Bloodedge
I been watching and played a few really good Ragna players and I noticed something that I really don't understand. It seems that Super jump j.A is very common especially in some higher level arcade footage. What are that main reasons to use it? Why is it used pretty frequently when initiating a jump? Anyone of you guys going to Summer Jam? Should totally compete in Pokken. Sent from my KYOCERA-C6745 using Tapatalk

Welcome to the forum, @raddley ! A good bit of the Philly players have stopped playing because the spot where most of them played closed. However, since you're looking to get better at GG, you're in luck! A few players are trying to rebuild the anime scene via Discord! Let me know if you want the link! For now, alot of the players organize sessions at each other's houses however if you feel uncomfortable going over to stranger's houses to play, Big E Gaming's assistant, Kyle, is trying to organize an Anime bi-weekly tournament series at Devnuts! As to when the first session is? Still up in the air. He's just trying to make it happen but you'll be the first I'll let know since no one else is active in this board much anymore... My main games are Guilty Gear, Vampire Savior, and Pokken!

Revelator and Pokken at EVO? Definitely going now. Besides it's pretty much my only chance before college. Anyone else planning on going to EVO?

Ayyeeee Flipnote! I had no idea you were from around here! Welcome to the Philly thread!

I was looking through old recordings from before I stopped playing BB and found this. Not sure if it's useful. 5B > 5C > 2C > 623D~236C~236C > wall splat > 66 > 2C > 5D >236D > 5B > 5C > 5D > 22C > 623C~236C~214D Mid-screen. Depending on the character hitbox may have to be a little bit towards corner but overall VERY near mid-screen. Probably can be done in corner. 4000 dmg exactly. Meterless.

I've haven't been posting here lately because of winter break and alot of new things have happened. Firstly, Sceptile has been added to the cast with new assists (Not much of a surprise) The official cover art for the standard game as well as the bundle box has been revealed (For JP version): https://sickr.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/pokken_tournament_small_box_art.png?w=840 If you live in Japan and if you pre-order from a Pokemon Center store, you will receive a figure based on Lucario's P2 color. Info: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/2015/12/151218_p01.html and probably the most exciting news is that HORI is making a controller based on the arcade controller AND it's releasing to the US as well. Pre-orders on Amazon can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Pokken-Tournament-Limited-Controller-Nintendo-u/dp/B019QB4SL0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451920802&sr=8-1&keywords=HORI+pokken No US official release date has yet to be announced. I'll try to update as much as possible

Hi Daramue. Some of the players do play regularly and meet up at their homes. The players used to play at Classic Game Junkie's game lounge in Glenside but unfortunately the store got rid of the gaming lounge to have more store space as far as I know. Since the change, it's only occasionally they play. Unfortunate because I never got the chance to come out for one of the meet ups at Game Junkies. Alot of the players here play Arcana Heart 3 competitively and play BBCP on occasion. I used to play BB but not much anymore. My main games are GGxrd and Vampire Savior but if you would like to netplay sometime, let me know.

Anyone here going to NEC, getting there Friday night, and would be down for playing some Xrd and Vsav? I have other games we could play too. VF5FS, VF2, Skullgirls, Fighting Vipers, Sonic the Fighters, +R, and a few other titles I don't remember on the top of my head. My one buddy is bringing his Wii U so we can play SSB4 too. On the night of, just contact me on Twitter or this thread and I'll send you my room number so we can play some sets for some games.

If you enjoy Blazblue, play Blazblue. The games you'll see more improvement in are the ones that you actually enjoy. I play Vampire Savior and almost no one in my community plays the title besides me. A few pick it up but don't necessarily enjoy it. Pretending to like a game and getting competitive level is indeed possible. However, actually liking the title and learning it seems to see more progress and overall is just more fun. I tried "forcing" myself to play again and sometimes I ended up enjoying it in the end while others I just have zero care for. If you have zero care/enjoyment for the game, don't play it. Put the time your using into playing a game you don't enjoy but has a community in your area and use it for a game that may not be popular in your area (In this case, BB)and you actually enjoy so when (if) the time ever comes you decide to compete in a major, you'll have fun and have the chance at doing well along with also learning things from other players. Like @Mumm-Ra said, it's just a video game and video games are meant to be fun. Both casually and competitively.

As some of you may know (or don't), the official Pokken twitter announced that a new character would be revealed on December 10th. This in particular may be old news but something interesting has come to surface. A recent photo one of the Pokenchi (A talk show about Pokemon. Sorta like the BLAZBLUE RADIO series but on Television as well) posted on Twitter might already have revealed the new character as well as new assists, Sceptile as the new character and Electrode and Farfetch'd for the assists.

Pre-orders, both Physical and Digital, are now available on GameStop's website: http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/games/pokken-tournament/126796?cid=fds_10000777&CAWELAID=120192760000034196&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=120192760000015274&cadevice=c&gclid=CNTv-6aUoMkCFYEdHwodhN4JbA I wonder if that means you can now pre-order it in stores as well... Best-Buy has it up now too: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pokkn-tournament-nintendo-wii-u/4737862.p?id=bb4737862&skuId=4737862 For now that's pretty much it until we hear a set release date for the NA release which I think will be soon since everyone is preparing the Europe pre-orders. Even the official Pokemon website's Pokken section changed slightly. My guess is we'll hear something regarding the NA/EU release dates next week or sometime next month

After getting bodied by a JP Jedah and watching a few in lobbies on PSN, I learned a few new things that haven't been discussed here much. Firstly, the importance of approaching using his float. After a dash on the ground, Jedah ascends into the air for a few seconds. (Everyone likely knows that part. Lol) If you set the stick back into neutral, he descends. During this time, he can press a normal (j.MP if you are further away from the other player. j.MK If you are closer.) to float slightly forward. You can even link the two together ( j.MP > j.MK / j.MK > j.MP) while descending to land back down on the ground and can do one of his grounded strings. Though, the timing for chaining the two seems wonky. It's probably safer to do j.MP while descending, land, then play from there but if you can learn it, It's very good. Some of the Japanese players do a neutral jump after landing and try to hit with j.MK to start a combo. I only started seeing Jedah's do it recently. Characters with solid anti-airs though can beat it out. I think after awhile players will know to beat it out or dash out and it will become useless. They will likely go back to continuing the blockstring when they land. I think a good variation of the reset/open-up to possibly to experiment with would be to jump and do j.236P (Depending on you position on screen, that would determine which variation of the scythe you would throw out. I would probably do j.236MP at mid-screen and either j.236MP/HP in corner depending on character size) Maybe you can connect j.MP after and confirm a combo if your luck with the IAD. Another thing I saw is semi impractical but rewarding. EX 236P whiff combos are a thing. They aren't set-up often because of how unlikely you can confirm into depending on your spacing but if someone challenges 5MK, there is a chance they can get knocked into it and you get a free combo. I don't think it's practical outside of novice/semi-intermediate play.

Japanese release for the Wii U port is slated for 3/18/15. 7,200 yen for physical copy and 6,800 yen for digital copy. First print copies contain an amiibo card which automatically unlocks Shadow Mewtwo where normally you would have to meet certain conditions to unlock him. As to what the conditions are? It may possibly be just defeating him in arcade mode when he appears (Which can only be done on hard. Not sure if continues mean anything to get him appear) Along with that, Japan is also receiving a Wii U bundle which contains the console and the game (likely pre-installed). I would assume all bundles contain the amiibo card but who knows. Information on the amiibo card can be found here: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/ex/pokken_wiiU/news/151113_02.html Pre-orders for both the Japanese and North American physical versions are up on Play-Asia: -JP: http://www.play-asia.com/pokken-tournament/13/709eh7 -NA: http://www.play-asia.com/pokken-tournament/13/709go5 If you want to buy digital version off the JP eShop, You can get eShop yen cards here: 5,000 yen: http://www.play-asia.com/nintendo-network-card-ticket-5000-yen-for-japanese-network-onl/13/705239 3,000 yen: http://www.play-asia.com/nintendo-network-card-ticket-3000-yen-for-japanese-network-onl/13/704a2w *Also, as of 11/12/15 as I'm writing this, Japanese eShop credit is on sale.* You COULD buy a 5,000 yen cards and two 1,000 yen cards but for the price, you mind as well just save the extra $8 and get an extra 1,000 yen to take advantage of the sale. Alternatively, you can pre-order the NA version, Physical or Digital, on Amazon as well: -Physical: http://www.amazon.com/Pokken-Tournament-Wii-U/dp/B017W175Y8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447681139&sr=8-1&keywords=pokken -Digital: http://www.amazon.com/Pokk%C3%A9n-Tournament-Wii-Digital-Code/dp/B017WJYITK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1447681139&sr=8-2&keywords=pokken It seems although the JP release has a set date, The North American version (Europe likely as well) date is still up in the air. Amazon has a placeholder date of December 31st, 2016 (Which is no where near spring. Lol) while Play-Asia lists it for sometime in June. I'm hoping it's same day technically like X&Y or at least make it like P4U2 where it's only a month later. Maybe even closer to JP release as it does not contain a giant text based story mode they would need to translate like P4U and BBCP. They only need to translate Nillia's (the announcer) voice clips to English (if they decide to), the text that appears for her, and change the Pokemon names to their English names.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm27484979 Mewtwo battle. I wonder if this will be a console exclusive character (in terms of being playable) then added a playable in the AC version later on

Command grabs ayeeeee! I'm very excited for the Wii U port. I'm hoping they announce the dates for the D&B location tests soon. I hope DLC will be made for the game to make up for the clone character.

Sent a follow request on Twitter. I haven't played it very much but I'm down. I played a match or two with Fujiwario and got bopped. I hope to learn more though.

This thread is dead but I play Vampire Savior pretty often now since I got Vampire Resurrection from the PSN. One of the things I found useful with Jedah is: 236P+P (blocked) > j.MP > 2LK > 2LK > 22P+P Almost seems impossible to react to it majority of the time (or at least the people I played never avoided it). I think the 2LK x2 conditions the other player to block low and keep blocking low and since 2K has fast recovery, 22PP can be done almost instantly afterwards. You can go into EX j.P after 22P+P ends but I just recommend doing the normal version. 3 meter is enough already. Only use EX if you can win the round if 236P+P hits, I think the go-to combo should be 236P+P > j.HK > 2LK > 2MP > 5MK > 2HP Could replace j.HK with j.MP. j.MP is easier to connect and continue the combo but doesn't always work on the entire cast due to hitboxes.

Oh? I cleaned up my channel but didn't mean to remove this vid. My apologies. Really it's just showing how you can avoid Lambda's distortion using OD for a free FC using the combo.
-
I know this place is the Arcana Hub so I just thought I would tell you guys I got AH3:LM (NA). I think it's... interesting. I don't love it but I would be willing to learn it more. So far, I think Eko is the only character I like. Akane possibly too. Down for Netplay/Skype if anyone wants to play.

I been occasionally doing this VS Lambda/Nu when the player does wake-up 632146D in corner near the end of the match when my health is semi low.Sorta situational but it helped me a few matches. OD > 623D FC > 5C > 6D > jc > j.C > j.214C > 5B > 5C > 5D > 236D > 5C > 5D > 214214D 6260 dmg

I always heard that Carmine was essentially the same in this version other than his damage getting toned down, 3C being chargeable for more length and the puddle in the air. He definitely doesn't do as much damage anymore but his pressure is still there from what I know. Players have to work harder now.
-
I think you may want to ask this on a cosplay forum or see if there is a thread in Zepp Museum for cosplay. Most people are here to discuss Carmine's gameplay and changes. There was a group who cosplayed UNIB Hyde and Carmine but unfortunately, I don't remember who they were.
