Monarch Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Now the big question is; Nu or Lambda? Edit: Does anyone recognize the move Nu is doing in the left picture? I think it's *nu*.
Starlight777 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I can't wait to see how Lambda's drive attacks differ from Nu's. I'm getting the feeling it's just going to be the properties that's unique to Dia and Luna now. Wait, if Nu loses mode change does this mean she loses the use of 236B and 236C? Lambda's inclusion could have possibly sent Nu back to the old days of hardcore zoning.
Leopold Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Yo did you guys saw this? It seems nu is getting split from the modes https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BspxBNWCYAANuX-.jpg:large
GEKKA Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 They kinda took this in a direction I don't think any of us saw coming. I'm not sure how I feel about the removal of the mode change. While I didn't really enjoy it, it seems kinda off to me. Maybe they'll make Nu's zone game super buff though?
Myoro Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Ever consider that Nu could get redesigned too in the upcoming edition/patch that comes along with adding Lambda? What if they gave them both their own unique tools, (Lamb-chops gets Luna form stuff, Noodles-13 gets Dia stuff) and added additional tools that complement their individual playstyles? Nu could finally have a non-schizophrenic playstyle again. They kinda took this in a direction I don't think any of us saw coming. I'm not sure how I feel about the removal of the mode change. While I didn't really enjoy it, it seems kinda off to me. Maybe they'll make Nu's zone game super buff though? I saw it coming... They HAVE to buff them both somehow. I suspect they'll both be getting new moves, Lambda to complement her new drive, and Nu to make up for the 236 inputs that no longer exist (and maybe her 22A input too...)
GEKKA Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 They have to buff them to make them feel complete. That'd be really lame if they just threw out two half characters essentially. I'm excited to see how they do it. Does it detail the new drive at all?
susano Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Yeeeees, no more mode change! :P They better buff Lambda and Nu then. -rubs hands together-
GreekAngel Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 So Nu loses mode change and Lambda is basically gonna be Luna Nu? My hype has clearly died, may it RIP in piece. But on a serious note, this seems like a VERY lazy as fuck decision that they made. It just feels like all the Murokumos are just designed to do one thing only... Zone and annoy the fuck out of everyone. I mean, we could like... get... wallbounce on Luna 236D to do stuff with, I guess? it just doesn't seem like a good way to go about this, but lets see where this leads.
Monarch Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I haven't lost hope yet, they still have a chance to do something unique with Lambda, and I hope they do.
zaeris Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 It's like i don't care what they do to lambda but don't touch nu13
AchedSphinx Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 So Nu will have a new 236A/B/C/D maybe even a new 22A. Since Nu will do less damage because of no mode change, her new ability would probably have to compliment some kind of full screen ranged play. I'm assuming she will keep Calamity Sword, but who knows, they might remove it and make it so only Lambda has it. So to balance this properly, Nu will probably need the damage boost Lambda gets, and Nu also needs oki somehow. Without Lambda/Luna mode she doesn't have the wheel now, so I'm going to guess that one of her new 236x's will be oki related. The only version of Nu that wasn't oki focused was CT Nu and I don't think they'll go that route. Either way, she should still be a superior zoner. If Lambda is similar to Nu in any capacity, she will be poor at zoning, but should do superior damage and oki to compensate. Lambda doesn't lose many abilities though. Hopefully they bring back the 214D~C and 236D~C abilities from Nu, but time will tell I suppose. At any rate, Lambda in that picture was how I imagined Nu would look in BBCP. Since Nu died and was impaled and was injured, I figured she'd look like someone who went through hell and back and was covered in battle wounds. So I'm somewhat pleased if Lambda retains that image.
toanenadiz Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I would figure they would make Nu not have oki since that was one of the biggest differences between Nu and Lambda. I wonder how similar Nu and Lambda are though. Like would it be easy to essentially main both of them or if you would have to pretty much focus on one or the other.
SoWL Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I thought all the CS archives would be moved over here

Yeah, I could see Nu not having oki as a part of her gameplan. Though I'm not sure how it'd work. She's had oki for so long, it seems like a natural thing. I suppose she would be more closer to CT Nu then. Either way, I'll end up maining both of them.
BloodWolF Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Well, I'm sad. I hope they show off some new abilities for each of them. I really enjoyed the mode switch.
pokemonblaze234 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Nooooo i want my mode change ;~; Now I'm depressed. Mode change is so fun. I feel your pain for spending all of that time on getting those combos right that have 22A in them. I don't even know what to do at this point on
Daramue Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Damn. No mode change, seriously? I was really hyped before but I feel like I got shot in the gut. Having playing Nu/Lambda since CT, I can say that I've felt this was her most versatile and interesting version yet - the best of both worlds (CT Nu and CS Lambda). Again, damn.
BloodWolF Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I can only hope now that they give it to us early. Octoberish for arcades and some console love shortly thereafter. I know this is a longshot, but this would be the third time I've gone to Japan only to be denied high level play because of major Nu changes that have yet to be released in the US. God..this lack of mode switching just ruins my day. Yesterday, I was kind of looking forward to learning a new sub. Today, I'm having to learn two full characters again. Why couldn't they have just taken one of my kidneys or something instead..
ElegantShadow Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Now that I think about it. What are they going to do with their ODs? Having two identical ones would just be a tad... disappointing. That aside, OH MY GOODNESS, they did it! They separated them! I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I mean, Mode Change wasn't exactly my strong suit, so I won't miss it much, but I do know that tons of people are both used to it and loved it, so it's sad to see that group will have to choose between the two now. Hmm... I could see Nu getting some very interesting new tools from this split, however. I'd love to see something like a trap move to help control space. *Sigh* Information just doesn't come quick enough. Also, I love Lambda's portrait, but now I'm curious... Will both count in German? XD
Speakeasy Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Are we sure Nu is losing her mode change? Just making sure.
Tokkan Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Are we sure Nu is losing her mode change? Just making sure. Yes, we are.
Speakeasy Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Like I said, just making sure. Well shit. This is just perfect.
AchedSphinx Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Are we sure Nu is losing her mode change? Just making sure. Just gonna quote this from the CP News Forum. This is what is written on the photo. 最新バージョンではラムダ、ニューともに、モードチェンジが存在しない。 (in the new version Lambda, together with Nu, does not have mode change.) Also, check out Lambda's new swords. They look pretty cool. http://www.famitsu.com/images/000/057/209/53c4b83120283.html Oh and it looks like Lambda will have new attack animations based on how her j.2D looks in that image. The character models don't look that different though.
