Kyle Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Notice to the All-Star 3V3 Carl team. Keep up with the thread! http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7695 It begin in (12) days.
Prophet Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Thanks for the matches tonight zoogs, they were a lot of fun! I still need to learn Carls BnBs. Right now I sort of just come up with stuff as I go.
Zoogstin Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Yeah man GGs. He has a lot of combos. A lot of stuff that I do is often spontaneous.
Kyle Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I, xPK Blizzardx, MAY have to drop out from the tournament, apparently microsoft decided not to repair my RRoD because its been "tampered" with and I won't get another 360 till the end of next month. =\ Sorry team Clover. Alternatives? Puru? Prophet?
Prophet Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Alternatives? Puru? Prophet? I'm willing to fill in if need be.
Kyle Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I'm willing to fill in if need be. Go Prophet, I Choose You! Pokemans... lol
Prophet Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Go Prophet, I Choose You! Pokemans... lol Haha, I'll do my humble best. Also, what would be a good alternative to the throwloop after 2C->8D xN. I have given up on learning the throw loop considering that it was removed in CS. Thanks!
Zoogstin Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Let the opponent fall. And have a 2D coming down on them when they get up. Then go for a 3C for the unblockable setup. You kind of have to guess when they get up, but its a descent setup.
Eshi Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 3]D[ works great if you predict they'll roll tech away from you. On a neutral tech use j2C allecancel with it for an unblockable, but it's really hard to time. When I go for the 2]D[ unblockable I like to use 2B with it instead, it's a lot easier to hit people out of roll teching behind you with it than 3C imo.
Prophet Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Thanks guys, I'll try those out. I'll try not to let all you Carl players down in the 3x3!
Isuyaru Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 My training mode experience has told me that if you're doing the 2D + low unblockable, you absolutely want to hit with 3C if you want it to be truly unblockable (perfectly timed). Doing the unblockable with 2B would cause that to be the end of the combo except for RCing since 2D would hit them off the ground, then the 2B would get rid of 2D's amazing untechable time. But with 3C, even with the 2D hitting them, they would just be knocked to the ground untechably. If anyone knows more about this, I'd like to hear it. Or we could just all use the superior 3D one anyway.
Kyle Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 ...2C->8D x3.... 3C under them , do a 6]D[ as they wake-up, than IAD over them, J.2C, Alle~can. People seriously can't block this & i believe it allows coverage for every tech choice. =P
Zoogstin Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 check out the orange carl player in the new vids autonomousR posted. He's got not nice setups after a knockdown from 8D and 2D. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=AutonomousR#p/u/7/-XpJ4cDCIjQ

Seeing these tricks Carl could always use but were never explored makes me dislike the infinite even more.
feri Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I see only one trick. But it completely fucks up reversal inputs =D It probably loses out to rolls/delay tech which is understandable.

I was thinking the same thing but I justify it this way: you see the setups in the videos i mentioned, plus the setups we're talking about in the past few post. Mix things up and use all of these at various setups to keep your opponent guessing. There's an answer for every thing the opponent can throw at you when getting up.
Sol.Badguy Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Why do people never throw reject the carl? does something even worse happen if they do? wtf?
DF2K Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT2280zMSbk Please critique. I'll be uploading more, but my dorm has a pretty bad connection so it will take a bit. Thanks!
Zoogstin Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Pretty good. One thing I noticed is that when you do the throw loop, you don't throw her closer to the ground. If you want to get off as many throws as possible with the least amount of meter you'll have to do that so you can land quick enough to relaunch her.
Xithmos Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Hey guys, I've been working on tech trapping with Carl in various situations, such as the 3C into ]2D[ that was mentioned. I've also tried doing j2C>214C (extremely delayed), but this doesn't always work. Could you guys give me a few pointers on tech traps with Carl?
Kyle Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 DF2K, Your video is labeled wrong. Your Carl has come along nicely. I see how far you have grown & the best news is I know your next step to improving. MATCH-UPS. Learn what you should/should not do against each character. Overall I notice you are doing what "Carl" should do. But you are not doing what "Carl vs ???" should do. This is good news b/c it tells me these Carl forums are right where they need to be, while the match-ups need more work. =P I know this & that's why I planned the 3v3 same character tourney to help everyone fill out their match-up forums more. Last thing: Tighten up your throw-loop. Character specific! Look at the combo thread and practice, practice, practice.
Kyle Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 NOTICE: All 3v3 discussion needs to be brought to the match-ups. I don't want to move each post into the appropriate locations.
A.X.I.S. Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Why do people never throw reject the carl? does something even worse happen if they do? wtf? if they do they reset the combo and it does even more damage, so don't throw break! burst! hey kyle i started messing with carl and i must say he's pretty fun, still trying to learn how his attacks go and how to maneuver ada etc.

I like to jump cancel & tech chase with J.214C.If it hits its a launch with 8]D[. If they guard it's unblock into 8]D[. Same with 632146C. Evil huh.
