Zoogstin Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 anyone know the Carl matchup chart that was in the June 09 Arcadia? PS: thx Kyle!!! heres a link to the spreadsheet. http://www.versuscity.net/2009/05/30/arcadia-july-tier-list-trouble/blazblue-rankv1/
stinkymonz Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Has anyone ever tried doing [or figuring out the finger-work for an] airdash 2C~kara throw~8]D[ as the 2nd airthrow+8]D[? I remembered people had concerns against like Taokaka and Rachel who'd 'fall too fast' and I had the thought the 2C~kara throw should kill your elevation very fast. Also, what happens if you jump and 2C~kara throw on the spot? Do you ~float~ or do you get like a retarded jump or do you get like an ~effective and safe~ almost-option-select I-No-esque airthrow attempt?

I think rachel falls too slow when i try to throw loop her lol. But no i haven't tried it...I don't think its necessary tho. If you do a 2c~kara without airdash, its just a jump throw i think, i remember i tried it once long ago but it wasnt anything special. Don't remember exactly tho.
neoghaleon Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hey Guys, What's a good follow up to Carl's 623C at MAX RANGE? It can't be as useless as I think it is....
Diveman Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hey Guys, What's a good follow up to Carl's 623C at MAX RANGE? It can't be as useless as I think it is.... Kyle said this on the combo discussion (you should ask there about combos) 623C, 8]D[, walk forward, 2C, Raise The Roof. or 623C, 5B, 2]D[, Vivace, 2C, Raise The Roof.
Zeero Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 i think he means when they're not in between nirvana and Carl... in which case, yes it is useless, unless you have nirvana right behind you pushing you closer...
Diveman Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 but, if nirvana is not around, you could call nirvana in the middle of the combo (that is, before cantabile) and go for the "623C, 5B, 2]D[, Vivace, 2C, Raise The Roof. " and if 623C just hit them randomly, I guess the best option if nirvana is not there, is just to summon her and cross the opp so that it recovers between you and nirvana
neoghaleon Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 so far the best thing I can think of that goes into 623C without nirvana is to IAD throw if they tech. By the way, the alle-can setup Im not sure what's the best way to do it. Left side, do I still do 3C, IAD, air 2C, 214C,2C loop? or is it 3C, IAD, air 2C, 236C, 2C, loop? I'm asking because I cant get alle-can to go out well enough to test myself... yet
Kyle Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 So I have been learning to play Carl for like two weeks and I am starting to get the hang of him, but I have a handful of questions to ask. 1. What is the timing for 5B to hit in the bnb air combo and what is the timing for the jump cancel? Sometimes I connect the 5B but then they recover from my j.b, but there are time they recover out of my 5b. 2. What are some combos that finish with the gear super? 3. Is it worth the full heat bar to do the gear super and Nirvana 11 hit combo at the same time? 4. Does the ground loop combo together? To be answered soon:
neoghaleon Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hey guys, I have a question about the alle-can setup. Everyone here seems so expert at alle-can, but I can't seem to pull off this move very well. On average, I get about 2/10 tries. Are there any visual cues, audio cues that lets you know when to input 214C after the j2C? I've been practicing for weeks and I'm still struggling. Thanks for the help
E.Y.E.W.T.K.A.S Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 That is actually really easy. You literally just do it the split second it lands, but do not mash C cause then alle actually comes out and you knock the opponent out of your setup.
Kyle Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 In two weeks I will be buying a 360 & BB. sorry PS3 goers, it's truly Infinite_Undiscovery & StarOcean4 that made my decision. So... who's got what in these parts. 4Corners? Zoogs? Zee~ro?

Is it worth the full heat bar to do the gear super and Nirvana 11 hit combo at the same time? 4. Does the ground loop combo together? 1:Input the JumpCancel and the attack at the same time. so, 9+B is the exact input. Input everything on the previous hit. 2: Honestly, the gear super should be used to combo if the opponent burst. otherwise 214214]D{ is FAR SUPERIOR for damage and range. If you find yourself without nirvana and truely need it for damage it best done after a 3C. whatever into 3C, 632146C. 3: No, In that same spacing it's better to do; ...632146C, Delay, 8]D[, JB+C, 8]D[, Airdash, JB+C, 8]D[, RC, B+C, 8]D[, Airdash, JB+C, 8]D[, 4: Yes, but after three repetitions it's best to rest the opponent with a high/low/throw to reset the damage scaling. I hope this is what you were looking for. =)
Zeero Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I think you misunderstood #3, he probably means to do gear super after the nirvana punch super. Not the punch super off the gear... And the answer is stll No, unless you're desperate for damage.
Diveman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 sometimes I use Big bang upper super when the opp is low on health and i´ve just done a reset, for a quick kill. Does this super have any other use besides combos?
Sigma Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 sometimes I use Big bang upper super when the opp is low on health and i´ve just done a reset, for a quick kill. Does this super have any other use besides combos? If the opponent hasn't used their burst yet, it can be used as a great trap. I find quite often if you can predict they will burst and use it, it will hit them right after their invincibility frames and cause some good damage, sometimes finishing them off if they waited too long.
feri Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Sandwich loops and baiting escapes at higher levels of play? What happens? I'm experiencing attempts at IB + jumping, counter moves/dps/IB supers, mixture of IB/Barrier and dead angles. Eventually people are going to succeed more in escaping sandwich loops so I shall get heaps less damage off it than I do now. Also, there is the question of sandwich looping to conserve nirvana bar (since loops take so much bar) when her health is reasonably low.
TheSlyMoogle Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 For the record I don't give a shit about Carl. So I was unlocking all the characters astral heats today, because I was fucking bored. The Situation: I was playing as Noel. I had the game in arcade mode, the computer was set to Beginner. What Happened: Computer Carl activated Nivana's throw animation while I was activating 6C with Noel. Nirvana threw me and I got the big X that means no break for me. Anyway then at the same time she grabbed me, Carl hit me with 5a. It knocked me out of Nirvana's hands and Nirvana stayed there frozen. I didn't see this posted anywhere so figured I would post it now. I was unable to recreate it again in Training mode, so don't know what happened really, but Nirvana stayed frozen for the rest of the round.
Zoogstin Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 that sounds annoying. Hopefully its just a computer thing. Thanks for the post. Fortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Zeero Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Well its bang after all. Hes just a more mobile tager in terms of matchup, since the clap loop is simply B+C+8D over and over again
Diveman Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 yeah, is kinda dumb that you only need to hit him twice and you win. The only problem in that match-up is that bang players tend to setup the bumpers as soon the fight starts. That makes them hard to catch (luckly bang needs to be close to do damage and thats where you want him to be)
