Arvoyea Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Hey. Not sure if this kind of topic is okay or not but I've been having a hard time with BBCP. I've mained Ragna since CT and I feel how lacking I am especially in this installment. It almost feels like I'm playing him and the game wrong with how many losses I have. So I tried Jin. While I like some aspects of Jin, I feel like I may not go far with him either. So I think I should try learning a new character and start over. I'm thinking Bang or Azreal, but I need some advice. Who should I try? Also if this is a forbidden topic I'm sorry and you can take it down. Haven't posted on here in quite a while.
Airk Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Switching characters is never the answer to "I am doing badly with this character." If anything, it makes it worse. You should switch characters only if for some reason, you feel you have hit some sort of barrier in execution ("I just can't do IAD combos!") or you realize you would prefer a different playstyle - but understand that there will be a nontrivial period of time when switching characters will cause you to lose MORE.
CurseSword Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Late reply here, lol. Ragna and Jin are basic characters, I don't know why you are having troubles. Anyway, you should go for Azrael, you can do great damage without much effort.
Dark Ranger88 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Well try to tell us what exactly you are having problems with when you fight people. Do you lose in neutral every time? Are you not able to block well and get opened up by throws/overheads? Can you pin an opponent down, but just can't seem to successfully mix them up or get any hits? Do people always jump and you don't know how to answer? Etc. Etc. Etc. This could be a fundamentals or thought process problem, rather than needing to switch characters.
Universe Arcana Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Try and play a character that fits your play style. From what you said so far, Azrael might be a good choice. Maybe even Terumi or Kagura.

And as a further caveat - if you can't even EXPLAIN why you are losing, then changing characters is just going to make it worse. You need to understand what your failings are before you can try to fix them. Have you tried watching some of your own replays?
