I'm in the southeast Houston area and I don't really know anyone who plays much around here. I'm planning on checking out Planet Zero soon, but it'd be awesome if there was some kind of mini-scene around here. :/

BTW, I play BB:CS, SSF4, MK9, MvC3. I'm up for trying pretty much any fighting game, but those are the ones I have.

scrub tuesday @ monsters arcade starting at 6:30pm or so, $6 entry, last until 4:00 AMish.

smiley's sports bar wednesday, 18+, i believe venue fee is $5 or so. starts at 8pm or so, ask ABK on SRK for details

austin tournament coming up on the 30th, as well as the dallas tournament on the 7th/8th

i believe PZ hosts MvC3 weeklies every thursday/friday, i am not really sure on the details though. if you're interested in coming to random casual gatherings, you could ask jan (on srk or if you come tomorrow, he'll be @ monsters most likely)

Gotten hooked on AH3 this past week and I need some human competition with PSN down. Where do the AH3 meetings happen? Monsters arcade is out since im not willing to make that drive since I have a 9-5 job. I also went to planet zero last friday and there didnt seem to be anyone there.

Does smiley's have anything other than SSF4 and MvC3? Last time I went that's all they had and I refuse to play those games.

Yeah, Monster's is on the exact opposite side of town from me and it's probably over an hour drive, so I'm not planning on going there anytime soon, but Planet Zero is a more manageable drive for me, plus they have actual arcade machines, which is a huge plus for me. I live by 45 south, near the beltway.

I've never played AH, but I plan on trying it out at PZ when I go after finals are over. It sounds interesting from what I've heard.

I'm wondering how practical it'd be to try to start some type of fighting game meetup group to just hang out and play on some kind of semi-regular basis. I don't know anyone who plays anything other than SF4 and even then at the most casual of levels. I still remember the glory days of arcades and online just doesn't really do it for me.

I actually looked around PZ and I never saw an AH3 machine. If they have one they have it hidden away somewhere.

We mostly arrange Arcana meetups through facebook or on homingcancel.com (houston thread). They happen somewhat randomly since there aren't very many active players (around 5 consistant players and about 7 others that randomly play but used to when PZ had the machine). Also, the AH3 board died at PZ around september and hasn't been replaced since.

If you're interested in getting into the arcana meetups, send a PM and I'll give you more information.

Are there any regular BB meetups at PZ? That's my favorite fighting game, but I suck at it.

Also, I just learned that PZ has MK9 now, too. I'm probably going to pretty much live there over summer break. :D

Hello I'm going to be in Houston this weekend and was planning on going to Planet Zero on Saturday to play BBCSII. I've never been to an arcade before and I'm pretty bad at BlazBlue. Is there anything I should know about playing at an arcade or how Planet Zero operates? Will there be anyone playing BBCSII there?

Posted

I'm near Sugarland, and I have 3 friends that play, but hey when it comes to BLAZBLUE, it's 'the more the merrier'! I'm always looking for more people that play.

@ThunderboltZ28

Is there an arcade here with BBCSII? If so, I'll come check it out, never played BB on a cab before, just been using my trusty Sony consoles :D

@Thrash242

Where in SE Houston? I'm in Missouri City and I've actually held a few tournaments at my house, but I only have 2 friends that can almost keep up with me. I gotta check this Planet Zero place out as well, but if you are looking for some BB matches, I'm down.

The eastern end of Pearland, actually. Very near I-45 south/Beltway 8. Probably about 30 minutes from Missouri City.

I'm not very good at BB because I have no one to play, so I can't guarantee a good fight, but I'm always looking for people to play.

when exactly is the best time to go to PZ? Thursday, Friday or the weekend? Because I went Friday and there was hardly anyone there.

Posted

From what I heard, Thursday is a good time to go if you want to play fighting games, since they have their SF4 weeklies then and lots of fighting game players show up then.

This is only what I've heard, since I've never been, but I'm planning to go up there this Thursday, because I'll be done with finals.

We must have gotten there after you left tonight lol.

Oh well, we spent most the time trying to beat unlimited mars mode...

I am going to try to push cs2 because I believe that we have good enough players to be the best in the country at this game. Meaning Me(Jan), Kensou, Sam, And Viper have to start playing with each other. Remember fellas that we play at more than just planet zero in houston.

Ok, well I searched for PZ and saw something online that said it was at Westheimer and Shadowbriar, which is less than a block from a friends place who I actually got into the game, so we were going to go together.

He only had an hour so I thought it would be a good time with a friend and then play some of you guys when he had to go, but SURPRISE SURPRISE! PZ is no longer there! Soooo, I'm trying to figure out where the heck this place is now. Anyone have an address because I can't find one anywhere?

Also, any of you guys that want people to practice against/improve your game I can at least fight back a little bit... I think... Add me on the PSN now that THAT part of the PSN is back up. Not sure about the rest.

Posted

The Address is in this thread somewhere but I'm pretty sure its at the spot you mentioned unless it moved in the last 2 weeks. Its in a strip mall on the left hand side going east on westheimer.

Posted

@celsius : pz actually relocated to westheimer and kirkwood one block down. it's in the same complex as the sports authority and specs, across the street from the lowes shopping center

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, I was confused until my friend that lives at Shadowbriar told me he and his wife saw it while they were out driving, I'll be hitting that place up once I get used to the BBCS Tournament stick that just arrived :) I may have to quit Hazama though :( Ragna and Haku are easy transitions but alas my poor Terumi... anyway as soon as I don't look like a COMPLETE fool I'll bring a few friends down there. Are you guys always hanging out there Thursdays? [i'm not particularly looking to get my ass kicked, I just want to get better and have a good time] Also what sort of scratch would you need for a few hours play?
