Seems like GRD can actually go over your half of the gauge, which leaves your opponent with less room to build their GRD. And, as can be seen in that Ori-Lyn match, that can become an overwhelming advantage. Which leads me to thinking about the ways to get out of this situation. Seems like attacking the opponent doesn't reduce their GRD by a whole lot, maybe getting rid of about 1 whole primer with a good combo. And the opponent themselves may just decide not to spend it on anything - sure, it limits their options, but the attack and defense advantage is usually worth it. So, unless I'm missing something, I'm guessing that there are better ways of destroying the enemy GRD. That, or I'm just overestimating the power of GRD. About the palettes: I like how even the regular palettes have names, and not just called "Default" or something. -

Welp, didn't imagine that I'd like Carmine, but I do. I love his mix of zoning, traps and proper rushdown, his spinning stars reek of Jedah, and he's far from being the usual evil shoto. He also reminds me of that dagger psycho from BBB, forgot his name. The rest of the cast still have to show their full potential, aside from Gordeau's range. Makes me look silly for being impressed about Waldshein's. By the way, now that I've heard them pronouncing his name, I actually get the Valentine's Day joke they did before. -

Man, that's probably the longest rapier I've ever seen! Certainly like the way Orie looks, especially the animation of her skirt. It's too bad that there are no voices, but the Skullgirls example shows that it actually doesn't take that much time to voice the game. As a side note, it seems that your GRD gauge goes down while the enemy's hitting you. So the only way to use its max level is not to get hit even once. -
How exactly does her color scheme work, anyways?

Certainly the main highlight of the update for me. I actually don't think that GRD can be reduced in any way, since that would make it too similar to the EX gauge. Overall, this system reminds me of Daemon Bride, I like it. -
Finally, a character from Kizuato, the game that inspired Tsukihime and, by proxy, Melty Blood. I still have my doubts about importing this, but I will be glad if this game gets more coverage.

At least you guys can buy it in your local stores, while I can only wait for Play-Asia to send me my copy of the game In other news, this is going to be my first PS3 copy of BB, so I look forward to playing with you guys online.

You expected gameplay? Too bad! It's just me, Waldstein! Sorry. Ahem. Anyway, guys, we're not supposed to get any gameplay until the 17th, maybe 16th for you guys on the other side of the Atlantic. So you shouldn't have expected it in the first place. -
One could argue that asking for a story in videogames is wrong in the first place, but there are many cases that prove it to be a valid storytelling medium. And honestly, I can't see why fighting games would be an exception: it's not like any other videogame wasn't made primarily for gameplay. //For the record: I've never said that SCV is a bad game because its story is bad, partially because I haven't actually played it. It's just that I can't help being a devil's advocate when people are throwing opinions like they were absolute truths.

In other news, different people play games (and fighting games in particular) for different purposes. For some, it's competition, but for some others, it's not. Then again, you are supposed to judge the game "objectively", without comparing it to your expectations, which is nigh-impossible for a living person.

It's pretty damn hard to mistranslate PUREIABURU, yeah. And I think those screens are the first time we've seen that middle bar not filled to the max. Also, that page still doesn't have any gameplay info (except for saying that it will stay true to its MB roots and will be easy even for the beginner players to pick up), but it does say a lot of good things about the sprites, calling it "the best pixel artwork Japan has ever seen" and saying that "The facial expressions are a sight to see". And honestly, I can see where they're coming from. -

That Bazett looks great, but I wish the game had a proper weaponless fighting style. It's not like Viola's fits he- oh wait, Fragarach... Yeah, Viola fits, too, that's even more awesome.

My friend mained Mina, and he likes Xiba a whole lot. I was afraid that he'll turn out closer to Kilik, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Honestly, 7.5 is a high enough score which is only 2.5 scores lower than a perfect one. I can easily see the game losing a point or two for me if a gameplay feature that took me a lot of time to complete didn't meet my expectations, even if the rest of the game is perfect. People should realize that the scores go from 1 to 10, not from 6 to 10. And, of course, that the score is subjective.

It's not just the color of the hair, it's also the air intake hairstyle. But yeah, like I said, she doesn't look like Aoko to me, either, which doesn't make me love her any less. -

I guess I should remind everyone that Linne's ability (whatever the hell they are) is called... "Speedster". Seth's, on the other hand, is called "Kerukeion", which sounds kinda speedster-y, too.
