  1. LOL I hope you explained to your friend that Focus is a basically a limited bastardisation of Parry and Roman Cancel? One of the main redeeming features that I see in SFIV tho, is that 3S players can kinda play their chars in a 3S way and ST players can kinda use their chars in an ST way, mostly. I get by knowing no specifics but recycling ST Blanka, Honda, Bison, Guile stuff with a bit of Focus thrown in too. Anyway back on topic.I think I threatened with a vid a while back and still have had a chance to get something made. So I'm trying to get another one done soon, to highlight a few of the GB combos I've missed in the past and some other stuff like Overdrive use. Yeah I'm still waiting on that too. Are you going to tell us how he did it Hintalove?
  2. Cool, thanks for clearing that up. Been quite a while since I've attempted to read my mook...
  3. I wasn't aware there were different definitions of fuzzy guard related to American or Japanese use. The only time I hear people talk about fuzzy guard on here is in relation to what I covered in the vid at 4:36 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGJMARVoXxg and what Hintalove has already described. This exact setup (deep j.S into dj.HS or a low) was first shown on the ancient Wargasm Slash Order-Sol vid. And I'm pretty sure it was described as a fuzzy guard back then. Hintalove, do the Japanese describe this situation as fuzzy guard? Of course, the meaning of fuzzy guard also changes between game to game as well. Fuzzy guard in VF for example is something completely different (there it's use to defeat the mid/throw mixup in certain disadvantaged states by basically bobbing up and down / crouch dashing and holding G).
  4. Regarding 4 Fafnirs into DL, only possible way I could imagine that even happening is if you took the manly route of 4 dash buffered Fafnirs (or 1 normal and 3 dash buffered) - and I don't even know if that would all work I'm just theorising here. 4 Fafnirs in a row usually pushes you out too far in order to followup in the corner (without blowing Tension that you don't have that is lol).
  5. I posted it under my fake yt account in the media thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=329418&postcount=658 I may get around to putting Sekido and 0's matches up from the G3 MAX dvd at some point too.
  6. Even tho he had Lv2, he was going for a knockdown combo off the corner throw that would not use BRP (because using the right air normals in the right way, you can get knockdown from the untechable time of j.D if it's your last air hit). I brought up this type of combo before after seeing 0 use it on the G3 Max dvd against Potemkin (I've also seen him go for a similar but different one vs another Slayer player). He did make a mistake tho, and that was in his timing of the combo. I'm pretty sure if he'd done it perfectly the last j.D would have given knockdown.
  7. Personally I live a very long way from London and only make it down to big events/tournies but Ryza lives down there. One of the main arcades in London (Trocadero) actually has an AC board in now and there are quite a few people who play it regularly (including Ryza who still uses I-No from time to time). Oh and Ryza taught me tons of I-No stuff, he's def the person in the UK to ask about using her. You can check out some of his matches here FlamesMacloud: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=265184&postcount=1
  8. Yes. You should finish the second Lv3 BRP motion just as HOS's feet touch the ground again after the first. And yeah, with regards to the input window I don't have a clue as to frame numbers or anything but it's like excellence said, just look at your Gauge as it drains to get an idea.
  9. You're thinking about it incorrectly to begin with. To get a second Lv3 move after Lv3 BRP you need to buffer the input for the next Lv3 special before the Lv3 BRP has finished recovering (after the 2nd hit). It's a timing/spacing issue. You just need to watch vids and get an idea about how low the opponents are to the ground when you're going for the re-jump j.HS. You also need to bear in mind that j.D has 5 frames of landing recovery which will screw with your timing to begin with. Just holding 8/9 when you land right after j.HS, j.D, dj.HS, j.D should get you the fastest re-jump time, then you just need to hit with the j.HS.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnRX8HsumX8 I've added the combo WUT posted to the vid as well as a few others and re-shuffled it slightly for the time being. 1st part is non-knockdown combos, 2nd part is knockdown combos.
  11. Buffer just means pressing a button / performing a move before your last move has fully recovered - the input is stored for a very short time "ahead" of whatever you'll do next. e.g. 5HS, Lv3 BRP You can actually press HS and do the 236K motion before 5HS has completely recovered and the BRP is said to be "buffered". That's how you get Lv3 BRP twice in a row, you buffer the 2nd one just as the first one finishes. Same thing with the Lv3 BRP, Lv1 GB - you do 236K~D, 214S where the ~ means immediately press D after K. You won't get an AC if you do it fast enough as the D is buffered before the AC input window. Meaning you can then get your CK Lv1 GB. I'm going to explain this in depth in the next vid. As I said this buffering is easier if you do Lv3 BRP after a gatling string. As for HJI it just takes practice, it's just about doing 929 fast enough so that your initial JC is then canceled into a high jump.
  12. Nice. I know you can get all the usual dash 5S© HJ combos after a Lv3 BRP > Lv1 GB hit but I did try dash j.HS, j.D yada yada but couldn't get it. Maybe I need to delay that Lv1 GB a little more, just so they float a little bit lower afterwards ready for the dash j.HS... Sesshryu, you can do straight Lv3 BRP into Lv1 GB by itself but it has to be a fast kara-cancel. If you do something like 5K, 5S©, 5HS, Lv3 BRP into Lv1 GB the cancel to hold down D for CK Lv1 GB is a lot easier (thanks to the buffer window).
  13. Check out the I-No matches here under "Movie": http://members2.jcom.home.ne.jp/shin_skoll/ In particular the Slayer match (whilst they're still available). It's TOO much lol
  14. Working on/testing Lv3 BRP combos for the first post, I put this little vid together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra1enpEGxAg I've missed out WUT's basic knockdown combo (Full Lv3 BRP dash 5HS JC j.HS, j.D, Lv2 BRP) but is there any others that people use asides from that in the vid? I already know Hintalove is going to say just go for the DL (and reaVer will say use 5HS HJI lol)
  15. Yeah but SVB '09 is penciled in for Easter time. So you get your damn self to our event :P (there's going to be Japanese players too :P) Here are some of the matches from the NvS 5v5 event. zer0kage capped them and uploaded them (but had to record over all mine/his group matches ). North Team Final Ultima - Sol Goukifafa - Slayer Kane - Testament kaworu - Eddie Smraedis - May South Team cris - Potemkin Kyzer - Robo-Ky Inti - May Robocop Two - Chipp Zakuta - Baiken Smraedis vs cris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrf-wlkoyEE Smraedis vs Zakuta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYztQG3bTAQ Kane vs Robocop Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2cwpGh2OaE Final Ultima vs Zakuta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rp2vPD1a5k Kane vs cris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syCXhZVpvOc Smraedis vs Robocop Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZjs6bDMXP4 Inti vs Smraedis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0M-TjEGON8 Zakuta vs Goukifafa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPkpaAGYxbM Kyzer vs Goukifafa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6UVAdmN5Eg Kyzer vs Smraedis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZINmet4iCA Kane vs Zakuta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxi3vYuN7RM Goukifafa vs Robocop Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRfKuPhslLU
  16. The finalists were the people who got to the finals out of all those who entered on the day. Same with any tournament. Around 24 players entered and there were 4 groups of around 6/7 with top 2 going thru to knockout stage. There were quite a few upsets in the groups and not all the strongest players could make it on the day/enter anyway. But Goukifafa has won 2 AC RB seasons and now 3 tournaments, he's def one of the stronger players in the UK.
  17. Recent tourney matches from ReBirth 2008: QUARTER FINALS: ... Cris (PO) vs Sky (SO) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W5SfSwosC-k SEMI FINALS: .... FINAL: Inti (MA) vs Goukifafa (SL) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5FYvv55_jwA ReBirth took place on the Sunday just gone in Harrow (just outside central London) UK and was run by Neo Empire. There were single events for KOF98UM and GGXXAC and there was a North vs South GGXXAC Team Battle in which the South beat the North 19-6 (all matches were capped and will be uploaded at some point). We also had 4 linked setups of SFIV and ran a mini tournament which Desk won. There was also the latest build of Super Turbo HD Remix playable on casuals as well.
  18. Yeah I can confirm (and have tested) that you CAN'T hit PO or RO with this combo unless you get a CH: (from 1st post) You don't need the CH to do it vs ABA but you do needs loads of momentum IIRC and yeah you wouldn't even want to be doing it vs her in the first place. Fun thing I like to do vs Ky is something like 2K, 5S©, 2S, 2D, Lv1 RI into Lv1 GB. The RI always whiffs Ky but you can do an immediate meaty GB over his prone body. Not yet tested to see if it qualifies as a crossup tho.
  19. Update: zer0kage (MI, DI) vs Aion (JA): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6zIVdUVUUUE http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9uJH0H5XWHU http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RxHw6OfhDzM Zakuta (MI) vs Adamski (IN): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUznUpSJaUk zer0kage (MI) vs Adamski (IN): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p91TY2Cv7NI Kingpin (PO) vs Adamski (IN): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=063HNoXchQk http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eHi5x0xyLGQ Kingpin (PO) vs zer0kage (MI): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oQiTlxm6ZIg
  20. Something minor I forgot to post about this matchup months ago. Slayer's 5K, at max range, can simultaneously whiff and go over your 2S but also hit you. I hate Slayer's 5K. Generally I find you have to think carefully about almost any button press you make in this match, especially at mid/close range. In some respects it's similar to playing Moroha mode ABA.
  21. Have you guys seen this I-No player? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thZMhxCQnhA&feature=related It's a one way ticket to mixup city!!
  22. But to actually get the 5S© into hj combo from a throw, you NEED the dash j.HS in the beginning. So it's not the case of doing hj combos because you can't do dash j.HS, those combos actually need the dash in the beginning so you're close enough. Otherwise you'd have to do dash 5S© after the semi dust loop part of the combo and that's way more of a pain to do than an opening dash j.HS. Damage is damage if you don't mind sacrificing the manly approach of "I'm doing max damage AND gonna knockdown this fucker" lol btw WUT, thanks for the dust loop tips vs Sol, I've got them to be a lot more consistent from corner throw now using that delay after the initial dash j.HS, j.D. Dust Looping with HOS = an exact, character specific science lol
  23. For which event? For RBs that I run and the mini tournies I hosted we'd get on average around 11 players, think the most we ever got was 13. But GG isn't as big as other fighters in the UK anyway and generally it was just local players (traveling 200 miles to enter local RBs/mini tournies is a bit ott for London based players). For SVB 2008 we had around 30 I'd say, including maybe 8 European dudes (the first stage was 4 groups and each group on average had about 7 players). SVB 2008 was held on the same weekend as Showdown in Sweden tho, so we missed out on more Euro heads coming We have another GG tourney coming up soon called ReBirth 3: http://www.neoempire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=94 Which looks to have mainly UK heads entering. We're also having an official North v South 5v5 team battle as well (at Rebirth 2, the South won by 18-7, it's time for the North's revenge lol).
  24. That depends on the Sol you're playing really. If he likes to reversal VV you can just bait and then punish. If you did a big damage combo on Sol and could end it with Lv2 air BRP for knockdown (i.e. you're close enough to the ground for Lv2 air BRP to knockdown) I would take the knockdown. Doing a Charge Keep Lv1 BRP AC FRC to get to Lv3 in that kind of situation isn't well advised, yeah you go up one level but you're also letting Sol escape any possible oki. You can get a safe AC from knockdown Lv2 air BRP anyway, 1 quick manual charge or 1 or 2 CC'd normals later and you have your Lv3.
  25. Vs Sol I use the throw combo: dash j.HS, j.D, dj.HS, j.D land 5S© HJC hj.S, j.HS, j.D (Lv1 BRP) Dust Loop and corner hj re-juggles from 5S© do near enough the same damage from any given situation (literally a few points difference). If I'm on Lv2 I'll just do a straight Lv2 BRP after the first part of the combo for an easy knockdown. Might be adventurous sometimes and try a full DL into Lv2 BRP or perhaps something like j.P, j.S, dj.S, j.D, Lv2 BRP instead of the re-juggle. Otherwise I'll just use the hj re-juggle . Depends on my mood I guess. The questions you've got to ask yourself are; Do I want safe/easy damage? Do I want a safe/easy knockdown? Do I want big damage (harder to do) but no knockdown? Am I going to be a man and strive for big damage AND knockdown? lol Also... A huge flaw with all this testing and discussion is that you haven't mentioned how close Sol and Order-Sol are to one another. And even if you tested it with exactly the same spacing apart every single time, that neglects the fact that this kind of situation can arise in matches from completely DIFFERENT spacings between Sol and Order-Sol. What if Sol does a dash buffered GF FRC? How do the timings from your testing differ? What if the Sol player knows you like to do this stuff on auto-pilot and starts putting in GF feints to catch you?
