  1. Matches from Super vs Battle 2008, a 2 day UK tourney run by Neo Empire earlier this year: Quarters Keev (DI) vs Cyrox (VE): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ulBmMZegqhA&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=6 Bido (ED) vs Hadeed (AB): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D5mveXhSq-k&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=5 Grand Lethal (PO) vs Zakuta (BA): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cLxkbHXGWIM&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=4 Zaelock (BA) vs Ian (TE): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zAvQdtsJgV4&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=3 Semis Hadeed (AB) vs Zakuta (BA): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj0faPRB5Vo&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=2 Final Zakuta (BA) vs Zaelock (BA): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XPlaXwZjXVU&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=1 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XPlaXwZjXVU&feature=PlayList&p=FDC4CAE32D02D506&index=0 We were lucky enough to have players come from all over Europe to this, several of whom actually reached the finals: Keev (France) Cyrox (Sweden) Grand Lethal (Greece) Zaelock (Greece) -> is name is wrong on the vids lol Bido and Hadeed are both studying here in the UK and in fact live 2 flats apart. Was total fluke that they ended up in the same quarters match. I believe Bido was also a former sparring partner of Latiff! Zakuta and Ian are the UK's own home grown talent lol Unfortunately for Keev, the GGXXAC event over ran this time and he was un-able to play further in the tournament as he risked missing his flight home. French Millia player Chris was also in attendance for this with Keev. Plenty of great matches happened in the finals however....tho there IS a Baiken mirror to watch lol
  2. I liken Goukifafa's Slayer to a wild dog lol. He doesn't play for knockdowns and he doesn't play with many mixups, he's just constantly in your face looking to do as much damage and cause you as much grief as possible lol. You can't really see it in those final vids but his links are pretty damn tight, he'll rarely miss his multi 5S©,5S(f)s or 5Ks or whatever. Ryza's Slayer on the other hand is a lot more methodical and he's pretty clinical with his combos. Big damage AND knockdown usually. And a whole different set of mind games to worry about too. Yeah, kinda. ABA was his main char thru the early days of AC, then he moved onto I-No more as she was neglected. Since then it's been more Slayer and May but now he's using May more and looking to easy off on Slayer. Tho he could always go back to I-No messing around in casuals since he's used her from pretty much the beginning of Slash (loads of experience to fall back on).
  3. Meant to start this for a while now but whatever here it is. I will try to keep it updated with as many UK GG matches as possible, tho that will be mostly from the players in the north west UK (where I live lol). There are loads of matches already on my youtube page but I'll will scan thru and pick out the better ones soon. In the meantime, here are matches from a mini north west tourney we had not so long ago, as well as some casuals which took place afterward. 4. Just some things I wanted to comment on here... Whilst it's true HOS has a weakness to being zoned, he certainly isn't slow, he's pretty damn fast in fact. But yes, Ghosts are a real pain. If you watch this Sanma match as an example, you'll see how he deals with Ghosts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE5rUI4upNo Note he will try to back off and build Charge, looking for an opening to get in and get rid of those Ghosts. But he's using HOS's speed to try and get in for those gaps. I think that's a bit of exaggeration really, especially since if HOS's specials trade, he'll lose his Gauge as if the move hit normally (and you won't get those extra hits from higher levels if they trade). Actually, most of HOS's normals are very fast and are safe or only just disadvantaged on block. You also need to bear in mind that he can also CC lots of his normals and make them even safer in most instances. His fast recovery normals and CCs allow frame traps, so trying to punish HOS in the wrong situation is going to hurt you. Again HOS's moves don't have good range, he has very short range in fact, that's part of the reason he's weak against characters who can zone him, like Axl, Testament, Zappa, Faust etc... Fafnir and Lv3 BRP give a good high/low mix up at about mid range but other than these moves, he's lacking in range on all his normals (5S(f) is a quirky move as is 5HS, they're best used in specific circumstances). Personally I would see this as 6-4 to Zappa, the match is definitely not in HOS's favour. Couple more matches of this fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpMbeh-SUYM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y152cBSjrkA Oh and yeah, Raoh is without doubt the hardest part of this fight! lol
  5. lol Considering you can get a full dust loop for crazy damage after a successful CH j.HS I doubt the weird crossup CH j.HS hit is ever going to do better damage (and even if you don't go for dust loop after CH j.HS, using 2S, 5HS hj.IAD j.P, j.HS, Lv1 SV (or other hj.IAD variations e.g. hj.IAD j.P, Lv3 SV > whatever) does solid damage, or for something easier just a running 5K, 5S©, 5HS HJC hj.S, j.HS, j.D is good enough). If you get a the crossup CH j.HS, I just tend to do 5K, 5S©, 5HS HJC hj.S, j.HS, j.D. Nice and simple. p.s. check out the start of round 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb5w1Ibm8kY
  6. Yeah you can DAA as an early anti air (similar to early CD counter as AA in KOF games) and get in a 5K afterwards. Might be able to get a 5S© but I've never really tested/used it. If you've got the bar and you're going to kill the other guy, DAA RC into air combo will work. Otherwise it's a horrible waste of Tension.
  7. SBO 2008, damn. Sanma's team of Dry Ace (AN) and Koto (BA) out in the first round to FAB (PO), Nakamura (MI) and Shoot (AX). 0's team of KA2 (JA) and Haaken (PO) out in the 2nd round to Nemo (TE), Koichi (MI) and Endou (MA). Kaqn's team of Kazuki (DI) and Inoue (TE) out in the 2nd round to Imo (ZA), Ogawa (ED) and Mike (JA). What does this character need to do to place high in big tournies?
  8. I'll experiment with that then and see how far I get. And as for knockdown, I generally play for it quite often (not as much from air combos where I should be really) but if you're saying HOS doesn't need that vs Millia I'll see how that pans out too. Yes, AAing in this fight is very hit and miss in my experience (excuse the pun). Lv1 GB can be good for AA above HOS's head but it's tricky to land.
  9. I play people who 6P my Lv1 RIs on neutral ground quite often. It will depend exactly on how close you are but there are definitely things you can do to stop RI on reaction. CH Fafnir is one thing yeah. No HOS play will do 2S (CH) into 5HS tho, or at least they shouldn't be, since 2S (CH) 6HS is a staple thing (RC for combo or else charge or rushdown afterwards). Using GB in footsies? How does that work exactly? None of those options will give an easy knockdown tho and you're looking at extra resources for these things. It's not like HOS will be always primed with 75% Tension and Lv3 to kill you in footsies. The range on 2D is pretty good so if I'm ever caught by a string/gatling I'm almost always being knockdown. Even if 'm up in her ace and think twice about something I'm often swept. But that may be my in-experience with this fight. On the other hand, getting HOS's 2D to connect can be a right pain in some situations because of it's range. I'll experiment with 5HS more then. But that's only in the situations where she's not coming in with a Pin, which isn't that often I find. But making out HOS gets like 260 damage from 1 AA consistently is just daft. And it's not simple lol (unless it's some obscure semi-dust loop into Lv3 special or something.
  10. I think some things sanshiki has said are grossly overexagerating / over simplifying the matter tho. That is nonsense, any character can 6P RI on reaction or sweep it. Try using it vs May and watch HOS die. Now, I've never personally tested Millia's 6P vs Lv1 RI but her sweep has more than enough range to take care of RI. What are all these stupid damage/high stun/knockdown combos? The only thing I can think of is 2S (CH) 6HS RC stuff, which takes lots of resources if you want the damage/knockdown you're talking about. You can't just pull it out of thin air. 2HS on CH gives good return too but how are you going to land 2HS CH playing footsies? In my personal experience, no. lol so you're talking about doing 5HS (CH) CC as anti air and then following up with a full dust loop into the corner? How often do you actually see this happen?
  11. Errr yeah when I was playing complete shit and didn't know how to deal with the gayness of roll > throw during an RB. This matchup is discussed more in the HOS forum. And Kane I don't think you and I have even played this matchup enough yet to fully understand it, let alone get pissed off with it.
  12. reaVer, if you're going to do a "basics" Order-Sol guide aimed at new players, you should avoid barraging them with hardcore frame data: http://goldreaver.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/order-sol-basics/#more-5 It's either going to put them right off or go way over their heads. Or both. Also you should make a note that the frame data actually comes from the Arcadia Accent Core Mook. It's just that it was translated and uploaded onto DL by it's members (plus there are slight errors with it here and there I believe).
  13. I've started to add in some timing notes in each section of the first post which relate to the vids. When you look at a secton it'll say what time to look for in what vid. Not every single variant of combo is written down but those that aren't may be covered in the vids already. Sections without any references to vids are obviously things I'll get around to making a vid for at some point.
  14. Ok cool. But you won't always be landing 2HS RC combos on a crouching opponent necessarily, obviously if they wakeup crouched then you will but other instances you could land the 2HS when they're stood up but not blocking high or in the middle of performing a motion or something.
  15. Errrm 5K doesn't combo to 5HS in AC (it used to in Slash). Unless you're taking about crouching hit? I've not tested that myself tbh. If you want simple knockdown from 2HS RC, no need at all to go all fancy with CCs and what-not. I just do 2HS RC dash 5K, 5S©, 2S, 2D Easy, gives knockdown and GB crossup setup and is pretty hard to mess up.
  16. I'm not talking about 6K or Bad Moon (6K is pretty slow), I'm talking about low altitude air dashes in the corner, she can hit you as she falling for an overhead or land a go low with 2K. That kind of stuff you can't block on reaction, it's the same with I-No's hoverdash and j.K/2K or Dizzy's corner stuff (since she also has double airdash as with Millia and can further mix you up by hitting you with a jumping move, then airdash into going high or low again).
  17. Ok to clarify what I was saying further: So, zer0kage was experimenting getting knockdown in midscreen, then delaying his timing then doing a S disc. Quite late. It caught me out a few times (maybe my SVs weren't perfect reversals tbh, my memory of those precise situations is a little foggy). But the moral of this story is, SV does not defeat 70% of Millia's mixup game, since there are several things she can do to get around reversal SV (and punish HOS for trying it).
  18. No, I'm not talking about delayed HS disc, I'm talking about using S disc but inserting the delay between the knockdown and the setting of the disc yourself. Call it a late S disc if you will. zer0kage was showing it me a while back.
  19. It's delayed after the knockdown so that it just becomes active as you wakeup. In midscreen Millia has the crossup / non crossup shenanigans with discs which will screw up trying to reverse with SV off the floor. In the corner you can't necessarily block Millia's mixup on reaction, you have to commit to high or low guard. And if you're going to try and use SV as way to stop her mixup, there's oki she can do that'll be safe against it and will be able to punish afterwards. Check out the safe jump at 2:44 and watch Kaqn get punished: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv2CNnQ63bM
  20. Nope, delayed S disc works. Believe me, I've had it done to me enough times when I've been SV reversal twitchy.
  21. Asides from when there is a ring over your head on wakeup and Millia is running/air dashing in with the mixup. In those cases, SV is a horrible idea that says "free combo" for Millia.
  22. Because it closes the gap safely. And if they're doing 6P as AA, they'll most likely follow with 6HS into DC or possibly 5S© after the 6P. Basically if you FD the 6P late, you won't need to FD that much as you'll land before he starts a long string.
  23. I will look into it more. Last night I did Lv3 BRP, Lv2 TR, 6HS vs ABA to check things and got knockdown everytime I landed it. I remember a while back trying to use this combo vs Johnny once or twice and he tech'd after the 6HS, so yes it's possible I was actually hitting just otg with the 6HS, and hence he could tech out.
  24. FD that shit. Like Titanium Beast said a while back, if you're going to use j.P (whiff) falling j.HS vs Slayer, and he tries to AA with 2S, you actually have the time to see this and FD instead of j.HS. So if you're djing around Venom, you should still be able to FD if you see him go for 6P.
  25. Ah yeah the combo with dj.D at the end. Need to test all this stuff and get it written up pronto.
