  1. it is similar to how rachel can deal with certain chars better (including bang) while her back is to the corner. for her, it takes the guess work out of using the pumpkin, since instead of guessing which way the foe moves of 8 directions, she only has to guess between 5, with serious consideration on 2d, 6d and 9d. same with lobelias, foe cant jump over them or get behind her in any way, so they must deal with the poles head on. if it works, which it should, do it, but I'd mix it up a little. advantageous or not, it is still the corner, and amane doesn't have a cat chair or a good dp outside of 100 heat. which means number 4 on that list is necessary. it is a decent strategy whose benefits could outweigh the risk... until the foe catches on, or you make a mistake.
  2. sort of makes sense. not sure how it will be handled in the future if this is the case; assuming this is possibly what they meant, that is. every new character minus makoto has a meter or weakpoints or heat up to manage, and it is usually "just hit the foe"
  3. this game is legit not fun anymore. not even rachel is motivating me to play it. ggs l guess. please stop skipping intros.
  4. This. You need a skeleton, a template of sorts. Why waste time and effort when someone already has and recorded it? You'd be doing them and yourself a disservice by unnecessarily working solo. No one gets really far on their own. Why not use the internet? Anyway, I'd recommend at the very least learning a few bread and butter combos for your char- these are the easiest, most accessible combos a char can have and your fallback in case you want to end a round or gain momentum. Once you get a few bnbs from different starters this will be your skeleton. From there you can experiment, "tweak" the skeleton, if you will, to fit your needs and play style. Want to be fancy? Want corner carry all the time? Max damage? Meter? Whatever you want, work that skeleton to fit your desires. In order to experiment I guess you would need some system knowledge - if you played bb I could have given you a college lesson on fundamentals lol. But different game and different rules. I'm afraid I'm not very experienced on unib's mechanics and combo theory, so hopefully someone more qualified can stroll by and offer assistance.
  5. Has certainly got smacked but he still seems viable. There will have to be a lot more thinking when it comes to zoning since it doesn't seem like he can do whatever whenever anymore. At least for now. Agree x3 whoever said chains should have been nerfed forever ago. He wouldn't be so great all this time with toned down chains. He'll finally be mid tier, who knows, perhaps even low or, knowing this guy, STILL top.
  6. What do you think. (Yes, just don't abuse it. And absolutely go for the RC.)
  7. If you are in blockstun when you press burst, instead of a burst you will get the guard cancelling overdrive. Pretty self explanitory; canceling your guarding stance to do overdrive. Currently, pressing burst in blockstun or getting hit will result on an actual burst. Assuming the devs tweak gcod, the loss of block stun burst can be seen as a situational nerf.
  8. Oh my goodness gracious! It's not the first time a doctor has failed the people. What a quack.
  9. Which coast do you live on and what's your availability I can probably help with amane
  10. You block to gain GRD; gain more than the foe within the 15 second intervals and you get vorpal. Vorpal lets you chain shift as a pause button to possibly punish and to gain meter. Or you can counter for free. Both options consume vorpal, so make the best of it. You get hit or back up and you lose GRD. If the foe gains vorpal while you are defending you are screwed for quite awhile. With enough meter you can of course veil or counter, but counter will get you GRD broken so you really have to make use. Depending of the player and character blocking can either be easy or extremely hard for that amount of time. In general, the longer you are blocking, the higher your chances of being opened up.
  11. None beside learn to block really and use the system mechanics to their fullest. Rush down in this game against those without a dp is extremely oppressive and you just have to deal with that fact. Best to sub someone with a dp honestly. Don't be discouraged if you get knocked down once and die, because that is just how the game is unless you can correctly predict an escape method and use it. Defensive mechanics are just as risky as blocking if not more so due to byakuya only having veil off, shield and GRD/100 heat counter; all riskier than the reward they give. His neutral simply does not compensate for the risk he has to take on his own wakeup like say, Hilda who can get her game going off a successful veil off/counter, and she's considered low tier (though that is up in the air, she certainly isn't high tier).
  12. This matchup is even. There are many mind games and both players have to put in an equal amount of effort. Neither one loses entirely full screen. Vatista's best tool here is indeed the laser. Hilda can only block it or jump over it, possibly punish of vat did ground laser. Other than that, any balls thrown Hilda's way can be skewered (ouch). Not to mention, because of the recovery:startup ratio on each chars tools, neither one can punish the other without meter assuming there is only the safe tools being utilized (balls and laser vs skewer). Outside of this it's anyone's game with certain things Hilda can sometimes get away with (setting up her own glum ball vs rush down char) that aren't possible and limiting her to her safest options. Vati is not a bitch to block. Her midrange game is merely ok vs Hilda, but she can keep pressure. Granted not insanely great pressure with no reliable overhead. Meanwhile Hilda has several command highs and low to keep vatista guessing and possibly lose her charge. This game rewards blocking, if either player is caught blocking the other full screen in this match, -they are at the advantage, not the attacker-. Chip must be taken into consideration, as well as time. GRD in this game seems more important than health though. Nothing about this matchup screams vat at all. It's fine

he just explained everything. 22a or b is the launcher. if doing 22b hold b. if doing 22a, after a just go to b as quickly as you can and do 3cc as usual. you must be holding b a little bit before pressing 3cc to end the combo. the timing isn't too strict, but not too lenient either. it shouldn't take too long to find the appropiate timing in training.
  14. Definitely playing tonight, as soon as I have my creativity roll. Look forward to it. So glad to see bb didn't -isn't- dying.
  15. so far from 623c I have seen, and this is keeping in mind there are only 3 possible web placements that can be on the field at any given time; midscreen tk 214bbc 214a. some reason the 214a does not go away on tech 623 a or b 214a 66c 214b or c tk 214c corner after move you are in corner cross through 214c tk 214c in corner, 214a cross through. dash into foe slightly (they are completely in corner. tech wont destroy web if used. I had one that put a web on either side of the foe as they awoke. i'll try to find it. no sure which are most optional for the various options in this game, especially midscreen, but webs already there on wakeup feel good. would really love if there was a setup that gave you a chance at two blockstrings or mixups, like a meaty web and one behind them so that a blockstring ender pushes them back into the web, you can dash in and continue pressure. working on some stuff of my own if I continue to play this char that is. also for ground web on wakeup, is there jump startup in this game? thinking 2c/overhead/block to punish jump/respect/dp respectively. pardon my rambling. question, how much blockstun do these webs even generate? like sometimes i'll do rekka into web for pressure reset and it doesnt get punished as I dash in. better yet, is there a way to record the dummy in training mode?

probably asked a billion times but please bear with me. bnb's or videos to watch? she is a rushdown character so her gameplan is probably very simple; get in, stay in. so what are her capabilities on the offensive and defensive? last tier ist puts her in a category of her own: A. so she is obviously packing heat (lol) I've heard of a blockstring guide as well? don't worry I will be trying to look for these things, but just in case I miss something important... started trying her out today after being enormously frustrated with this game's defensive mechanics, and the fact the even the most scrubby of gordeau oki is so oppressive... need a dp char to start off with. of all the dp characters she seems the most interesting although I didnt like her too much in melty, she seems a perfect fit for this game and it's mechanics. plus she has a whip, which is a cool weapon to fight with. please any help is appreciated
  17. It just got boring. As said it's the same old same old every year for 5 years. Next year we get 3 new characters and a new mechanic. Ironically it's staying original to ct by time looping for real with each new iteration. When cp2 comes out yay celica will be fun for a while and the will be hate and people will win tourneys and before you know it cp extend will be the most balanced version of bb ever. And on and on... One thing is for certain. Most characters in this game have stayed original, and to say otherwise is, quite simply, batshit. Sorry, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just don't see at all how this is true in any form.
  18. Sounds legit and certainly beats the originality theory.
  19. Then cs1 litchi and bang happened. Not even going to include the gene hazard dlc we got.
  20. you masochist, you. perhaps you should take a look in the loktest thread to see exactly why it isnt a good idea to get loktest info so early.
  21. learn something new everyday. anyone know when the next test will be? haven't heard any huge news in a bit. is it today or tomorrow?
  22. no one knows yet. fast. equivalent to small or S. before you possibly ask or state; no its not technically called f. no I don't know why he used f instead of s. but it means the same thing.
  23. me too. its most definitely in rach favor even if she gets stars she doesnt have much in the way of dealing with pumpkin or stopping it from coming out, for one thing.
  24. we'll be ok. and no one is going anywhere. at this point, the only reason most of us stay is because of character love. how many times must this loketest cycle be repeated? I suppose as long as they keep their loketests public...
  25. im sooo tired of working hard and dying...where is my grim reaper buttons T.T if you cant beat em, join em i guess. evo is going to be full of gordeau i bet. so annoying.
