    Honestly if you don't have people to play against in real life, you're not going to become very good at this game. You can try, but in the end you're just going to lose to people who do have people to play. Whether you care enough about playing fighting games competitively to travel around the country to play people is up to you.

    You guys are talking about different things. DW is talking about people who play the game who aren't necessarily organized or actively participating in a community, but are up for GG whenever they can get it. SJ is talking about a large-scale competitive scene, like EVO, where there has to be a large turnout for the game to be recognized in any way. There are people who still play GG, but they realize the scene is dying/dead in America, and are just trying to play as much as possible while they can. but what do i know i live in canada
