Here's how Xanadu tournaments work. Xanadu ain't that big of a place, and we run our tournaments like pre-SF4 tournaments, if you want a tournament you do it yourself. It's a Free for all for table space. There are tons more Marvel3/Capcom players at Xanadu than any other. But the problem with them is that they're new-heads and they're not use to having to bring their own setups and coming early to secure space. In fact, a lot of the times there maybe two Marvel3 setups for 20+ Marvel3 players. All of Xanadu's systems are going to be used up for the capcom games, but that's usually all the setups that they get.
Smaller scenes like P4U can use this to their advantage. Follow the local KOF scene's example. Come early bring a setup or two, claim a table and call out for sign ups. (Most of them are coming all the way from NoVA, to boot) You'd prob want to talk to Rugal about handling entry money. I haven't seen your face, and probably other people haven't either, so they might not trust you with their money.
But all this is prob getting ahead of yourself. KOF is small, but they're well connected and organized. Even though they're small they mobilize well and show consistency, which in turn gives them growth. P4U/BB doesn't even have a presence. Showing up for the monthly would mostly be a show of the game's existence. Then you'd need the follow-thru to establish the game's presence. Connect with the players, post on the forums/facebook group, etc.
@GG players:
We should make an attempt to practice before Civil War. Who's going to be at Xanadu this Friday and Saturday. I will be, after I get off work. How bout Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or all three days?
Is it still just Me, Eli, and Shazy in my car for civil war?
