  1. Well, that's pretty hard to say since it took a while for the #R tier lists to settle. Robo-Ky used to be A rank, but fell to B rank even if Arisaka was an absolute god with him. Sharon was a beast with Baiken, but even he couldn't pull her up a rank in #R. N-O was ranked #1 in a-cho ranbats and could beat a lot of players, but Venom's rank didn't improve either. On the same note Ruu, who plays a D ranked character, and easily compete with Ogawa and Shounen, who both play S ranked characters, but Bridget is still considered D tier in most cases. On second thought, Ogawa would probably make Sol S tier... only because Ogawa cheats. Well, this is only one guy's opinion. If you remember previous tier lists by other players, S, A, and D tier were pretty consistent, but B and C tiers were shifted around quite a bit. At the most I'd put Sol as B rank, but since he doesn't really excel at anything I think C rank is more accurate for him. A player's skill effecting the outcome of their character's rank on a tier list is subjective. Isa, P.C, and 012 are all top Sol players and some of Japan's best, but calling them significantly worse than say... Ogawa is probably a bit harsh. They've been playing Sol since #R (to my knowledge, maybe earlier), so if anyone was going to show Sol's theory potential it would be one of them. Unfortunately, in the end it's all theory fighter vs. facts and game mechanics. Yes, in theory Sol can get clean hit GV combos off of anything for no meter, but in theory, he can also just VV through everything, be it pressure or pokes that give him trouble. The cold, hard fact is that Sol still suffers problems he has always had since XX: average pokes and average mix up. Nothing else he has really makes up for his averageness. Other than this guy's opinion, I haven't seen Testament or Eddie ranked above each other in tier lists. All I see them listed as is S rank, but in no particular order. I don't think Shounen's level of play really makes that big of an impact here; he's been raping people since #R when Testament was low tier.
  2. C = average/mid-tier. I mean, even if Ogawa suddenly became the best Sol in Japan it wouldn't change the fact that Sol is just too average all around. It's a character design flaw right now, and no player can change that. For example, Ogawa's Eddie in Slash was pretty damn good and he still raped a lot of people, but that didn't change the fact that Eddie in Slash was C tier and quite weak overall. Think of tiers like this: S = too strong A = strong B = very good C = good/average/solid D = below average/lacking Also, Testament isn't "magically" number 1. It's been agreed for quite some time now that Testament and Eddie are the two top characters in Accent Core.
  3. It's not really the fact that there are no stellar Sol players right now, but it's due to the fact that Sol's character design is flawed. In Accent Core, Sol doesn't have anything that seperates him from the higher tiered cast. His pokes are average, his mix up is average, and his average damage is slightly above average, and his highest damaging combos quickly reach their threshhold in most situations (jacking up the guard bar is pretty hard now that GF doesn't do guard meter build up). Overall he's still a very solid character, but he doesn't have anything that he excels in. Sol is just average all around, pretty much. I definitely agree with what was said about him.
  4. POscrub, I went back and edited my post to note the typo. Just an FYI.
  5. This I already know, but the subject of the conversation happened to be discussing a scenario when are balls flying everywhere (no homo) for space control. I came to that conclusion after the words "grand battle" came up. 6P AA or air throw (though 6P is much more effective and efficient since that move is practically unbeatable from the air) are common responses to air dashes already, although if there are slow moving balls flying about the screen, it gives the opponent little room to IAD or jump in at Venom. With that information, I think it's safe to assume that when there's balls controlling space of the screen, Venom has a lot of options that are heavily in his favor.
  6. How dare you confused me. ;_;
  7. Buppa-Lands? Any idea why they call it that? Is it some kind of joke?
  8. [19:40] <A> venom has some very strong anti-air [19:40] <A> so [19:40] <B> yes [19:41] <A> you'll get advantages if the opponent is in the air even though venom doesn't have advantage of grand battle [19:41] <A> but if this sentence is passive voice [19:41] <B> So maybe they mean Venom's grand battle (pool ball zoning everywhere on the screen) wants to force them into the air so he can AA them or force them to the ground with AA. [19:42] <A> then that means venom has to be in the air [19:42] <B> Hm true. [19:42] <A> coz you can't win grand battle [19:43] <B> Odd worded sentence. ww [19:43] <A> nn~ [19:43] <A> i don't know venom well [19:43] <B> Yeah, me too. [19:43] <B> So it is diffuclt to say what the author is saying. [19:43] <A> but i often see jumping venom [19:43] <A> so it can be both meaning Part of a chat log between me and a Japanese friend. His English isn't the best (but very decent), so it may be difficult for him to word it in English. However, I think we got the general idea the sentence is trying to say. BTW, my friend is A and I am B, in case you get confused. I hope this helps. EDIT: "grand battle" is a typo on my friend's part. It's supposed to be "ground battle".
  9. OH MY GOD WE'RE DOOMED[/HALF-LIFE SCIENTIST] Looking forward to it.
  10. Sometimes top plays with top tier characters will do stuff like that. ^_^; Kubo, for example, made a match up chart for Sion, and he listed practically her match ups as 8-2 or 7-3 in her favor.
  11. There's something seriously wrong with your post.
  12. Not sure about Slayer vs May, but it's probably for the same reasons Sol vs. May is tough for Sol. A lot of her normals can beat Slayer's... and Slayer can't AA random j.H unless he wants to eat a random CH 60% combo. I'm guessing your local Pot player isn't experienced enough against Sol. I think it's best to think of the match up this way. At neutral, Sol is playing Potemkin's game. When up close, Sol is playing Potemkin's game. The only time Sol isn't playing Potemkin's game is when he's comboing Pot and/or has him knocked down. In other words, at neautral Sol will have a hard time effectively getting in on Pot unless he can get Pot to whiff a move. Once Sol gets in on Potemkin, he's in Potemkin's most effective range and will potentially eat a PB if not careful.
  13. Sol vs May is probably 4.5 at worst for Sol (from my experience of playing a lot of Mays... and I do mean A LOT; fucking Cali is infested with May players). ABA is a bad match up for Sol; only time he can have control of the match is when she's knocked down, not powered up, or on the defensive. Once ABA powers up Sol has to be really careful. Sol vs. Slayer is probably even for Sol, maybe 4.5 at worst. Slayer's 5K and AAs gives Sol some problems, but Sol isn't really known for having good jump-ins. Other than that, the match is about even I think (this is from my own personal experience playing Koogy a lot). I can see how ABA can be a bad match up for Slayer, considering once she powers up Slayer's normals will usually get cleanly beat by hers when things are neutral between them or she's on the offensive. I'd imagine a good EX uppercut can be annoying for Slayer to deal with too. Nah. I'd say ABA, Potemkin, and Eddie are probably his worst match ups.
  14. Pretty much everyone would play like a DOTA hero.
  15. A machine translation of the registration page is more than enough to register at Nico. But at least you registered...
  16. Knockdown is more important unless you're going for the kill, IMO. But that's a whole different discussion for the Sol forums. D:
  17. lulz definitely not worth it D: Makes for some cool looking combos though. Yeah... I didn't know that GF was toned down from Slash. It seems like it was an unnecessary nerf on ASW's part. Slash Sol wasn't broken per say, except maybe his uppercut was a bit OP, but he happened to be really good because a lot of other top characters lost their bullshit from #R. Oh well. Guess I'll update the change list in my guide. D:
  18. rofl wut Daisuke is on fucking drugs.
  19. Yeah, what TB and CD said. Also, no one in their right mind would do GV RC into GF anyways.
  20. Fafnir had more uses as a normal move than it does as a FB now, unfortunately.
  21. From my (incomplete) Sol 101 Guide: Changes made from Slash to Accent Core: - Fafnir is now a Force Break. It comes out much faster, is completely safe on block, and has a Clean Hit property. Can follow up with Tyrant Rave for another 25% tension on block, hit, or whiff. - 2K-6P gattlings, but will no longer combo. - Air throw is now untechable. - Volcanic Viper (both air and ground versions) damage has been reduced. Tatakiotoshi (followup knockdown kick) untechable time has been increased. - Grand Viper starts up faster, is now only eight hits, and the last hit Sol does an uppercut that leaves him airborne. Last hit has a Clean Hit property. Still unsafe on block, but you won't get Instant Killed anymore. - Gunflame Feint now has a hitbox; hits at Sol's leg. - Gunflame no longer combos on crouching opponents (eg. 5K-2H -> GF). - Air Bandit Revolver has longer untechable time on hit. - Sidewinder now does more damage on Clean Hit. Damage done depends on how many Clean Hits are in the combo (includes Clean Hits from Grand Viper, Fafnir, and other Sidewinders). That should, more or less, cover the changes you were looking for. May be a good idea to read through the guide too, although combos and strategy are currently incomplete.
  22. I think their point was that with tension Johnny's combo does more damage (i.e. it'd do shit damage without KJ FRC), as opposed to Sol where his max damage doesn't really go up even if you use tension to try to add damage (you can use meter to set up his CLSW loop, but they don't necessarily add damage to them). At least that's the way I interpretted it. @_@
  23. I'll admit that mission looks pretty tight. Music was awesome. Hopefully an OST is released soon.
