  1. Has there been gameplay of Sonia yet?
  2. I feel you, nadakai... Drem, Richmond, really? I head there sometimes for tournaments anyway. That event sounds vaguely familiar, I'll try to hit it up myself. I'm just in Raleigh, so it's not far. CEOtaku's prereg numbers in the first week were pretty promising for AH3 and AP. Not so promising for Marvel 3, lol...which was thought to be something to draw numbers to the tournament. edit: and apparently, if I'm understanding the registration page correctly, if the side games get enough entries, which they seem on track to do, they can become main games.
  3. Anybody going to this? https://www.facebook.com/events/574199709401099/597256323762104/ I'm all booked to go. The whole thing feels kind of...odd, but whatever, it's a tournament. AH was previously listed as a main game, but Jebailey tells me that the game recently has "the lowest numbers" at tournaments. Could very well be true...but anyway, he says if we have the numbers (20), we can be bumped up to real game status. Anyway, I'm also in Xrd, AP, MB, UNIB and SKM if they do that. Same for KOF. I'm just hoping it's not a fluke. It's kind of on us to make it all happen and continue to happen, but eh...I've seen no talk of it really?
  4. Trying to get some kind of side event going for AP and Koihime at CEOtaku. Have a thread started here: https://www.facebook...74199709401099/

  6. Chizuru definitely has a dp. That's an overhead for some reason, and can cross up somehow. And a dp super.
  7. Fighting game moves are commonly referred to whatever their obvious inspiration was, since things are often more or less reused due to whatever that kind of special is suiting its purpose so well, like how you might hear someone call Touka or Kamui's tiger knee (another example!) overhead a "TK youzansen", that being Baiken's move which served a very similar purpose/function. That's the only other AP-specific example I can think of...except like how Morgan has Guile/Charlie supers. Same for how all manual input combo supers are called "deadly raves" from Geese's popularized example, 214 moves are called tatsus, etc.
  8. Quadruple larked now. It's a conspiracy...
  9. Interesting. I can't drive either; legal blindness.
  10. Interesting. Sounds about like what I was thinking. Hey, see you at Evo btw?
  11. I'd be interested to see what an updated tier list looks like, eh-sama. I'm going to guess Tamaki, Konomi/Karulau, then Chizuru?
  12. The second arcade mode is a different arcade mode, like how AH or AP have two. The super choice powers up one or the other, usually a boost in damage. The moves/characters being similar to 3S/SNK were obviously intentional. Anyway, I just came here to ask if anybody knew how to pick more than just the like default 3 colors?
  13. So, I really hoped the patch would fix this for me, but it's still happening. I can't play about half of the people online. I know I won't be able to play people when their connections show as 4s and it won't give me their R-codes. Before, the rooms would also glitch out with messages about those players leaving every time someone else comes in/leaves. What's weird is this includes even local friends that I've played online previously, PS3 and PS4 players. Anybody know how to fix this? I'm thinking it has something to do with me using a JP digital share version of the game, I guess? Really seems like that shouldn't matter, but I can't think of anything else. I have NAT 2 on cable, wired, not using anything else at the time.
  14. I never thought of Octavia as that bad the more I played, honestly. If only 5D wasn't techable... I felt like the weakest assist was Rathty. Sometimes, the hammer spin can be strong, but otherwise it's just a simple damage assist where you probably have better options. As far as the game, yeah...I think it's fine, too. A lot of the people that quit complained about the emotion system, guard breaks, Chizuru and all that...but really, none of it is that bad lol. Just the way of how things go in the anime community, go with the popular excuse to move on to the next thing.
  15. It's virtually impossible. Believe me, I tried. I've gotten a lot of rounds, but never a match. You can use the tips in the first post the best you can, though. There's always a huge amount of "luck" involved if you're not doing something like the Metal Angie method. Even in that Lilica example, things still went really well for him. If you persist long enough, it will eventually happen, but...yeah. It's ridiculous.
  16. WOAH GUYS. Turns out shadowbringer was on to something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PdMGN8CGE50#t=121 That's not a small change. We're going from them teching immediately on hit to it basically bringing us to neutral. Wow. Okay, so...if you're at far poking range, just try the damn thing. Your other options would leave you at neutral anyway, and you might get 10k. Holy crap. I'm actually almost wondering if the guy just didn't tech as soon as he could have for some reason, but...well, anyway, apologies to the community, but if you thought you saw too many Fionas before, it's going to get worse.
  17. I don't think that's likely...but I'd certainly welcome it. You'd see players more often go for it then, because Grand Divide as a standalone move isn't terrible, or at some ranges of Bs it's one of the only things that will combo. It will become more of an option to try than...well, in my case, just going for clean hit series in corners on certain characters. After a 6B. lol, wow 6B. If Collbrand just guard crushes...eh, cool with me. I doubt I'll use it much for that, but could be interesting. Still don't think Earth is optimal, lol. She needs a lot of help with controlling things at neutral to really be effective. Wind will still be able to do that very well, I might add.
  18. Oh of course, that's what I was referring to when I mentioned Wind. Can still do a 4-way with Earth, though, or just fly around like an ass with j.C.
  19. So I was watching SS vids today before I knew the changelist was out, and I noticed pretty much nothing. 4 Fiona matches or so, the only thing that stood out was how they were reversing with Blasts every round and it was working lol ;p Anyway, here's what we got, and what I think of them: Fiona Mayfield Simple Mode - bug in 4A fixed: I have no idea what this is, but am impressed that somebody played Simple Mode enough to find a bug in it 6B - faster startup, added lower body invincibility until after attack startup: hahahahaha Caletvwlch - no counter frames, Extend Blast, will get blown off when hit with Arcana Burst: Good news on the counter frames, I'll take that, and apparently my counter strategy for Wind Fiona will no longer work because of the latter, or...? To be continued! Caletvwlch (air) - active frames longer, longer time to cancel after landing, added chip damage: Awesome, it was pretty tight to cancel this on landing, especially for EFCs. I think I talked about this earlier in the thread. Collbrand - active frames of A and B versions shorter, guard crush effect only on opponent in air: I take this to mean it's air unblockable again Grand Divide - no damage proration, can only cancel recovery when blocked: No proration? Looks like clean hits are going to be pretty sweet Misty Chain - no damage proration: Oh my? Angel Wing - increased recovery if followup is not performed: ...Remember that "to be continued"? Well, this and the next change means the Wind setup isn't a thing anymore. YO PLAY OTHER ARCANAS UNNNNNNGH aaaaaAAaa Sacred Bringer, Sacred Punish, Sacred Slayer - added untechable time, shorter recovery on mishit, added recovery when whiffed: Again, promoting use of clean hits, lessening punishment on failure so long as you connect at all (though I'm 100% certain you're still getting punished) Excalibur - no counter frames, Extend Blast, will get blown off when hit with Arcana Burst: Same as what I was saying about 623 earlier. Good stuff. So, nice stuff all around. They really don't want to give her back j.B, which is okay, I'm getting used to life without it. Apparently, Examu doesn't want anybody to ever block 6B.
  20. A Fiona just doing moves becomes bad really quickly. You know, I actually remember the name BlackNeppy from Aquapazza. I think he would run away with Multi. Anyway, one thing to note about Excalibur is that you can't actually "punish" the ground version per se, at least not normally. She's knocked down after it, so instead of awkwardly trying to start a combo on her just to have the player tech and get away scott free for doing guess Excalibur, use the knockdown like you would normally to mix her up. Fiona on defense is very bad. If they're doing anything else...air Excalibur (which you need to 4D in the air), 623s (the armored move), Grand Divide, just hitting C, all of that...shouldn't be a problem. She doesn't even really have a good button to "just do" at neutral anymore like vanilla AH3 j.B. The closest thing would be j.C, but not really in general neutral situations. If you can either control the screen or stay on top of her, there isn't that much to worry about. She's one of those characters that's really strong at low level, for sure. But, I mean you get past that quickly. Losing to a bad anybody in this game is really a rarity, except in my case probably Eko because I still haven't fought her enough to get past feeling like she's just doing things lol. edit: Re: Fiona mirrors specifically, this is going to sound somewhat conceited regardless of how I put it, but I don't think I've lost one so I certainly don't mind them. My style usually lends itself well to how she plays in the neutral and I usually get the upper hand that way. I haven't played many known Fionas who are my level or better.
  21. Yeah, I think it may always have had that problem...or at least as eh_sama said, it's been around a long time. Someone tried telling me DFC was like Aquapazza recently. lol, I don't think so.
  22. I posted this in a FB group, but thought I'd share my thoughts here. So, I think I've watched enough Blade Arcus to have an idea of how/what it is. It looks like Battle Fantasia, Koihime/AP and CFJ mixed together. Sound weird? Well...yeah. It's 1vs1 technically, but like Jam you can switch characters between rounds. Inactive character is your assist character with multiple assists and you can Saving Shift a combo. That's KOFXI for doing an assist while you're being hit, of course using resources and doing damage comparable to like a guard cancel. Chip doesn't kill. The characters...well, right now, and it's very early still, some of them do seem appreciably stronger. A rundown of what we have here: Main black dress katana girl character that seems like one of the top in the game. DP. Arawn j.B. Short range Orie stab. Good overhead. Aaaand VERY strong Johnny cancels for pressure and good combos. Good, solid and effective rushdown. No projectile. Turns into Karulau and Sasara basically for her supers lol. Main dude katana character with like a shirt around his waist or something: Similar to katana girl, but slower and with bigger normals and huge specials. Looks pretty simple. Seems good, but not amazing. He looks like he's from Bleach or something. Chinese martial artist girl because every game has that! Well, she's Chun Li and Athena with repukens and a beam super. Her dp is just like df+LK from SF4. Her stance is exactly Athena's. Basically another simpler strong main character. Cat girl. Very, very cat girl. Dive kick and really strong, REALLY annoying pressure. I mean, maybe even better than the first character I mentioned. Probably high tier, but doesn't seem to have so much in the way of defensive options. She's like a cross between Kohaku and Taokaka as far as design. Witch girl, whose name is Melty lol. She hits you with ice cream. Zoning character. Her projectiles and way of swinging stuff like a bat reminds me of Ai from NGBC. Has an okay overhead. Seems decent. Lots of ice cream. Elf archer. Strong, Mina-esque arrows. Vertical, diagonal, setups, delayed, etc. Has Morgan's slide. Kind of reminiscent of several archer characters. Seems decent. Would need a counter assist or certain characters to get in on her, I think. The Brent (me) character, heavy armor/weapons girl who is basically Sasara minus the dp and plus j.C being an unsafe instant overhead. That's pretty much it. Um...yeah. She doesn't seem very good. Needs better anti airs/a reversal of some kind. Popular, though, because Japanese people like Brent characters too. Shield bash also has an aerial version that's a dive move, but its activation is like Rugal dive in that she hovers a bit before falling. Fists dude. He's like Akatsuki. Pretty decent fireball. Seems decent. Eyepatch Alucard. Exactly as it sounds. His moves are like Goenitz, but with more of a delay before the lightning strike (in this case) for setups. Multi-hit dagger normals. Seems like a grimy dude. High tier, definitely. Wolf dude. There's totally a wolf dude. Fights with claws, decent damage, rushdown. Doesn't seem overly impressive. Standard martial arts character. I hope they can fix some of the problems I've heard about (head to heads having some kind of delay), but for the most part I think the game looks fun.
  23. Ernest, they're trying to get your attention in the AC Ky forum. Enough with this AP nonsense and go do something important lol ;p That Arawn/Camyu sounds awesome. I really enjoy seeing good Arawn players, though often their success is from correctly guessing DP repeatedly. Roselinde from that new Blade Arcus game is basically Sasara. Minus the dp, but j.C is an instant overhead combo starter that's unsafe, has what's essentially a Shield Bash dive dick as well as the ground version, B+C, some kind of parry thing with a shield. She looks bad though, The game itself is like Battle Fantasia, AP and CFJ put together. Yeah...
  24. Yo sweet. You da best, Eric.
  25. It's been a couple of years since I went and I can't remember, what are you guys usually doing on Friday night? Singles for certain side games or just teams, etc? I would have been down for 2v2 for sure, but definitely respect and agree with those concerns. I'm hoping Xrd will be big enough to warrant multiple large events for teams/singles.
