  1. If you're coming from the SF scene, then I would definitely recommend getting used to all of Tao's movement options. Tao is different from the rest of the cast because of her great mobility. Get used to using her drives, drive cancels, 3 jumps, and two air dashes. Also get used to cancelling your normals into other normals. Tao has a lot of options for her cancels which create very solid blockstrings and frame traps. Make sure to remember that her 5A, 5B, 5C, and 6A are all jump cancellable. Also important to note is that her air normals can reverse cancel as well (j.B can cancel into j.A, etc.). If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
  2. i totally read this as severe down syndrome. apparently i'm suffering from severe down syndrome drowsiness as well
  3. Hey Xie, just wanted to say very nice job with episode 5 and keep up the good work
  4. Hey XDest and Cake, did you guys go to Canada Cup?
  5. Also, don't quote me on this, but I believe Xie is going to make basic tutorial videos for all the characters in his Beginner Mode series. For more info about Beginner Mode, go here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?12605-Beginner-Mode-The-BlazBlue-Mechanics-Discussion-Show!-(Next-11-1)
  6. Tao is a very situational character who strongly excels with solid pressure, good hit confirms, and the ability to utilize all of her movement options. Because of this, I don't feel that there is a "right" way to play Taokaka, so there isn't really a way to make a tutorial video. The key to excelling at Tao is to become good at the three things I mentioned. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them from my experience with Tao, or if you'd like to post a video of your own gameplay, I or one of the other Tao players will certainly critique your own play if you ask for it.

  12. Ok so I thought I understood Tao's jumps/dashes in the air, but I really didn't. I figured I would share this information just in case people don't know about it. Tao has 3 jumps + 2 air dashes in the air. Any drive cancels consume one jump. j.8D consumes one jump. That's very basic information. However, it seems that air dashes also consume jumps. For example, if you jump, air dash, jump, that's all you can do (besides drive with no cancel of course). There is also an exception to this rule. Sorry in advance because I can't think of a proper way to phrase this. If you use drive cancels, it still consumes a jump, but it does not affect the amount of air dashes you can do. For example, if you jump, j.D~C, j.D~C you have used up all three of your jumps already. However, you still have both of your air dashes available to you despite having no jumps left. My apologies if this was ever described in the past, but I didn't see it anywhere when I first started to learn how to play Tao and honestly I didn't understand this exception to Tao's jumps until now. All I ever knew was those basic three rules I listed at the beginning. I really think this is very helpful information to truly understand Tao's air options and would like to see this posted in the Taokaka strategy guide for the newer players.
  13. ggs today to everyone that showed up. glad to see the community growing stronger. results will be posted shortly
  14. Another air ender: j.8D~A -> j.C -> j.8D~A -> 2D~C -> j.9D~5 -> j.6D~6 -> j.C -> .. -> j.9D~9 -> j.3D~3 -> j.236Bx5
  15. My character is carrying me since no one knows the matchup. People are understanding the matchup more and more though and I'm proud to say that the competition is getting tougher every week
  16. October Singles Ranbat Results 1) Mystic d 2) BeaverDeity 3) Dagger_g 4) AkiraS 5) SolarMisae 5) Low Tier Guy 7) Gypsy 7) itsme
  17. For what it's worth: 5B (Anti-Air) -> 5C -> JC -> j.8D~A -> land -> j.C -> j.8D~A -> 2D~9 -> j.9D~9 -> j.3D~C -> j.C -> j.6D~6 -> j.C -> j.9D~9 -> j.236BBBBB [3737] Also, I'm sure Tao has some nice Gold burst combos now that can probably reach 8 or 9k in corner (unless they changed the P2 of gold burst; i didn't read all of the system changes)
  18. Also, does anyone know what we can get off of j.C now? CH and non-CH? Does (non-CH) j.C -> dash -> 5B -> 3C -> 214C work still?
  19. So a thought just occured to me and I'd just like to hear other people's opinions. I feel like the reason they nerfed her CA was to make Tao take a little more risks. Now when under pressure Tao can CA or find a gap (IB mash :3) and Hexa-Edge. Of course you can't Hexa-Edge out of blockstun, but at least you have a little more invincibility frames when you can use it. Hexa-Edge is easily punished though so maybe they nerfed her CA so she doesn't really have a "safe" get out of pressure option? EDIT: Also, Tao CSX is still looking very solid, so don't worry people. If I had to rank her, as of now, she'd be where she always was, top of A tier
  20. My personal thoughts after first match videos seen: I'm liking this new Tao better. Her midscreen damage was too high compared to the rest of the cast in CS2. To compensate they gave her much strong damage output in the corner. Throws are still very powerful and even better than before. They also gave her slightly harder hit confirms which makes her a little more difficult to play, but at the same time at least everything isn't brain-dead. It should just take a little bit of practice and Tao should be very solid and probably better than before. Also, Hexa-Edge doesn't wall bounce anymore :/
