chodenji or something close to that...electromagnetic/magnetic/magnetism.
-
If you throw someone out of guard break stun, it is always a purple throw, even 360s/720s.
-
This dude? You should be rolling him alllll day. :^) If you know he's going to DP after a Gadget, you can backdash it late as all heck and it'll miss. Or you can just do something ending in 5D instead.
-
dreamskep- now you know why teh wimmins all hate me. Dacid - gee, I wish I had girls willing to drive me around everywhere I went. Must be the hair. Also: I have a job interview in GA Monday and Tuesday, so can't nobody play those days, methinks. Sorry for the late notice, but y'know, it's a job, so I kinda gotta.
-
Tron/ShinAT - Sounds good. Copper - a job I want? :^) A chance to betatest Makoto in SSF4? :^P

You can do ACx2, Gadget, but you may as well do the combo first. They can all be ended with that.
-
Barrier 720 doesn't work. :^( On the other hand, here's some stuff! - You can hold Gadget Finger, which is how you do 360B, ASledge, Gadget...or AC, BSledge, Gadget. (Hey, I didn't know!) BSledge, Gadget doesn't work on Carl, he can tech before he hits the floor from the Sledge. :^( - BSledge and j.2C now do the exact same amount of damage. So at the end of most combos, there is no reason to end a combo with whiff j.C, late j.2C, Gadget (difficult!) instead of just BSledge, Gadget (easy). Elbow Gadget is slightly faster to hit, though, which can matter after longer combos. BSledge has worse proration, but that doesn't matter since Gadget does no damage. :^) ** BGadget = BSledge, Gadget ** EGadget = whiff j.C, late j.2C, Gadget - Hitting with AC more than once in a combo is subject to that new 'loop proration' and causes the rest of the combo after the 2nd AC to do absolutely crud damage. - After an AC late in a combo, even when you can’t do anything into Gadget, or even a 2D… you can still do a 5D. It’ll catch them on the bounce, do dmg, add magnetism, and seems to work on everyone (even Carl.) - Ending a combo (where you can do a Gadget) with 5D xx Gadget whiff lets you do sj.C, then falling D to end up right next to them again and pull techs towards you. Some combos! All are magnetized. Sorry they all start with 2C, hard to test AC stuff by myself. ** ACx2 = magnetized AC, whiff AC - Basis: 2C xx ACx2, 6B->2C xx AC, BGadget = 3820 - 2C xx ACx2, 6B xx ASledge, 2B->2C xx AC, BGadget= 3957 (works on everyone!) - 2C xx AC, whiff j.D, late j.2C, 2B xx AC, EGadget = 4000 - 2C xx ACx2, 2B->2C->5D xx Spark, 5C->6A->2C xx AC, 5D = 4435, and can cancel to Gadget whiff - 2C xx AC, whiff j.D, late j.2C, 2B->2C->5D xx Spark, 5C->6A->2C xx AC, 5D = 4621 - 2C xx ACx2, 6B xx Spinny (5091) xx Terra Break, Gadget = 6550 On Haku, Arakune, Noel, Litchi: 2C xx ACx2, 6B xx ASledge, 2B->2C->5D xx Spark, 6A xx Gadget (they tech), 720. Whee. Fatal CH’s add extra hitstun, so off a CH 2C some things will combo that usually won’t: - 5C->6C - 6C->j.C->j.D - juggle ASledge, 5C or 2C - 5B->5C So a few examples, all crappy dmg: - CH 2C, 5C->6C xx ASledge, 5C->6C, j.C->j.D - CH 2C, [5C xx ASledge] x3, Hammer - magnetized CH 2C, 5C->6A->2C xx ACx2, 5B->5C->6C, j.2C

We have a separate room just for that.

This isn't really an 'event', well maybe it is...anyway, CS is here. However, since I'm now jobless and CS was decently expensive, there is a... Suggested donation: Most people - $5, for as long as you want to be here. If you can't afford it, well then that's probably fine too. CT Nu players - $7, I know you can afford it since you won all those tournaments. Tronzilla - $5 + $5 venue fee. (^.^) If you know me, you are invited pretty much any afternoon or evening. Call first, please. Current Schedule (since my apartment is tiny): Wed 12/16 - BangC+1, Severin, Soniti, Babs, Phones, Sanchez, Gnat, Ike Thurs 12/17 - Busy, no BB.

Mike Z's apartment! :^D

Doesn't look like he recovers in time. Maybe on CH but I doubt it. 2C xx AC still has to be high enough for the AC to hit, of course, but the point was that they can't plain old IB and escape easily...they wouldn't be able to hit him anyway, now. :^)
-
Same as CT. 720 and 360s stick you in place - they are not pulled in by the other player doing something magnetic. So we both did 'em out of range, and nobody moved. :^)

From Tager's perspective, vs Rachel right now feels like 6.5-3.5. Talk about turning a match around. (O.o) Fork counterhit is terrible, j.2C is terrible, her combos don't hurt and off a 360A he can do 4k + magnetism. I almost feel bad for Rachel players...almost... On the other hand, you can call lightning from cannon shots now, which is pretty cool!
-
- Airblock->land->backdash bug is removed. - If you tech roll and then Barrier, it is impossible to cancel out of that Barrier with ANYTHING before the roll would have been finished. (Using CT frame data, roll is 17f total, can Barrier on 10f, which would mean 7f you are stuck in Barrier). Not only that, you are forced to crouch during that time. It probably won't come up much, but is good to know.

So I finally got to play today. Rachel sucks and Litchi and Bang are amazing. [Elbow Gadget = j.C, falling latest possible elbow, Gadget] vs Rachel, there is no reason to ever do a 360B. Why? Off 360B, 5C->6A xx AC won't combo. Off 360A, you can actually do 5C->6A xx AC, and still follow up! (Elbow Gadget or whatever.) Or if magnetized, 5C->6A xx AC, whiff AC 6B->2C xx AC, Spark etc...or 5C->6A xx AC, whiff AC, 6B xx Spinny+Terra Break, Gadget. Wooooowwwww....not like Rachel's any threat anymore, but it's pretty awesome anyway. - In general, Gadget after Terra Break is pretty nice. - 2C->4D is possible for a decently safe string that takes a guard primer and combos on hit! - Since instant block won't defend against air-unblockable moves anymore, 2C xx AC as antiair is guaranteed! Either they get hit by the 2C, or they barrier it and get unblockable'd. - For those of you who can't or don't want to do Elbow Gadget, but need magnetism...you can just do AC, BSledge, 4D. In certain situations it actually does more damage, too. Off a regular throw combo, Elbow Gadget hurts more, but otherwise it seems like the 4D combo does more dmg. - If they are magnetized, instead of Elbow Gadget you can do AC, whiff AC, jump elbow as soon as you can, Gadget. I find this a ton easier. - AC, whiff AC, 6B xx Spinny is amazing because, since AC is a throw, they can't burst until they get hit by the 6B! I think this is the new burst bait combo. Also, since all Distortions have a minimum amount of damage they will do, something like AC, whiff AC, 6B->2C xx AC, whiff AC, 6B xx Spinny+Terra Break, Gadget is actually pretty decent damage...and still sets up a mixup. - Gadget cancels are pretty neato. AC, Sledge, Spark, 5C xx Gadget whiff, 5C etc. Or with magnetism, combo to AC, whiff AC, 6B->2C xx Gadget whiff, Astral as a tech trap. Hee hee. I couldn't get AC, whiff AC, 6B xx Gadget whiff, 5C to actually combo. It probably does, and I'm just slow...? - Gadget RC can be used to hit people in the air; we knew that. However, if you time the next hit juuuust right, you can hit them standing! Gadget RC 5D (stagger stun) xx Spark, etc; Gadget RC 6A, 360B; Gadget RC 5D xx Cross Your Heart for a better (?) mixup than just Gadget by itself. - I couldn't get an AC after Gadget RC, nor could I get a Spinny to combo. :^( - AC into corner, 6C->5D xx Gadget whiff, walk forward is a hella scary thing to do. I'm not a big fan of Gadget mixups, I prefer the other ones. Gadget is hella predictable, and I've already had people (Litchi for example) get out of everything.
-
Only works on those chars you can 5B, and it looks like the 4D only hit because Ragna was already magnetized. :^(

It appears that Collider, throw, and the 360s have many fewer proration points in CS, which means a lot of things that were techable before aren't now. Good to know about the 360s!

Really now, I thought everybody had seen this: How to kara throw. (The rest of the tutorial is also excellent, and it all applies to pretty much every game.) Kara means cancelling the beginning of a normal move into something else. [edit] Kara comes from the slop allowance that was added to games so people who aren't very good can do something like 2,3+Fierce,6+release Fierce and still get a negative-edge fireball by canceling the first frames of the Fierce. It has come to mean canceling any normal into a special such that the normal doesn't hit - witness Makoto's s.Short bug in 3s. Usually it is even extended to things like Cable's Scimitar xx AHVB, since the Scimitar is just used for movement. Kara-canceling a normal in MvC2 is useless for 2 reasons: Almost no normals actually move your character anywhere, and you are allowed to whiff-cancel a normal at any time anyway.
-
There's a store named Builty Bear... ATproof - Yukikaze would have won you SO MANY ROUNDS! Especially if you can do the faster-startup-vs-projectiles version (where you do it late so it counters on the first frame, and the startup before the hit is roughly 2x as fast).
-
Makoto doesn't get a meaty either. You're right, there are differences, but my point was that every option where you get to hit them from the advantageous mixup can lead back into the same advantageous mixup. Very few characters have this, anywhere. Also IIRC something at one point said Gadget is +3.
-
For the people worried about Gadget mixup, compare it to 3s Makoto. A command grab leads to a 33/33/33 attack/block/jump situation, with: Attack - Makoto must block or parry. Tager can 360a or collider most stuff! DPs must be blocked for both. Block - command grab back into mixup, just like Makoto. Jump - collider back into mixup, even better than Makoto. And she wins whole rounds just off of that.
-
Hey Tron, yeah you weren't playing like you usually do, and I heard you left before your match in losers' - don't die or nothin'.
-
Grats Nu, you Deserve it! <3 Soniti - next time, you should really wear Fred's whole getup. :^)

I'm Jewish, and like I said - nobody pays me. I'm also not attending. I suggest everyone else go, though. Should be fun! If you're not trying to get money from people, why are you spending pages on here arguing about the fee instead of just getting rid of it? QED. (If you're really ordering food beforehand, it's not too hard to change the terms to "venue fee will be your fraction of the food costs which I promise I'm not lying about, I'll show you receipts to prove it, please believe me please".) See you at FFA - whose venue fee is at least partially justified by the fact that we would have been paying 50 cents a game to go there...and is still less than yours.
