I do feel stupid, but that's never stopped me before! :^P I severely disagree with Tron charging people money to drive to his own house, to play people they could play anywhere if only the could agree on when to go. Competition pays to come to him! The only thing Tron did was decide on a time and declare it. Heck, I'd host it with no venue fee, heh. OK, I'm done being dumb and I'll probably attend*, but you have to admit if you step back and think about it, a venue fee for someone's house pretty much just comes across as greedy. * pending that MM for venue fee. :^)

I disagree with the fact that you "have to make a bit in return" - I don't charge when people come here to play, and we have pizza too. (Also FYI they lose $10K+ every year on Evo. They go above and beyond the call of duty to provide for the gaming community - so that just makes you look worse. Heh.) How about a MM for the venue fee? :^P Although providing food is a step above ActiveGamers...

The advertisement on their website (which has mysteriously disappeared!) and on the first page of this thread (quick someone stop them from editing it!), in addition to promises to sponsors and the press, constitutes a legally binding document as much as, say, a website or print ad declaring the price of some item. In fact, you would think the sponsors would be upset - anyone point this out to Starbucks yet? :^) As well, the fact that we handed over money to them with the express expectation that they would deliver on those promises makes that all false advertising, which is definitely a legal problem.

Um, so in all seriousness a venue fee is only charged to cover renting the space, providing the food, or paying for things without which the tourney can't be run. Since this is at your (?) house, it appears you are just pocketing the money, which looks pretty shady...

People might as well accept that there will probably be no payment... I'm guessing ActiveGamers thinks there'll be no recourse. Anybody here a lawyer? :^)

I'll do it for you. Rules for a Successful Tournament: 1 - Have the equipment necessary (TVs, consoles, etc) on hand, well before the day of the tournament. Test TVs for lag, and ensure they have all necessary input ports. 2 - Let people in on time. 3 - Provide food/drinks commensurate to the amount people expect, given what is being charged for entry/venue. (For a $20 venue fee with loud basketball next to the tournament all day, this means more than 'none'.) 4 - Run all the tournaments you've claimed you will, and don't collect money for one if it won't be run. 5 - Actually pay the winners. Preferably in cash and immediately after the tournaments finish. I think that about sums it up, no? Doesn't matter about advising them - notice how there are no apologies? They probably think nobody noticed, or something. At any rate, people won't attend anything else they run because of #5.

SledgeA vs. nirvana super is clashing with each of her hits. Clash allows you to cancel into anything, so you can cancel it into another SledgeA. She doesn't stop so you can repeat the process. For proof - screw with your timing, or go all the way to the hits at the end so you don't clash (slower hits), and you won't be able to cancel it anymore.

It might be a long drive, but it's always worth it if you can win! (^.^)

FWIW, they were very accommodating and helpful to me as BB tourney director - they provided a laptop with Tio, and put up with the console switching shenanigans during BB finals. (West Coast Warzone didn't allow the finals to be held on PS3, this did and they were even nice about it.) The UFrag people were all very nice. Special props to sexy-teacher-transformation-maid. That said...two words: spectator fee. Too much money was charged for this giant letdown, and there wasn't even water provided! Evo does all that and more - for as much as we paid, I expected food, or at least drinks; to be let into the venue on time; and for the winners to get their money as soon as they won. Also, they charged me an entry fee even though I ran BB. (Which went completely smoothly! Thanks to all the players for that at least. :^) Overall: 1 out of 5 stars, Would Not Attend Again. The 1 star is for the aforementioned help. What made this fun at all was getting to see everyone I never get to see. Next time they should all just come to my apartment...

The Tager in that first vid played very well. Using Spark Bolt to try to hit Arakune punishing the Sledge that Tager should have done to get rid of the cloud...hell, that's yomi! It didn't work, but that's beside the point.

Also don't forget that quick-get-up gives you throw invincibility, as well as the chance to go for a fast CH 2C or something.

With the one exception of the Nu-killer, since she bursts right away all the time, and that combo only works after a burst because of the extra super meter gain.
