I did use it a few times, though I did use it less and less as the matches went on. I did eventually stop using it at all. But yeah, I was afraid of that. Trying to figure out the way people play each game with only two/three matches to do it in is such a pain. It's like that online too. I will just get completely mashed out in the first couple of games against everybody before I start winning. I'm pretty certain now with your input and others that I'm just too impatient and try to jump on every opportunity far too much. I'll just have to work on it. Thanks!

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm watching Final Round and apparently you can select the old themes like Lust Sin? A bunch of other people and I are trying to figure it out. Can't see anything in the DLC market or anything. -
It's time for... Kiba (Tsubaki) vs LordSpectreX (Azrael) - Timestamped Twitch I won't bother showing the other matches as one is me trolling and the other is me just getting massed DP by Kagura while I try and figure out the matchup. :P. But it's at 1h32m22s if you wish to see it. D: 20 minutes on Youtube of resident mod Kiba vs me. Tried to improve on what was told to me before (no raw Valiants, use more 5A/2A, mixup more often etc). Any more advice would be wonderful. Thank you very much.

Kiba using 2B[w]2BB.. It's a situational way to beat certain options. Even if you're right and they're more bad than good, it doesn't mean it's not useful. Dragon Punches are bad in more situations than they are good, but it doesn't mean they're useless. Is this a joke? Growler doesn't even have enough active frames of invulnerability to cover it's startup completely. If Azrael absorbs a projectile and Tsubaki is close enough to get into 5B range before the recovery ends, then Azrael does not have the advantage in any way. That's the payoff for getting an incredibly quick projectile.
-
Azrael isn't the type of character that just "beats" a character by locking down your options all that much. He's largely psychological, which is why Kiba probably doesn't find him that hard. You never really have to "firm" anything Azrael does. If you read him, you beat him. Even for a character like Tsubaki, she still has whiff cancelable normals, projectiles, a DP, a regular dash. The only generally typical thing she has trouble doing compared to other characters is Growler safe normals (lolhi5CC). Azrael has the advantage sure, but that's largely due to just being a generally stronger character. Also, If Azrael tries to Growler Fireballs for Cannons, you can IAD towards him and do J.C(delay)C in order to option select his backdash. He gets a stock in return for taking a hit/allowing you to start pressure. You might not think it's worth it, sure, but I don't think it's quite the free neutral destroying option that you're making it out to be.

If you're not doing something that would be classified as bullshit in every other fighting game, you aren't playing Arcana Heart 3 correctly.
-
Absolutely. Looking back at it, I did imply that it was completely worthless when I didn't quite mean that. I just meant that this is a very raw, thrown together list. We don't even know what Dogura is even judging in this list (Azrael's Matchups or HIS Azrael's matchups). For example, I hate fighting Mu-12 more than any other character, but I wouldn't say she's technically 'Azrael's' hardest matchup, even though it's mine. All I'm saying is that we should be skeptical of judging a man's opinions in a certain way when we don't know the context for this list and the explanations behind it. The list isn't right or wrong. It is just kinda empty and difficult to analyse. I just don't want people going "Valk Vs Azrael is Even" just because of this quick-fire unexplained list just because it happens to be made by Dogura. Prehaps League of Legends and people taking what pro players say at face value just because they said it has made me jaded. In which case, I'm probably not giving the FGC much credit, so my bad if that's the case.
-
I don't. If Valkenhayn is considered superior to Azrael (as Dogura said himself) BUT Valkenhayn is even with Azrael, then Azrael's tools must help negate the superiority of Valkenhayn in a 1on1 enviroment. Thus, explanation is needed to explain this discorrelation between overall character strength and the actual 1vs1 matchup. Pretty logical to be honest. I also don't see why you'd think I'd even think that. If I believed that the MU chart HAD to correlate with the Tier List, then why would I even be talking about this? I would just say Dogura is completely wrong as his own Tier List doesn't matchup with his MU chart.
-
Maybe. Maybe not. I just don't think the list really has any value if there's no explanation for why he apparently does even against better characters like Taokaka and Valkenhayn or not weaker characters like Tager and Ragna. Not saying it can't be true, but without an explanation or some context, this list just isn't really worth anything. That's all.
-
I'm not even sure why Dogura felt the need to make this list. Perhaps it is a logistical error and he's simply says what his personal matchups are. In which case, fair enough. But if this supposed to be some kind of objective statement on Azrael's matchups, then it is pretty irrelevant, regardless of how good the individual player is. Not to mention that this MU chart just seems downright, well, illogical. The idea that someone could objectively say that Tager and Ragna is as hard of a matchup as VALKENHAYN and MU-12 is quite hilarious in it's own right. I would like to give Dogura that benefit of the doubt and assume that this is just what he personally feels like his Azrael does. Rather than him speaking for the character as a whole, as to be honest, it's quite an embarrassing list if that's the case. Also the weird ones are largely in the 'Even' section. While the For and Against sections are generally fine. Perhaps he put anything he wasn't too sure of in the Even section, which would also be reasonable.

They're not especially deadly or anything. Getting hit by something like Raw Counterhit 3D is much more deadly. From 5C FC, you can link 3D if you have lower weakpoint into the standard combo. That'll do around 5k I believe? And 6C FC just goes into 5B>3C>etc (I usually find that they're crouching when a 6CFC happens because of 2A mash). Apart from just being able to link 5C>3D and 6C>5B being easier, I don't think there's anything particularly special about Azrael's Fatals.
-
I personally wouldn't dream of using Azrael vs Mu-12. I agree with Zeth tbh and say that you should pick up a more neutral heavy character. I sub Relius since he's essentially the anti-thesis of Azrael. Up to you ofc, but in a lot of zoning matchups you're going to rely heavily on the other person making mistakes, rather than you making plays.
-
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I do need to be a lot more creative and oppressive with my pressure. Usually what happens now is that people just DP inbetween 5B and 5BB and it's really hard to bait because of how it has long startup (which only connects because of high blockstun). Cool, I got it in my head, I'll work on that. Thanks, that's the kind of brain smack I needed.
-
It's not a buff or a nerf. All it means is that if you want to do a dash DP, you have to do it accurately, i.e. 6623. Instead of just doing 66236 and still getting a DP.
-
So yeah it's been a bit of a while. We had a tournament recently. I wasn't going to originally place the videos here since my hitconfirms and optimal combos were dodgy due to not playing the game for a bit, but to be honest, I think I am improving. The problem is that I'm still having trouble on what kind of direction to take with Azrael. I notice obvious mistakes like using Valiant/Hornet on Low HP or autopiloting 2C>6D/3D. I do a lot of those. But I'm still a bit unsure about subtle stuff like how I should be improving my neutral and pressure game. If people have some general advice for me to go on for a while, that would be great. Vs Litchi (Lol based thinking that 214D is Growler.) Vs Bang (Get kinda done in. This is what I mean by not understand the neutral. Maybe it's just Bang Inexperience, but I feel like Bang is just able to make those sudden movements and stop me from pressing buttons, especially in the air.) Vs Ragna Vs Ragna/Jin (Kinda lost my nerves when he picked Jin, oh well.)
-
I'm not sure what these videos could include, since having something like BlazBlue, Melty Blood and Arcana Heart 3 together would be like making a video series with Street Fighter 4, Mortal Kombat and KOF XIII together. Something like airdashing isn't even that relevant in something like AH3, so I'm interested to see what this will have.

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?17585-Astral-Heat-Overdrive-January-25th-London-UK Trust me there are PLENTY of bad players for you to fight. Plenty of people on Dustloop here know people who don't go on Dustloop.

[CPEX] Relius Clover Gameplay Discussion
LordSpectreX replied to HARD_BREAD's topic in Relius Clover
I'm picking up Relius again as a psuedo main. His increased execution barrier was kinda daunting at first especially after being away from FGs a bit, but I'm glad to pick him back up. I wanted to ask if there is any way to make the safe jump setup hit fast enough so you don't get beaten by DPs, but also slow enough so that they can't just refuse to tech and force blue beat? I'm doing 3C > jump > 5D > j.C. It works as a safe jump during techs but just blue beats if they lie still. Do you mean something like... ... > 236C > 214A > (66) 5C > 2C > 4D > Dash Under > 3C (input as 1C) > 236D > IAD J.B It's a neat little setup. Good to do after like weak starter (2x2A for example). There's a lot of stuff you do do after that dash under 3C. -
The nature of these guard points is very obscure indeed. Based on my findings, I thought that 11-(active~7)GP means that the guard point starts from frame 11 (and it does, since it only very slightly loses to Jin's 10F 5C done at the same time and then 7 frames after that. Jin's 6C is 19F, since the GP on 236D is thus 18F, Jin's 6C will win. What is strange is the active~7. Based on what I've found, holding the button simply lengths the duration of the second (7F) part of the guard point. It does not add to it. As Jin's 6F 5A will beat 236D(charge) if he does 5A at the same time you let go of the button. If it had 7 frames of GP after, it would beat it, even rarely. But nope. never. However, this isn't consistent. Especially when you bring Hornet into the mix. Jin's Overhead is 19 Frames. By my theory, 236D should lose, but 214D should win since it's 10(active~12). However, 236D beats it clean, while 214D loses. What is strange is that 214D will almost ALWAYS lose to 6A UNLESS you charge it. Then the GP will always win. It's not simply a high thing either. Jin's 2C which is 17F produces the same result. 236D wins, 214D loses. What a mysterious jogo. Oh, and it does lose to Unblockables like Yukikaze. But that's in the wiki so that's fine.

IRL talk here. Since memories are formed through repeated processes of data done in the brain, then cloning a brain's DNA (especially with the super advancing cloning in BlazBlue) would theoretically transfer many of core aspects of memory based in the brain. It would explain why they have familiar instincts like their affection towards Ragna and their ability to have human-societial functions without teaching (e.g. Language, the ability to walk etc.)
