Good luck to those going to Final Round! Regardless of how you do, I'm proud of ya for going! May you random dp and super to victory!~

Midnight has to play either Carl or Hakumen. Star has to play Tager. LOL
-
If Astaroth plays Platinum, I'll play Noel. (vomits a little)

Except that...it isn't the same situation because a game is a program which follows a formula...so 2+2 will always equal 4...or a move will cross you up when it should and it wont when it shouldn't. It's Star's human error that causes him to get hit by it. If it's us misunderstanding you, Star, it's because you aren't being clear enough. I directly responded to each point you made which are: a)cross-ups are inconsistent, your words: my opponent threw out his last move which crossed up but instead this time it decided "Meh, kind of don't feel like crossing my opponent up today." b)60% damage is a big deal, your words: ,The funny thing is is that I wouldn't even have a problem with getting hit by them if it wasn't for the fact that getting hit by this leads to you losing about 60% of your life My argument and the rest of what you said was "stating the obvious" was to show that 60%, regardless of how or why you get hit (yeah that includes moving ever so slightly), isn't really a big deal when you consider all the options and consequences (the "obvious" statements) involved with dishing out 60% damage. If the part of my argument where I explained why teammates could be more important than 60% damage is so obvious then why are you making a big deal about 60% damage? When you say things like: "You would think the game would still register the move you do the same regardless if your opponent moved even the slightest bit, at least in my head anyways." It reflects that you approach the game with preconceived notions of what it should play like and that clouds your ability to both appreciate and learn the game. If you are going to truly understand a game and really figure out if you like it or not, you cannot come in with preconceived notions. For me I learned this with Marvel. There is a lot of BS in marvel, imo, but it's competitive for a reason and I can appreciate at least that aspect by looking at marvel and asking myself why people play it. When you question the legitimacy and reasoning behind design decisions and try your best to think of the positive reasons behind those choices it's easier to appreciate said game.

Well Star the mechanics in KOF are pretty unique. I just learned this while playing yesterday but if you are right next to someone who is standing still and you hop you wont cross them up, but if they are moving forward, even ever so slightly, you will. So those moments you find inconsistent actually has a specific causality. KOF is all about very small minor kinks and quirks like this that require some investigation and isn't very orthodox to how say other fighting games does cross-ups or other basic mechanics you find in other fighting games. As for 60% damage, it really isn't that much if you look at an entire kof match as a marvel match. So instead of thinking of it as 60% off 100 health...it's more like 20% off 300 health (if you combine all 3 teammates' health) A KOF match consists of the entire team and each one's actions in terms of meter and drive usage and how many matches they survive drastically affects their teammates decisions. You really think it's OP to burn a significant amount of resources just to blow 1/5 of a team's health? Like Midnight said meter and drive aren't just tools to dish out damage. You use it to blowback or defense roll (or w/e it's called). You use ex moves with invincibility to get people off of you. and when you do 60% damage on someone and sacrifice your ability to use these other tools you are risking putting yourself at a disadvantage in the future when you don't have meter to save your ass. A good example of this is the character King. Now King has great zoning and doesn't really need meter to dish out damage, but once any rushdown character goes in on her the matchup becomes atleast 6:4 if she has no meter to blowback/defense roll/ex dp. So a smart player isn't going to be blowing all the meter in the world before king comes in without considering that maybe the survivability of that person's team is worth more than dishing out damage. Now 60% damage on a single character has it's purpose for being in the game. The reason why it's in the game is because if there is a character that just completely runs through your team you are given the option to blow a lot of resources focusing on this one character to get rid of him/her. This helps balance bad matchups. but there is a risk, you blew through resources that could have been spread out over the opponent's entire team but you instead chose to focus it all on one character because you thought that character was the central problem. I guarantee you after you dish out 60% damage you won't be doing it again for a bit because even 2 bars takes a bit to build. Meaning this is the opponent's opportunity to either: a)go on the offense since you lost several defensive options(blowback/defense roll/ex invinc. move) b)or, because he/she was getting hit by your 60% combo your opponent was getting meter for it and can now dish out his/her own 60% combo!

I agree with Chandler. @Milln: Yeah that "isnt what I meant". I used the word "feel" and not "is" for a specific reason.
-
I guess I wasn't clear enough. I wasn't saying that there are a lot of r/p/s moments it just feels that way, but that's probably my lack of experience. I have a pretty good understanding of the game's mechanics but I often find myself just guessing in many situations between two options and i witness kind of the same thing on tourney streams. I'm probably not playing the game right.
-
I'm not liking SCV. It just feels so rock paper scissors. Should I feel bad that I like Marvel more than SCV?
-
I'll wait for the upcoming balance patch: Star's 5-point KOF assessment Arcade Edition Extend, Now with more FUCK! Seriously, make sure you type it up in word or something before you post so I'm not reading something that only existed two minutes ago.
-
When you get hit in KOF (excluding dps, but they aren't that good anyways) it's because you got either a)frame trapped b)out spaced c)anti-aired and occasionally d)cross-uped How is that bs? A-C are just pure fundamentals and when it comes to fundamentals the smarter player who can make better reads wins. When you have high/low mixups that net huge damage, like BB, that's when the dude rolling his face on the controller has a fighting chance because that'ss when there are some situations where regardless of how well you can read someone it's just pure guessing. And that guess nets you 1/3 of someone's health? hmm...reminds of another game...oh yeah Marvel.
-
I have to lol that Star compared KOF to Marvel, when almost the entire FGC respects it as one of the most legit fighting games to come out in a while. You can handle the BS in Blazblue but not KOF?!! What are you smoking?!
-
lol so sad that you guys are quitting KOF. Can you guys not handle a game without simple high/low mixups? That you have to commit to your dps and random supers? smh.
-
lol too many fighting games. I'm just going to stick to BB, KOF, and SCV. Guilty Gear as well, but I hope it doesn't die like Third Strike Online did where people got hyped for it and picked it up, thought it was fun, then got ass raped by someone who's been playing it for 10 years and was like "eh fuck it" *goes back to SFIV*
-
You should capture one of your farts in a bottle and give it to him.
-
Man I wish I could go to FR. My Bang is looking fierce this time around. Oh well, Maybe next year.
-
Man Patsuka is pretty fun.
-
One of you guys needs to money match some of the top BB players that are going to be at Final Round for me. That's what I would have done if I could go ;(
-
Get Justin to make a dustloop account so you two can brawl it out right here. LOLZ.
-
I'll also be on XBL Lichling. Also lol. I hope Namco patches this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYuB3yUSWK4
-
I'll be at Milln's this saturday mainly to play KOF and to learn SCV from Milln.
-
My schedule only permits me to go to one event per month and I'd rather go to MTN tournies since Milln hosts BB.
-
Man you guys need to decide for me: which game should I play along side BB? Kof, SCV, SFIV, mvc3? idk i just want to play what the community is interested in but it seems like you guys pick up a game for like two weeks then drop it i.e. KOF. I need to know what you guys are definitely going to play besides BB, so I can learn those games since my free time is so restricted.
-
I saw a video with a better frame rate. the game looks smooth. I might want to pick it up.
-
lol I actually think it's easier to react to overheads on netplay. 2bar connection is very good for reacting to overheads lol. it's like it gives it an extra frame in real life to react.
-
But you all are still free to Bang's overhead.
