  1. Lol Star I feel like trolling you today: http://dreamcancel.com/2012/05/03/kof-i-2012-snkps-biggest-troll-attempt-yet/d833c895d143ad4bbd27f36482025aafa40f060c/ oh and of course for you Milln: http://dreamcancel.com/2012/05/03/kof-i-2012-snkps-biggest-troll-attempt-yet/e824b899a9014c08f0469d010a7b02087bf4f411/
  2. Lol live action comic book movies make me laugh. The only cool one is Iron Man mainly because it looks plausible but it would be an Oriental/Indian piloting it. An American engineering the most sophisticated computer technology...please... Men/women in tights throwing shit at each other. Idk just seems so silly and unrealistic but its trying to be serious with the whole live action thing it makes the whole thing feel ironic and thus comedic.
  3. Most of my arguments with you on this forum have been because you say something that is in my opinion outlandish and is highly opinionated, not a discussion of facts.
  4. There is probably no true ending to an argument. So long as it's all opinionated and two people have enough ego left in them they will continue to argue until one person agrees with the other. We may not concede, but that isn't really the point of an argument. It's rare for arguments to have a concession especially ones that are heavily based on opinion. While it's most likely the person's intention is to persuade the other person he or she is right, arguments in most cases end up as mainly a means to expose and inform one on different perspectives on a subject. This may influence a person to change his or her position but it does not have to be a concession. Generalizations are avoided because if you don't literally mean what you said it can still be easily interpreted as such and thus the other side may not get what you're trying to say. It's best to minimize ambiguity because it only weakens one's argument.
  5. yeah...I would like to argue against this... First off, a debate is a form of argument, so if you say we have a debate and debate=argument we have arguments. Second, what do you mean by one-sided? As in one side's argument completely outweighs the opposing side's argument? Or everyone picks one side and no one supports the other side? The latter doesn't make sense since it takes two to tango and it takes two to create a bitch fest and we have bitch fests aka arguments aka debates. Also, didn't your English teacher ever teach you not to make broad generalizations like saying "no one is willing to continue after they've laid down what they have to say"? Uh, I'm someone and I've argued on several occasions in this thread, especially against you.
  6. In an interview with one of the developers, he said they hired several high level tournament players to help make this game. They said they wanted the game to have the same level of depth as other fighting games. I wouldn't ridicule it just yet. They are taking the right steps and I respect their intentions to try to make it more than just a party game. I mean even I have to admit Melee is just as deep as any other fighting game. This could be as well.
  7. Tret one thing that helps me get better is to first pinpoint what exactly you are struggling with. So with Lambda, if you are struggling once someone gets close to you what exactly is that character doing that makes it so hard for Lambda to deal with. The more specific you are the more clearer of a solution you will have. Here is an example of narrowing down the problem: Lambda struggles against a character up close. Why is that? I can't jump out of the character's pressure I don't have a move fast enough to deal with the pressure up close. What attacks are your opponent doing that is causing this? (we will use Ragna as an example) The opponent uses 5B and 2A a lot to keep me locked down. The train of thought here is you go from the broad problem: Lambda struggles against x character up close to pinpointing specifically that Lambda struggles in dealing with: Ragna's 2A and 5B. Now that the problem is more specific your solution can be as well. Finding the solution means experimenting and trying different things mid match. When you are playing against someone it helps vastly in terms of improving if you don't focus on winning the match but on experimenting with your options in the different situations that occur mid-match. In general, Lambda struggles when being pressured up close. You don't really have many options but to block and to use barrier to push the opponent far enough for you to be able to jump or backdash out of there. Remember, if you instant barrier the push is much greater. Learning to instant block basic blockstrings that almost everyone does helps a lot in giving Lambda the opportunity to jump out and airdash away from the opponent's pressure. The key thing to know is that Lambda may not have tools to deal with an opponent up close but she has plenty of tools to prevent her from getting into that situation in the first place. Learn to utilize her backdash by just experimenting using it. It's really fast and has good invincibility frames on it. As Lambda you have to constantly move around so the opponent cannot set you up to being cornered by him/her. The more you move around the harder it is for the opponent to catch you and the more likely they are going to make a mistake. If you can predict when the opponent is going to approach you by jumping and airdashing and when he/she is going to just dash on the ground keeping them away becomes a lot more simple since Lambda has answers for both of these options. A good Lambda player focuses more on the opponent's movement than his/her attacks. If you can predict how your opponent moves you can lock them down and put the pressure on them.
  8. God damn that was a nice BB tournament. Sucks for those who didn't go.
  9. What's great about the paralyze is that you can't jump so you can't chicken block. Akihiko really needed help in opening people up.
  10. Lol so now Akihiko can paralyze you even if you block. With 150 SP he is almost guaranteed to get the instant kill so long as he touches you first.
  11. Lol you guys. Your passive aggression amuses me.
  12. I hope you guys interact with the rest of TN on saturday. Even if you don't play their games, introduce yourself because you all are part of the FGC in TN. This is the best opportunity to since Memphis will be there as well. Maybe try other fighting games. Who knows maybe that setting will cause you to have different opinions on fighting games you disliked. I know the environment at Powerup made me look at skullgirls from a more optimistic perspective that i wouldn't have had if i was just playing by myself in my bedroom on XBL. And being at Matt's house and watching the guys play project m and asking questions about the game made me more interested than if i just saw an article about it on IGN. Just sayin dude. Yah Milln you are ambassador. And I am King. ~_O lol.
  13. Milln you should make the Mexican applicants face you in a FT5 in the KOF game of their choosing.
  14. Lol the chorus mixes so well with G Gundam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1UuEHmxG0U&feature=related
  15. I would come over but I don't have a mode of transportation.
  16. Lumin you are doing more work than you need to. If you want to get better fundamentals play KOFXIII very basic. Focus on practicing footsies, and anti-airing. You will be doing the same thing in older KOF's anyways and you'll get better at KOFXIII faster this way because you are practicing your fundamentals in a KOFXIII context. Does GGPO have KOFXI? That was my favorite. I call the game Marvel 2 and 1/2.
  17. Too many fighting games, not enough time. I just hope that those of you who did say you will be picking up GG will stick with it.
  18. What I'm getting at is this: I want us to pick up Guilty Gear, but for us to be competent at it we really have to devote some time to it. Time that is already limited due to school, work, etc. So, something needs to be sacrificed (BB). Are you guys willing to invest in getting a PS2, a copy of guilty gear, and a converter (if needed)? And are you passionate enough to want to get good at it? Meaning sitting down in training mode and learning combos, oki setups, setting up get togethers to grind, etc. Right now, is a good point to get started in practicing GG. Seeing as both P4:U and UNIB, games the majority of you are interested in, isn't out yet. And if we start playing and growing guilty gear, maybe we can revive and get veteran players from Memphis and the rest of the south to start coming to tournaments making the scene even bigger and more competitive.
  19. Here is my next question, Which of you are willing to start playing Guilty Gear seriously right now? and can you play the PS2 version of GG on a PS3?
  20. In battle network, I loved the "glitches" you could do with the navicust. You could put attack speed and guard on the scan line and your buster became a mettaur shield. Lol there were some pretty wonky ones in the series. I remember one was in 4 where your buster shot out a flower like a clown gun. Another one where your buster shot out like rapid fired fully charged buster shots but jammed a lot. After Powerup reflection: So you guys after Powerup I felt kinda eh about playing BB with the number of turnouts, it being a side tourney. When the reason I play fighting games is to play other people and there aren't that many people playing my effort doesn't feel worth it. I only play it because there are some of you who do. I was wondering though are you guys losing interest in BB, for whatever reason?
  21. Hey this is Naimat, just wanted to say thanks to the Ohio community for the hospitality. Wanted to especially thank Kyle for letting us stay at his place and for the hotel. Shoutouts to the dudes keeping BB alive in OH. Tad graciously gave me a GG setup, so I'll definitely be practicing that game. Hope to play you guys next time we meet. And I hope you all will be able to come down to TN for MWC this summer!
  22. that's a good order. Switch Mai with Ex Kyo for matchups you are struggling with as Mai. If the opponent is getting in easily on mai, ex kyo has moves to get people off of him. His rekkas have guard point, his shoryu has guard point, and so does his ex choke move. Use those moves on aggressive characters to get them to respect you. I like Terry in the back he does big damage with meter and the combos are very simple. Plus his j.D crosses up really easily. If you don't like doing HD combos then Terry is a good anchor however he lacks in the HD combo department so dont expect touch of deathing people.
  23. Star i dont have a car to pick you up. Don't worry about me. I'll just walk to the arcade. I need a ride. lol.
  24. Mai is a bad anchor on paper. But if your ex kyo is terrible I would put Mai as anchor just because you are extremely comfortable with her. But I think Mai works best second similar to why Athena does as well. Mai's main tools and what makes her useful in a team is her deceptive projectile's speed for zoning and hitting people mid-jump and her neomax. I believe you can punish on reaction most jumps with it. So if people know about this they'll stay grounded more and you can establish pressure/zone easier. She needs meter so it's best to have her second ready with it as soon as she comes in to optimize Mai's usefulness in your team. Mai is terrible as an anchor because she just lacks any tools to open people up. Not much of a high low game or a command grab. You need someone like that if you are going to plow through 2+ characters. Because going through 2 characters with Mai is a grind. You are going to have to zone and when you go in for damage you are risking getting hit and when you do land a hit the damage isn't enough to warrant the risk vs 2 characters. Elizabeth is another good second character seeing as her main role in a team is getting damage and juggles off of almost any hit. Hitting you with an air to air and then juggling you off of them with her specials and super. She is good at converting stray hits at odd positions and angles into significant damage all without using drive, which is good for your anchor, But she needs meter for her damage to have an impact on the match and is why i think she does best second.
  25. I appreciate that you respect my opinion but Milln does know the game better than i do overall. I just know a lot about the characters i play but that's it. In general, everyone should seek advice from everyone else. I guarantee you some of the scrubbiest players have some unique strategies that even top players could learn. They might be shitty players but they can also be intelligent people so yah never know.
