  1. btw star i have a ps2 controller so all you need is a converter
  2. Everyone is welcome to come. Just bring set-ups lol. Anyone with KOF umvc or bb bring it!!
  3. I'm working on thanksgiving till 5 so 5:30 is good. And uhm i go to work the next day at 12:30p.m. so anytime before that you'll need to leave. If your mom has issues picking you up real late, since you live close to me i can take you home if it gets real late. It would be a good time to start learning KOF maybe introduce you to marvel etc. If anyone else wants to come let me know...but if you do come try to bring a set-up.
  4. You will get pushed back if your point character's attack makes contact with them after the last hit of black hole. This goes for any assist to. You can test it in training mode.
  5. Chandler the game is just a different beast. You gotta keep playing it to understand it. I felt the exact same way when i first started but if you endure a month of the bs you learn to accept it and it doesn't become as ridiculous as it seems. You can react to stuff you just have to be FAST. Some of the best marvel players are great at other fighting games because they just have great reaction. (Justin Wong came from marvel 2 to street fighter). I was frustrated at first with assist spamming but again you can't approach this like other fighting games. You chuck that projectile super when you see that assist and let'em eat that damage. You gotta learn to not treat it or compare it to other fighting games. It is a fighting game...but it breaks a lot of the "understood" aspects of other fighting games i.e. blockstrings, supers not being safe, canceling whiffed normals into specials or hypers, etc. This doesn't mean it isn't a good fighting game. I think there is thinking involved...just a different kind than in most conventional fighters. For example, blockstrings. MvC does have blockstrings. but it isn't just doing A,B,C because you'll just get advance guarded after the b and you are pushed away. It's more like (and this is a super simple example) A, B + assist, move in to continue pressuring with your normals. When the opponent uses advancing guard against your assist you arent pushed back and this allows you to continue pressuring while the opponent is blocking your assist. you have to treat it separately as its own beast. Trust me it's a fun game once you get over da saltiness.
  6. Lol chandler everyone has the "chandler" factor in marvel. So yeah you are basically fighting yourself. Atleast to me the way the game is played reminds me of your playstyle. (not saying it's scrubby!...just kinda random but safe). also if anyone wants to get games in BB im online atm.
  7. It's not really a glitch Doro. It's that the buffer system is even more lenient than in vanilla. the last input of the first quarter circle is forward and because you did the second quarter circle so fast it uses that last forward input as the first input for the second super and thus you get forward, quarter circle which is srk motion. I noticed with Nova I couldn't immediately cancel a quarter circle special into his gravimetric blaster or otherwise i would get the srk motion super. For some reason they have increased the buffer time slightly in this game.
  8. @Chandler: Vergil doesn't need an overhead. He opens people up easy with 50/50 crossups. he has 3 tools to cross up and you have to guess and can't block on reaction quick slash, his teleport with sword super, assist and teleport. Seriously he doesn't need an overhead with those three things. And frankly having a crossup mixup is better than a high low mixup cause it works on airborne opponents too. And A good portion of the cast cannot end a bnb with a level 3 for the kill unless they use assists to extend their combos. Vergil has relatively lower than average hit stun deterioration on his combos cause of round trip (where he throws the sword) so what makes him unique is that he can touch of death almost anyone with 3 meters without an assist. This also makes him a way better anchor than dante. Everyone can run away from dante easily when he doesn't have an assist cause he can't cross you up and his high low game doesn't exist. Let alone he can't combo off his grabs without an assist. Vergil can do all of those things (minus high low) by himself. And I'm not saying that high execution characters like viper have a relatively low payoff. Look at marlin pie, he is popping infinites with viper. It's just they aren't explored enough because they are difficult to play, but the payoff is great. Also...I was talking about dormmamu not doom... @Astaroth: yes they are both heavy hitters Quit frankly iron fist can get in on zoners. With his half screen dash and oh yeah his standing h moves him forward as well with a great hitbox and speed. not to mention he has a bionic arm super. His dash again...is like 10 frames to get across the screen. His wavedash is the fastest in the game. If the opponent is on the ground iron fist can open up using his high/low rekka. Even faking out a low and canceling it into a high before the low even hits. and if they are in the air he can combo them from an air grab without an assist (i think...might depend how high off the ground) I was watching the option select stream and Ryan hunter was playing a complete zoning team of hawkeye dorm and strange. Flashmetroid kept getting in with iron fist by just staying grounded and knowing when to wavedash and use standing H or M. Ryan was saying that Iron fist will give zoning characters trouble.
  9. Iron fist plays nothing like hulk. His only move with super armor is the chi powerup and it's gimmicky and really hard to time since it doesn't have that many active frames. So it's no hulk standing H. Yeah he hits hard but that's about all they have in common. He moves differently, his mix-ups are different, idk where the connection is besides damage. Dante still builds meter like crazy while hitting hard so you put vergil second and put dante on point till he dies. Dante gets two combos it's like 2+ meters not including him getting hit also builds meter and vergil can take out almost any character with 3. so realistically he is way better than dante if he has meter which isn't hard for him to get. He can also open people up by himself since he can do 50/50 crossups with no assists which dante can't do very well unless he has an assist. Plus vergil can combo off any of his throws...dante needs an assist. Like C.Viper i think rocket raccoon is going to be one of those chars that has a high execution barrier but in the right hands can be ridiculously good. If this game is given more than at least a year to live I think rocket raccoon will move up on the tier list. I saw mastercj play Dorm in ultimate and all he kept doing was like airdash down and the move where dorm swipes below him. It looked hard to punish and get away from but I'm not worried about Dorm. His offense is predictable, normals are slow, and he can't really zone by himself without an assist or meter still. The only thing that troubled me and they nerfed this about him was his hitbox on his anti air and flame carpet being active even when he is hit. Those two things were retarded. I still lose to super armored chars. this list now includes nemesis. le sigh~
  10. My god hawkeye is so much fun. I've never liked playing lame characters but his movement and tools are really fun. Strider isn't as fun as i thought, kinda brain dead. Iron fist is fun, vergil is REALLY brain dead, nova is a completely unique character so different actually playing him than seeing the trailers. Wesker is derp, Magneto is still fun especially with repulsion/attraction. Team "9 more months" a.k.a. wesker magneto akuma is still beast. Been working on an amazing team of Magnus/Strange/Doom. Hidden missiles works so well with strange and magnus repulsion and attraction is really gimmicky with it to. Yo chandler if you want to do long ass combos with half the work choose vergil over dante. lol.
  11. Star you do know yomi is what makes fighting games "deep"? Also small combos mean you have to play consistently throughout the whole round because it isn't your damage that is giving you the round but your ability to open up your opponent and not herp a derp and get three combos to win. I really don't get what you mean by "yomi meh".
  12. To me VS is like street fighter with more mobility options. So it's like small combos, strong yomi game, and every character has very unique mobility options.
  13. you forgot the "imo" in my post...imo stands for "in my opinion"...
  14. vampire savior is a better fighting game than bb. like seriously. If you can't take VS seriously you really can't take BB seriously. Atleast, imo. If anyone has a copy I'll practice and play with them, so Milln if you happen to be getting into it ill play with you.
  15. Just making sure Tad are you still coming to my house this thanksgiving?
  16. What day of the week does it come out? I'll come if I don't have work and there isn't a test the next day.
  17. I love how most of the combos are just 4 or 5 hits. The game really emphasizes on yomi and I love how dps cant be canceled to make them safe, again emphasis on yomi. No bs comeback factor and it's not too fast paced and not too slow. I love it. I know it's going to be my favorite fighting game before I even play it.
  18. LOL!! Even more megaman troll food: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Ueyw7bmUE
  19. To be fair, Frank did have a megaman alternate costume in dead rising so that one makes sense. But LOL at zero having not one but two megaman x costumes. Capcom really likes punching megaman fanboys in the balls.
  20. I want to know how many of you are SERIOUSLY considering playing KOFXIII. ANd i mean actually practicing etc. Astaroth do you know if any of the tn community on srk are getting into it? I would check but i hate how they keep making new threads and i'm too lazy to keep looking for it. and i can't login to post on srk for some reason.
  21. man im really having a hard time convincing myself that iron fist can be a good point character. WHY WOULD CAPCOM MAKE A GROUND BASED CHARACTER IN A GAME WHERE YOU ARE 99.9% OF THE TIME IN THE AIR?!!!! I hope he isn't assist tier. I HOPE!!
  22. This thanksgiving tad and i are going to chill at my place star. You can come then. Until then Im busy. Learning marvel is actually unlearning a lot of what you learn in other fighting games. You can spam supers cause they are safe, you can special cancel whiffed normals (making a lot safe), advancing guard takes out a lot of the work in terms of blocking, throws are 1 frame and can punish even the fastest normals which i believe is 3 frames (amaterasu) this especially is retarded since it beats the whole rock paper scissors aspect of fighting games where block beats attack, attack beats throw, and throw beats block. Really the hardest part about learning marvel is accepting that it won't follow conventional fighting game mechanics and that it's ok that it doesn't...CAUSE IT'S MAHVEL BABAAYYY!! but really, appreciate the game for the fast paced ridiculous insanity that it is and don't take losses like it's a testament of your skill, cause really it's just about guessing right on 50/50's and dealing with the fact that yomi is really simple and braindead in this game. For example Hulk: a)he does standing h (which has super armor) b)you block it and it's minus on block so you can punish it if you dont advancing guard. c)but if you try to punish it he can do gamma charge which will stuff your move which can be canceled into gamma crush and it takes out half your health or he can dhc and take out 3/4ths of your health with 2meters. d)you block the gamma charge which is minus on block so you can punish it if you don't advancing guard. e)but if you do try to punish it he can cancel gamma charge into gamma crush which has invincibility and if the character you dhc to doesn't have a counter super you will get hit no matter what unless you want to waste your xfactor. Oh yeah and gamma crush takes out a third and for some characters about half of their health. f) but say you block the standing h, you read the gamma charge and you block that too, and you read the gamma crush as well. So you did 3 good reads and you think i can FINALLY punish this character he dhc's into a safe projectile super and if you pressed a button you get hit and hulk is safe. That's not even including the fact that with an assist he can cover his "unsafe" moves with assists and because you are too afraid to attack he also has a command grab for both ground and air. He easily does 1mil damage with basically standing h,launch,b,b,c,s,(otg assist),launch, b,b,c,s,gamma wave, gamma crush, and because he builds meter easily dhc into second hyper you are dead or almost dead. from one combo. So yeah characters have dumb shit like this but hulk's has one of the dumbest (imo) just laugh it off and don't take it seriously like other actual fighting games.
  23. Tager Against Bang I think is an even matchup. The risk reward is in Tager's favor since every time bang goes for a mixup tager can guess atomic collider or 360 and if it's midscreen he is rewarded a lot more than he is risking since bang's midscreen damage is so bad. And any damage tager takes from bang especially from a heavily prorated combo that starts with 2a benefits tager more than bang since it just gave tager heat to do his magnatech wheel mixup. Bang mainly has an advantage in terms of mobility and corner pressure but a lack of a dp allows tager to mix up and pressure him a lot more easily than other characters. Dnails which is Bang's main way of creating a mixup opportunity and its sole purpose is completely null since it is a telegraph that tells tagers im going to mixup a high/low so throw out a 360 or atomic collider since no matter what I do after dnails are blocked you recover faster from the little to no blockstun nails have and any move i throw out is risking a 360/atomic collider mixup. It really annoys me since I always start off really strong against any tager i play and I keep up the momentum but because I hit tager so many times I gave him 100 heat to do 3 guesses which ends up in me dying. Tager In my opinion was never low tier and was never really part of the tier list since he more than any other character revolves around a few guesses that dramatically change the game. You can't really measure consistency with that kind of playstyle so he can't be consistently low tier or anywhere on the tier list. Sure he has bad matchups against keepaway characters but that doesn't put him in low tier since he does pretty well against the rest of the cast.
  24. Where is the room in the arcade exactly? and when we had tournies there, there were only two set-ups like the retro arcade and we were crammed into an even smaller space than the retro arcade.
  25. Honestly I want there to be time for both tournaments and friendlies. I mainly come to these tournies for offline friendlies and it's annoying that we usually only get like an hour to do any and even then we are limited to like one or two set-ups. I would say even with 5 set-ups three tournies at max and it's three games the majority of us actually play. You don't even need to run marvel milln since jason does that anyways.
