They were effectively EX characters. I didn't spend too much time with W. Mikoto, but L used the stronger versions of M's special attacks by default. Overall they had more limited options than their normal counterparts (which is why I didn't spend a lot of time with them), but had stronger moves, and more importantly, utilized Overdrive much better. The effects of Quick Overdrive would last longer and you'd move much quicker than normal Quick. I imagine the Extra iterations will be largely similar to the BG versions since all the other characters are, so L would get the more explosive version of Meteor Blast, the harder hitting Junk Rolling, etc.

White Mikoto and L weren't in the original game, but they are in BattleGrounds.
