  1. I'm "arguing" about this because someone popped into the other thread and said "You seem to forget Hazama's command grab." as if to say "Well just having a command grab automagically makes you better." I am arguing that that is not, in fact, a valid assumption - even if that grab can be comboed off, Ala Hazama. Bang's command grab is pretty nice, though mostly when he has 50 heat to really make it hurt. My whole point is, don't just start going "F*** YEAH! Command grab!" until we have more details. There's plenty of room for it to completely suck.
  2. Pulling this over here because it doesn't really seem relevant to Loktest discussion: I understand the point of the 'threat' of the command grab, but in high level play, I almost never see Hazama's command grab landed or even attempted. This, to me, means there's no good reason for an opponent to be afraid of it. My presumption is that since it's a 12 frame startup that's not strike invulnerable, AND if you land it remotely near to someone being in blockstun you get a purple grab, plus the very short range means that it's not worth it to high level players to represent this move except as a "haha, gotcha, I bet you weren't expecting THAT crappy move" sort of maneuver. Hazama has so many ways to spend his 50 heat > Jayoku that this one doesn't seem to be relevant. This is of course all subjective and based on watching way too many videos.
  3. I'm really hoping they DON'T stick with the whole "overdrive makes you do more damage" idea (which is currently listed with a ? everywhere I've seen it anyway) because, frankly, I think it's much more interesting as a character specific mechanic than as a "push all four buttons to increase the damage of your next combo by 20%" mechanism.
  4. Yeah; Definitely looks like Tsubaki Install is still a 'standard' DD for Tsubaki - it's pretty clear for the characters who had a 'mode' moved to Overdrive have their Overdrive clearly labelled as such - Furinkazan, AB2, etc. Note that Original Flavor Mugen (aka "real Mugen" aka "Hakumen's Mugen") is NOT his Overdrive either.
  5. Dunno, CSE Tsubaki got screwed pretty much all the ways the first Loktest said. :P
  6. And on the flip side, anything that can lock a character down to let you get in on them can also lock a character down to keep them AWAY; Useful on rushdown characters when you need a chance to charge. Edit: Oh, and I don't forget Hazama's command grab, I just think it's pretty garbage now that it's only throw invulnerable. It does have theoretical applications, but in practice, I think you could remove it entirely and most Hazama matches would be completely unchanged. I guess it'd be hilarious to countergrab a GTB/GETB with it though. :P Actually, when you come right down to it, command grabs are a super mixed bag in this game - most people seem to think Platinum's pretty much sucks too. Valk's is kinda mean though.
  7. "Realistically" a command grab has a LOT of variables that can make it run from "Crazy" to "useless" and without any knowledge of those, it's kinda silly to speculate. Also, command grabs can be kinda easier to upback out of than unblockables. Isuna said it could be comboed out of in his latest post in news, but no info about where/for how much/what is required. The base damage kinda sounds like ass (960) so if you can't combo out of it, it'd pretty much be pointless. Edit: It's weird that they would make our meterless DP the scary one. I wonder what 623D does then.
  8. This sounds like a "same move proration" warning - a way to detect when repeating a move in a combo is screwing over that combo, without you haven't to pore over the frame data to figure it out. Thumbs up.
  9. I do. More options = better. Besides, the two options are relevant at very different times. One wonders what the point of 22D will be if it can't be unblockable though; I'm going to be really sad if it's just "yeah, this has better proration". Anyway, if the bar has no segments, it probably just means they've gone to a "marvel style meter" for it - i.e. you charge the bar up the whole way and then the number next to it goes up and the bar becomes empty. Strictly cosmetic.
  10. If you don't mind a small critique, you seem to dive an awful lot (j.214X). Otherwise, looking pretty good. I liked the 22D > 236D > 3C > RC combo on Litchi, even if you did drop the ender. I need to think seriously about that one.
  11. Because it pisses people off. It's not a question of whether they can AFFORD it - it's a question of sucking the hype out. Anyway, I'm seriously excited for this. Not passing judgement on any new characters right now, but they're doing a good job of hyping me up for the rest of the cast. Really would like Lambda/Nu and Mu to come back though - I think they're interesting characters and it would be a super shame to lose that from the gameplay. (Though uh, Mu could stand some balancing on the damages. :P)
  12. This, for the love of bob! Also, I didn't get the sense that Izayoi NEEDED to suck the light out of people to work, just that it did so as a consequence of working. i.e. Nuclear radiation causes cancer, but it doesn't need to cause cancer in order to generate electricity. :P
  13. Not sure what you mean by a "frame type turtle char" but for hardcore rushdown and high tier, Chie is your girl in P4.
  14. So are people actually planning to show up tonight? At last check Sinder said that he currently 'didn't think he could make it' and Mad is 'low probability'. We just want to throw down next week?
  15. I still probably -can- but it's not ideal; Next week looks better - especially if this week isn't convenient for anyone else either. My wife is feeling pretty sick after yesterday, and I'd feel better keeping an eye on her. That said, I've been letting people down on this a lot lately, so if folks are going to be there, I'll put in an appearance, even if it means being late. On the other hand, I won't be real sad if no one is going this week and we all decide to meet up next week instead.
  16. I'll always cheerfully play BB with you. :P
  17. Plausible, but it all comes down to medical treatment.
  18. Getting married is also a legit excuse.
  19. Seems entirely likely. Well, Relius isn't a big deal anyway, because I can't imagine what he could do that I could punish with a raw 6C (unless I'm super awesome and IB a gear super or something) but Tager and Arakune both have a couple of things that I might be able to punish with this, so I'll just have to try to remember not to mash C. x.x >doomed<
  20. Eh. I dunno. Until I get my hands on P4U and get a chance to play it for a while, I can't really say whether I'll be interested in it or not. I have my preorder in, so I should have it sometime next week, but any decisions on 'serious' play will take longer.
  21. Right; That's sortof what I was trying to say, it just wasn't clear because I probably used the wrong notation for "Do 6C, but don't do the followup". And yeah, I think I actually tried on Arakune and had this problem on him too, so he's probably another fringe case. I've been training with random different characters lately. I get tired of Hazama/Ragna.
  22. Hi. Brain Box is pretty accessable via the T if you live close enough to town to be able to reach it that way. At least some of us are hopefully going to be there this Friday. Come on down. :P On that note: I'll be there on Friday around 7:00 -unless- my wife's Chemo has her feeling like utter crap and she wants me at home. Sorry, but Cancer > Games. I have no idea how to find you people, so I'll be wearing the Tao Shirt and looking lost and forlorn. Or at least, looking for people playing BB.
  23. Hah, Relius was the character I was trying on right before I posted and I was thinking "What am I doing wrong here?" So I can just skip 6CC on those two? That'll help. Thanks!
  24. I'm trying to work on the 6CC > 214214D > 623D > j.236D > j.214D > Stuff punish combo, because it does a gruesome amount of frontloaded damage even if I screw up later on in the combo, and being able to get a huge payoff when I successfully bait a DP or something is really nice, but I'm running into a weird problem where sometimes after the 623D, the orb from j.236D just hits them before j.214D comes out, and this messes up the combo something fierce. Is this me doing something too late? Too early? Does this combo just flake out on certain characters? (Never managed to get it on Tager.) Advice?
