You rang? Anyway, Gold bursts apparently don't technically have "Bonus proration" - which is actually GOOD in this case, because bonus proration from the same move doesn't stack. (i.e. if you did something like 3CC>RC>3CC, you'll only actually get the bonus proration from 3CC once) But Gold bursts DO have a P2 of 110, which means that they do raise the damage of subsequent hits in the combo by....10%. It's not super awesome, but using two of them adds up, and it allows your combo to go on longer as well, since you get less hitstun/untechable time decay. So you're probably looking at about 20% extra damage per burst, maximum. (assuming you can make your combo go on 10% longer as well.) So double goldburst could maybe get you nearly 40% more damage, but in practice, 30% is probably closer to the mark, and even that assumes that you can draw out the combo. That said, that double gold burst combo was totally worth it.

Here you go.

GGs to Nemesis for blowing me the heck up with Jin. Does not compute! Why is Jin so dangerous?! @_@

I don't think it will work - the thing is that it's not just the P1 that's bad. 70 isn't completely terrible by itself - it's the P1 * P2 that kills the 214X series as a starter. 214C has the same P1 as 214D, but it's low P2 is probably going to keep this from working. Unfortunately, these are tools that have more or less been crippled in EX, since not only is the reward fairly poor (as far as I know, the best you can manage from them is going to be a simple 214X > 5C > 2CC > 236C > 214C > 22B or the like) but the risk is fairly high now, since if they block it, you're at a very unpleasant -7. Really not worth fishing for these under most circumstances, which is really a shame, because it reduces these moves to garbage combo filler again.

No time, huh? :P Not going to be able to make it after all anyway. Family is in town. -
I'm not sure what combo that is, and I can't find anything like it in the Tsubaki combo thread, but even as written, that requires 3 stocks, which means that it's hardly an "anytime you hit with 214D" combo. In fact, unless it will kill you, I can't imagine a Tsubaki player wanting to use 3 stocks to do 4k when they could use 1 for 3k and have two more for neutral or future combos. So Tsubaki getting 4k off a 214D hit isn't really a likely event, and I wouldn't really worry too much. 3k still hurts though.

What time are people(Sinder? :P) going to be there? -
It's in the section HERE labelled "Hitstun Decay"; it's basically a chart that shows you how many frames of untechable time/hitstun you lose depending on how prorated your combo is. I dunno how useful it is from any real practical standpoint unless you're trying to do lame math like I did here, but go to town if it's useful to you!
-
According to the Hitstun Decay section of the wiki: As a combo goes on and proration increases, the amount of hitstun the opponent receives drops. Hitstun duration is affected solely by four types of proration: Start Proration (P1), Proration Multiplier (P2), Same Move Proration, and Bonus Proration. When the combined calculated proration value of these goes below 27% (on the ground) or 37% (in the air), the hit-stun duration begin to drop. This means that when you add attacks that have lenient proration into your combo, it'll be easier to lengthen the combo with more attacks. No mention in there of character combo rate, so I don't think it factors in for hitstun decay purposes. If it DOES factor in, then you lose the ability to sneak in the dash 5A, but you should still be in the 1-2 frame gap area, at ever so slightly more than 27% damage.
-
It should be 1-2 frames tight if my math is right: 5B P1: .85 5B P2: .89 5BB P2: .89 5C P2: .89 5CC P2: 92 236D P2: .89 5B P2: .89 5BB P2: .89 All multiplied together gives ~.388 - and grounded hitstun doesn't start to fall apart until below 27%, and 5BB is level 3, so 17 frames hitstun to 3C's 18 frames startup. You should even be able to sneak in a dash 5A after the 236D to make sure you hit 3C on the first frame. Unrelated: does 5BB>3C combo on crouchers? It looks like it should if you're close enough? Yes, I just did proration math. Bring it on.

Sorry; You kinda can't expect me to show up when you post the DAY you want me to appear. :P I'll mark my calendar for Friday - that should be doable. -
GGs to various people I crossed paths with tonight - I know I recongized some Gamertags and I don't remember ANY now. I was playing like garbage. Turns out, I was apparently ravenously hungry and too irritable to notice. Go me. Lesson learned: Eat a lot before playing BB. :P
-
My terrible reset that I do more than I should is 5BB > 5CC > 236D> 5BB > 3C© The number of people I catch standblocking me there is sortof astounding, actually. -_-

Nice! Please to post the stream info once it exists.

Probably this one.; It might've been a Gauntlet Hadesthough, so maybe not a normal after all. Sorry for that confusion. :P Yeah, that 2.5k off a midscreen 5B was really impressive there. ;P I'm saying that people actually had to practice Makoto to do her high damage combos, whereas, yeah, Ragna seems to have people sleepwalking through his stuff. Because people never drop combos or pick easier combos in high level play, ever? Also, let's face it - I believe in a game where the work you put in is roughly equivalent to the results you get out. Ragna? Not so much. [qui Sure thing! I amend my earlier "4k+" statement to "3.5k+" Because, you know, you never happen to lose to 5B while trying to do a crouch normal because 5B is faster than half the 2B's in the game....

If we were, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Wait, what? So the character that like 85% of everyone plays online because his rewards for the effort are just that good doesn't need any nerfs? Roll him back to his CS2 self and he'd still be very strong in this game. He needs to either do less damage, or have actual execution requirements. None of this doop-de-doo, oh look, I landed some random ground normal on someone right above my head where there shouldn't even be a hitbox and got 4k from it. CS2 Makoto wasn't this ridiculous. Not only did she have actual timing involved in her combos, but there were hits that didn't lead in 4k+. :P Feel free to brainstorm ways to make Ragna more interesting, but don't pretend he doesn't need to be toned down to the level of the rest of the cast in some capacity. The only other character on a level with his consistantly silly damage is Valk, and Valk requires actual like, practice. :P
-
Are we playing CS2 here? Raw 214D=3K at best. (Maybe it just looks like 4k on Carl. :P) This move is... not nearly as good in Extend now that it's -7 on block and 80 P1 instead of -3 and 100. =/

Xie, check your PMs please if you read this.

this. If you can operate a screwdriver, you can install a kitty board. Seriously. Here's the post where Toodles talks about installing it and answers questions. There's a link to the install guide, which has nice pictures. I did this in an afternoon with a friend (a friend is helpful, because a couple of tasks benefit from having three hands) and it was super easy. Also, the guy who designed it is really nice and answers questions on the SRK forums. Hard to argue with, really.

I still feel like it's a bit of a bum deal if you invested in CS2 DLC. =/ That said, you can get a used copy for the 360 for like $30 on Amazon, and that's not a bad deal. I'm local to Boston, so we can probably get some games in.

Hori Real Arcade Pro V3 SA Vs. Hori Soul Calibur V Arcade stick
Airk replied to Crashed's topic in Beginner Mode
It's even less important than you might think, unless you leave your stick plugged in all the time, which, since it is corded, you probably won't. Or you'll store it somewhere near the console. In either case, you'll either need to get up and plug it in, or get up and pick it up, both of which will take you into arm's reach of the power button. -
ohhh. Duh. Right. Okay. That makes sense. Thank you.
