Done uploading this weekend's tournament : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLugqpkL6ulCLD6cfLdxfmWm1Xz7kqo_Ep Funny, got a copyright claim for leaving the opening on. At least there's an option to remove the claimed audio section. -

If he's just using a lot of drives against you at neutral, play safer and don't try to challenge him as much. They have long startup and recovery, so if you don't do anything they'll just hang themselves. If they're relying on 5d or 2d, they won't guard point low moves, so you can beat them with 2b or 3c. The nails are usually another issue in this matchup, as they make it really hard to anti-air Bang. You usually want to play around them, try to get him to waste them. In general I try to challenge bang air-to air when I have the correct spacing for a j.c, besides that, SLOWLY place steins, one at a time, be ready to cancel into anything. j.2c and 2b are also decent pokes in the matchup, but mostly try to run away and not get in on him. Jump a lot. With this in mind, watch how Keba deals with the matchup : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaCvV5Cw8Qg&feature=youtu.be&t=8m59s notice how he doesn't use 5c at neutral.

@Lythium : hope you guys can make it! @DW : Talked to my roommates, it's cool. No real issue with the days themselves, as long as it stays under two weeks I'd say, lol. We've had quite a few couch surfers last summer so we're all used to it. @brettchronic : Do you have a preference? The schedule still isn't set, so anywhere between 2pm and 11pm works. It would probably take under an hour. I think we had one guy in Montreal who might be interested, so I'll ask him too. Anyone else that would enter would most likely be there for the rest of the event anyways.

Well, there's quite a few maybes. First come first serve I guess? -
When you airdash back cancel the stein, after Ikutachi, make sure you're as high in the air as possible. Also, keep in mind you can dash while holding 3, so you just input 663~c on landing.
-
You can add Sword of Decimation at the end, but there's no point. At that point it'll do 60 damage, and they'll tech out pretty fast. The j.2c knockdown is good enough. You can however use that to your advantage and do like j.2c 2b SoD, and if they tech the 2b, they'll get reset with the SoD if they aren't using barrier.
-
Yeah, generally delaying j.b j.c j.2c will help make it work. I feel like in some situations though, you're better off not delaying too much, as it causes the laser to miss. If you do it from like starting positions, dash 6b 6c etc. on Jin, iirc you don't need to delay j.b j.c j.2c, so it should at least help you figure out if that's what you're screwing up. Maybe this video I made, or the description's content will be able to help you : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzNXhtS6MnQ Note that although I try it in casuals very often, I think I only successfully finish it less than half the time. It becomes really awkward when you go for it on stuff like roll catch 2b 5c 6c etc. I also don't use this combo in tournaments yet.

Yes, MAT and UMAD are different tournaments. MAT is more about Capcom games, but sometimes we'll enter and run side tournaments there if there's space.
-
Every year we try, but it doesn't work out for various reasons. Maybe this year since we're more experienced and have only 2 main games, we'll be able to finish that earlier, and have time for this.
-
Vampire Savior... sure we can run something if players show up. DaiAndOh, do you know of any other people that play VSav that are thinking of coming? I don't have any news on people booking hotel rooms. I might be able to offer you a futon in our living room if no one else has a better offer. Would have to check with my roommates if you're interested, but it should be ok.

So, I was thinking of not entering any games at UMAD this year to be able to run things more smoothly, but I had a better idea, I won't run any brackets instead. So, I'll be needing a few more people capable of running brackets this year. It's a bit more tricky than filling out the blanks on a sheet of paper, so we'll be using the monthlies until then as a practice run for people who haven't done it yet. The following people won't be running brackets because I already know they can : derq, brice, greenix, wakeupdp, level5, airmaster. However, it would be too easy for anyone to run brackets at the monthly since we all know each other, so here's the interesting part. I'd like to encourage everyone to come up with a new name/handle for the monthly tournaments. -
That's the general idea. However, the opponent can usually roll out of a safejump or just delay their wake up, so you should at least learn another setup that takes advantage of that (like one with a meaty 2b instead of a safejump). If not, it gets frustrating when you feel like you can't do anything about it.

I'd be interested in going. Might have a job by then, might not, so I'll play it safe and say I'm more interested in leaving Saturday morning. -
So, since BBCP 1.1 came out, I've created a new video thread. Post 1.1 videos there, keep posting 1.0 videos if there are any in the old thread. It will stay there as reference since our character didn't change much. I've also added BBCP 1.1 changes to the first post of this thread. Both this thread and the combo thread will stay as they. If you have any feedback, ideas, or anything you want to discuss concerning the board, post up. Now would probably be a good time, since NA release is tomorrow is the patch should arrive eventually. I would also like to post completed versions of these two videos : basic setups - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td5yfFO6hZg basic combos - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q2rAbIz5b0 in the first posts (and maybe a few other places) to help people get started with the character. So if you have any feedback on those let me know asap, I'll be making some adjustments before I publish them (like fixing a few titles and notations) probably tomorrow afternoon.

Ottawa: Why have fundamentals when you have gimmicks?

Hey guys, we're having our next monthly on... March 30th, a Sunday, hoping to start around 6pm. Sadly, Fridays and Saturdays are way too busy at Foonzo for us to run a tournament. -

If you guys going could do me a favor and check out how crowded it is in general, like how many extra stations we might be able to bring. I think we'll do our monthly next Sunday. With only two stations we might be unable to run full double elimination 2 out of 3 brackets for both BB and GG. So yeah... March 30 Monthly Mashfest 2014 Where : Foonzo 1245 Rue Drummond, Montreal When : Signups end at 6pm, tournaments should be done before 10pm. What : BBCP and GGXXAC+R Entry fee : Free Format : well... since we only have 2 stations now we might have to do double elim best of one, or teams. If we get space and people bring setups we might be able to do something more standard, but I can't promise anything. Stream : probably twitch.tv/bibiquadium If it doesn't work out we'll probably record everything and upload here : https://www.youtube.com/user/MTLBlazBlue/videos -
Good timing lol, I'm working on a basic setups video. Here's the rough draft : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td5yfFO6hZg If you guys have any feedback let me know! I thought about it too, but since it's a video aimed more at people who are starting with the character, I prefer to not include combos that you can alter the ending depending on the distance to the corner. In that regard I was really hesitant to add overdrive stuff since I rarely go for it myself, but I figured it's worth showing at least. Scroll up a few posts and check the video with beginner and intermediate combos I posted, I think that's what you're looking for?

I don't feel like the damage you gain is worth losing the knockdown in that situation. SoD ender gives you extra damage, although not as much, and still gives you decent knockdown options. Here's a comparison : throw 6a 6b 5c 6c tachi j.4d j.c j.623c 3342 throw 6a 6b 5c 6c 5d SoD 3020 throw 2b 2c j.2c 2b 6a 6b 6c 5d SoD 3109 throw 5b 2c j.2c 2b 6a 6b 6c 5d SoD 3221
