  1. Could you guys coming to MAT let us know what time you think you'll be at the venue? We'd like to know so we can have an idea for a schedule. Thanks.
  2. Nemesis started around 3 iirc and we went for supper between 7-8 when we got to top 4. We had 2 stations running the tournament, and like Blade says, we weren't very experienced. I'd really like it if we switched to single elim best of 1 teams of 2 or 3 also had people assigned to finding participants and bringing them to the stations. If anyone is good with recognizing faces and remembering names, raise your hand. That's one thing I absolutely suck at. But yes, my guess is that everything will take longer than expected and will start late.
  3. hehe, that's probably the most detailed version I posted yet, so good for that. by the way, are you slightly interested in going to East Coast Throwdown, or not at all?
  4. I sent cranky a PM to ask him what they were doing on their end. The plan for ours is kinda flexible. We're gonna be doing BB, GG, AH, MTL vs TO, in that order. My guess is BB will take 2-3 hours, GG will take <2 hours, AH will take <1 hour. We'll start once everyone is there and at least slightly warmed up, which means between some time between 1 PM and 6 PM, but I really hope we'll start close to 2 PM. It pretty much depends on what time the guys from Toronto will get here.
  5. Eh, sry, tourney's on PS3 and she was only released on PSN, yesterday? Kind of unfair, we weren't even sure if she'd be released or not, so we decided to play it safe. She'll still be available on consoles if you want to do some casuals/MMs. Also, we'll have at least a GG setup kinda early if you want to warm up
  6. No no it's really fine, my bad. We could probably just reserve the hotel for Friday and Saturday night only, thought you said you worked on Monday. Makes things a lot easier, we could probably, sleep, leave Friday afternoon and have some free time. Maybe the guys in the area are having a meetup of some sort that Friday night. @Nini: lol I haven't played enough SC to find that trailer hype, just looks like SC4 with ultras. @Kaeru: Thank you very much!
  7. GGs today guys, had fun. Lol gonna get blown up in GG and arcana, haven't been playing enough lately, at least I should do well in BB. @Kirbster/Brice/Rhannmah/Kaeru/??? : please fill in this spreadsheet for MAT. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap4GlIscp9X8dGp4OW1Yc3lxSU5iQnJ3Z3RDRFNXVHc&authkey=CIXN0cQK&hl=en_US#gid=0 I think we could get up to 8 setups total, and so far we only have 4 PS3s. Post up guys. @Brice/Steb: I need to reserve the hotel tomorrow, do you guys think I could reserve for 3 and them call them to add a 4th if ever? Going to reserve for 3 nights, thursday, friday and saturday, btw. Don't forget to work on your passports if you don't have them please. @Blade: thanks for the headset! I'll confirm if I can pick you up or not during the day. @Nini: we got some recording done today, probably won't upload it until after MAT tough. @Ken: woah definitely not the job for me. edit:@Kaeru/Rhannmah: If you guys are there Sunday, can I count on at least one of you to help with the TV transportation by returning the CRTs we'll be borrowing from the HQ after the event is over. I'll be in charge of going to get them with Airmaster Saturday morning, unless either of you wants to do it.
  8. You know, the thing between your user account name and avatar. Or at least I think it's called like that?
  9. @Nini: Mmm I meant more like, chances I win are kinda low but never 0. Each tournament I prepare for, I feel like I got better and this time I have a real chance at placing high. Winning? not yet, I know my tourney nerves can't handle that*, but I think I'm improving at a good pace and I will start taking tournaments soon. *(heck just getting close to beating omni the first time we played ever, but dropping the game winning gold burst combo and then proceded to mash my way into a loss, okay he picked jin, but still, that was yesterday and just netplay, but I really felt the effect of the nerves that one game) @Nolan: you know, "I don't like the way I have to play my old main in this revision, so I might as well try tier whoring for a game I enjoy playing anyways" is not necessarily bad. You can also see it as "I'm helping the community gain this matchup exp because no one else is tier-whoring, because nini isn't back yet". @Zeero: Noted, regional seeding for sure. I was thinking about using T11's results to seed you guys coming over, to have an idea of who is better at tournaments than who, but if you have a recommendation, feel free to PM me. If by TO/MTL rivalry, you mean going to TO more often to play you guys, just waiting on my uncle to finish renovations and I can bring people with me there whenever (well, almost). In other news, I'm about to change my title. edit : lol'd @ sega http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90V_yIBjH2M#t=1m37
  10. you mean no xboxes? so if we bring ps3s on the crts we're good? edit: oh you meant friday. sry.
  11. No, people really disliked pools for the MvC tournament at Ottawa last time. I think the best way to run the tournament is to do what satisfies the most people and is standard, in this case, double elim 2/3. If it were just up to me, I'd do single elim best of 1, locked characters, and teams. [RANT]I mean, with the current format, the better players usually win, but what's the point of having a tournament if you already know who's going to win. I'll go with it because I support the scene and want people to attend these events, but honestly, when I pay my tourney fees, I know I'm giving someone else my money. Do FT5s if you want to see who's better than who, or start a danisen league if you want to see who's the best in a community. Also, pools take forever and most people will participate in more than one game, so it just can't work in our case.[/RANT]
  12. Nah, Blade is probably going to rig the brackets like only he can. He's gonna play Zeero 1st round, and then right away in losers, the loser of Kousaka vs Vice-Taicho. More seriously though, would it be a horrible idea to seed the brackets with what I think players' strengths are? Location for sure though, but I have to figure out how.
  13. I know you guys like to not read posts, but please put what you can bring in this spreadsheet. It will help organize things. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap4GlIscp9X8dGp4OW1Yc3lxSU5iQnJ3Z3RDRFNXVHc&hl=en_US&authkey=CIXN0cQK Also, looking at these results, I o.O http://shoryuken.com/forum/threads/ufgt7-results-and-shoutouts.137668/ (PR Balrog #2 BBCS2, Jwong top 5 in tekken)
  14. Oh well, you're gonna have to rep Ottawa then. They should come, I'm sure they'd enjoy it Hehe, last major we went to Dunns for both poutine and smoked meat, maybe this time we'll do one for supper and one for midnight snack if people are up for that. 5A is still as fast as ever, they just nerfed instant blocking and the reward for landing it. Kaeru still plays bang, and he should be there. Monster King also plays bang, but I haven't heard from him in a while.
  15. Great, hopefully this will hype you enough to pick it up for next time. His combos changed a lot, I don't blame you for not wanting to participate, his BnBs don't look too hard though, so you could give it a shot if you have some free time. By the way, do you know if the pnp or imperial sport are coming?
  16. 14 minute walk to Schwartz's, 28 minute walk to La Banquise, according to google maps. Schwatz's closes at 2:30 AM on saturdays, and La Banquise is open 24/7 if that was your next question :P Brice, if I don't forget again, I'll bring it to MAT.
  17. Daaamn I forgot , I have my laptop and recording stuff with me though. RTSD.
  18. I'll bring mine for the recording setup. I can do brackets on it like at the easter tournament, but since we'll be recording on it might not be a bad idea to have brackets on another laptop. Meetup tomorrow Brice might open in the afternoon. Got blown up in netplay, connections were decent but somehow I couldn't finish a combo. Might have something to do with practicing over an hour right before on arakune as my dummy.
  19. Yo nini I need your help im in a room with omni how do I beat him?
  20. Apply for your a job at your municipality. It helps to have a driver's license if you go blue collar, but not really if you go white collar. @Nini: Ah well it was the last weekend of june (and I was slightly trolling). How will you be 21 next year, you can't skip them like in school, well, legally. I'll show him.
  21. There's always summer brawl and the T12 maybe? Lemme guess, you're coming back the week after ECT? (If you're coming back THAT WEEKEND come to NJ instead of MTL, stay with us and go to the tournament, and then come back to mtl with us). In other news, are you still interested in going to evo? I know it's expensive so not many from here are up for it. It's probably going cost around 1k, I think. I remember sophisticat and level5 were kinda interested a while ago, but even I'm not sure about that much. Depends how I do at MAT and ECT (not necessary success, I just wouldn't want to be too far behind to appreciate the trip).
  22. Yes! LinkedIn! Made my acc this afternoon, don't worry nolan, I'll get contacts soon enough, I know people (who know people (who know people (who know people))). Seriously, anyone who wants to make finding jobs and contacts easier should make an account. reminder: anyone interested in ECT tournament in New Jersey (6h drive) the weekend of the Saint-Jean Baptiste? Will cost around 150$ each for gas and hotel, 3 nights (thu, fri, sat). I need to reserve the hotel this Friday at the latest. We'll leave Thursday evening and return Sunday night.
  23. Lol that's a list of what people can bring. We'll probably bring a box or two anyways... in case sony does something. I don't know what they could do, but you should never underestimate sony.
  24. I think we'll have enough people bringing stuff, I'm hoping everyone can fill in what they can bring in this spreadsheet https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap4GlIscp9X8dGp4OW1Yc3lxSU5iQnJ3Z3RDRFNXVHc&hl=en_US&authkey=CIXN0cQK and we'll discuss it at Thursday's meetup and let everyone know then exactly what we depend on them to bring (with probably a spare and a desynch station). @Vice, pointe toi, jte prete l'argent pour entrer et les tournois. Ou sinon jte money match pour le tout, 35-45$ 3/5 bbcs2? t'es vrm bon et jveux pas que montreal disappoint le monde de toronto. @Fugu: add it to the spreadsheet, once everyone does it we'll be able to tell everyone what to bring.
  25. Hmmm yeah just remembered TO guys are driving in Saturday, w/e I think we'll just wait for everyone to get warmed up, do whatever we have time to do on Saturday and do the rest sunday. Still, if we get something like 4-8 setups running the tournament, early brackets will be over really quickly. I think we should have no problem getting 3-5 tables, and we have access to the CRTs from the HQ, so as long as enough people bring consoles and games, we're good. @Vice: yeah, I think cranky asks for 10$ to be a spectator, but that means you can't play casuals at all, if not 25$ venue fee, you just don't enter the tournaments. Why would you not participate, though? Broke? I'll lend you, lol.
