Meetup was fun, played more arcana and melty than BB though. I even practiced marvel combos on a decent stick at some point. Slowly de-freeing, but my BB has gone bad, I have to relearn IB-DP, kept getting it wrong, maybe it's partly the IB nerf and frame data changes... I dunno I'm still kinda salty about it though. Update for MAT8 : platinum is banned, we're running on PS3. I hope you're okay with this, Eb, we discussed it with those at the meetup and it seemed pretty unanimous. Might as well repost what Cranky said: so since I don't think anyone else is up for bringing TVs, we might need those from HQ, if any of you are coming by car (mine will already be full of stuff) and want to help out, get in touch with him and see if he needs more. So we discussed it today, platinum is banned. It's unfair for PS3ers who would be clueless in the matchup. I'll let the guys running the website know, so it will be updated there too. And yup, PS3 it is for the tournament. It's listed, we wouldn't have enough Xboxes to run on it exclusively, and about half our community consists of PS3 pad players.

Didn't know there were clear timing differences between xbox and ps3, but I wouldn't know, my execution is pretty bad and my character doesn't require too much precision. We're used to offering both consoles because we had both ps3 and xbox pad warriors, but we'll be able to have enough PS3s if this really is an issue. Our local xbox pad player is currently in tunisia that shouldn't be an issue either. In any case, we listed it as PS3, so you can always veto to it. Don't think PSN store is back but there's a chance it'll be back before MAT8. I agree that if platinum is unavailable on it, and we listed the tournament as PS3, then likely banned. But yeah, we'll come up with a decision before Monday. Wait a sec... randomed out by a heart car... if we don't ban platinum we might stand a chance :O

Yes it's CS2, lol. About platinum, we're going to discuss this, she's not broken like valk when he came out, but I do agree that it would be unfair to get randomed out for not knowing the matchup. However, we do have 360s and converters for pad warriors, so availability is not an issue. If you guys are for banning her, we'll definitely take this into account. Keep in mind, if she's not banned, we'll have maximum 1 or 2 people playing her, with 2-3 weeks of learning tops.

Why are you so afraid of 2v2? I'm mostly suggesting it because if we have people coming on Sunday, we might as well have some kind of tournament happening, mtl vs toronto would be fun if we keep it to best of 1s, JP style, and it might be enough, though. But keep in mind, it's only legit because your character changed a lot, and after MAT8 your it's no longer valid and you will be considered... dodging. Yeah I talked with Cranky the other day about arcana/melty side tourneys, says it's cool, 8 people minimum to keep it interesting. I think we need to figure out a schedule too. I'm thinking we should probably do BB singles on Saturday, during SSF4, followed by Guilty Gear maybe at the same time as MK, but not sure when they were going to do that. Given our numbers and the amount of stations we have, we should be done grand finals before MvC3 starts. At this point we'll also check our numbers for Arcana/Melty, as well as interest in, just throwing out ideas here, maybe a teams BB tournament (2v2 or 3v3?), or a 5v5 (or 8v8, or more) Toronto vs Montreal match or something like that, for Sunday, if people will be attending Sunday too. Anyways, I'll talk with some from Toronto at Anime North this weekend, and I'll also keep in touch with Cranky. I think the important thing is to avoid having a tournament at the same time as MvC3. We'll discuss this tonight at the HQ, but if anyone has any, thoughts? And just some more logistics... can anyone other than me bring a TV/Monitor/some sort of screen device thing that can be used to plug in a video game console? We don't have a van anymore, so I'm not sure how many CRTs I will be able to bring this time. Even if I can bring the same amount, that's 3 CRTs and an Evo monitor. I asked Cranky and he can lend us the CRTs from the HQ which are rather small so I'd like to keep them as a last resort. There will be one streaming/recording HD xbox 360 station, as well as a SD recording station connected to a CRT, both with mics if people want to commentate. But damn didn't have any time to do what I wanted to do tonight, which was to learn the close-to-but-not-corner combos with Mu Lots of fun to be had in marvel training mode. At least I had time to refresh my arcana bnbs for anime north in case that game gets played.

Knew about that one, thanks for the vid though, different combo ideas. But what I mean was the other way around, tron being the second super. I need to DHC twice so I go from storm's elemental rage, to king servbot, to hyper sentinel force, and then I can do another combo with sentinel. But that's a lot of meter. After spending a bit of time in training mode, think I'm going to go with Tron/Sentinel/Storm. The drones allow for some interesting mixups with tron. So my plan is do some random shit, hope it hits, if it does, get sentinel out with tron assist, play lame, worst case scenario, xfactor storm mixup followed by ice storm chip. I'm hyped for trying it out.

I DHC one into the other, King servbot arrives too late to pickup the opponent and I don't have time to do anything. I tried on Wolverine and Wesker. If it doesn't work on them, it might as well not work at all. I think I'm just going to learn 800 dmg tron bnbs instead and keep the DHC trick as a backup plan instead of depending on it.

Lol brice comme au secondaire. Storm - Tron DHC trick, I can't get it to work. I mean, I have to go Storm - Tron - Sentinel to get another combo which does like lethal damage but is really unstable and barely does more damage than doing a normal double DHC finisher...

Hmm thanks for the ideas, I'll work around with it, might change the order of my team, or just be able to adapt the order to various matchups. Didn't know that you could end the DHC glitch with Tron, is there a list somewhere? I remember finding one at some point, but I also clearly remember that this particular case wasn't on the list because I had the same team at the time.

It's this weekend, we'd leave Friday and return Sunday, but only go to the event on Saturday. And yeah, we'd go by car, I'm driving and we're splitting the cost of gas. @Blade : yeah, trying out the matchups, I figured Cap had bad mobility so I'd be better off zoning, guess I should try rushdown. I'm up for getting help though, maybe I could go to your place with my stick some evening. I dunno about ditching tron though, the assist gains me the respect I need to "safely" call sentinel's assist in order to rtsd, can't place her second either, need that DHC glitch for good damage because I don't actually play this game.

Meetup was pretty fun, the lack of PS2 sticks makes me sad, would have liked to play more GG. Thanks to Kirbster for the tips on the mentality I should have. Yeah, so far me, brice, and gil are going to the HQ. Brice should be there in 10 minutes, he just grabbed my bbcs/xbox from work. Dunno how crowded it will be since it's a Tuesday and there might be a Marvel/MK tournament. Apparently they rearranged it so we should be good.

Lol, I wouldn't travel alone either, more fun if we do it as a group,. It costs less too if we're more because we split gas and hotel costs. By the way, do you know exactly when you're coming back? Like, in time for ECT/EVO/summer jam/T12? (okay not 100% sure about evo, because that will cost over one thousaaand, but it looks hype as fuck)

Of course! Me and Brice are up for travelling to everything, as long as it doesn't interfere with exams. Just got my passport done a few weeks ago, so I'm good for at least another 5 years.

@Airmaster or anyone else this could concern : could you please bring your 360 compatible stick? I wouldn't want there to be so many stations running that we become bottlenecked on the sticks. @Nolan: thanks for letting us know though.
