5C is an amazing spacing tool. Gives you a free high/low on block or you can do shenanigans with strike pressure (delayed 236A to catch jump out, 2C for tricks, etc). The range of the move also catches a lot of jumpers (esp if they try to jump out to escape the incoming mixup). 5D is basically what kro said, the followup is good for mixups but comboing into this move is not always straightforward and rarely optimal j.D is cool. IAD jD or 7 jD can be used to bait certain annoying DPs (ie. Yosukes) or set up some oki, cover some ground, stuff jump outs, etc Problem is that its slow... most viable after a knockdown, but then you lose chain oki or dash in mixup 2C the ghetto anti-air, much higher margin of error than 2B, but the reward is often not worth it unless spaced well for the charged B+D. I wonder if you can bait Kanji's j.C with this
-
Well I wouldn't say you CAN'T throw per se. You can throw, but not immediately. Mashing throw after a blocked A followup will never work. Grounded 236A/B -> 6 -> A really is never a clean blockstring so scrap what I said earlier. Delayed throw after A followup will not work on characters with fast jabs like Aki or Yu

[P4A] Kanji vs. Labrys: Clever subtitle goes here.
TransientFaith replied to Circuitous's topic in Kanji Matchups
Labrys can convert almost any hit into red axe with meter. The exception to this is 5C. 5C -> high/low will almost never put her in red axe (unless...you get hit with 5C on the ground and are close then she can do 2C > charge DP > w.e to get red axe) On the flip side, Labrys will lose red axe the moment you touch her so... -
lol? Well, she has some pretty scary unblockables and annoying crossups. She definitely has better screen control and compared to conditional string arts oki labrys has...yeah

[P4A] Kanji vs. Labrys: Clever subtitle goes here.
TransientFaith replied to Circuitous's topic in Kanji Matchups
That's not true. All that means is you mistimed you 2B. 2B will beat deep j.B at pretty much all angles. I will have to agree though the risk/reward of trying to anti-air j.B with Kanji's 2B is not worth it. Better to block it since she's either going to come straight down (2 jumps used, or air dash used) or she'll try to jump away (free 236C), or jump forward -

Basically it's spacing dependent. Up close, you have enough blockstun to make the A followup a clean blockstring putting you at plus. At a distance, you MAY not have enough blockstun to make it clean, but you will be able to break -> block to try to bait reversals. Then again, if you are using chain at a distance, you have more worries than your opponent DPing the blocked chain like...rolled chain whiff into CH punish...

I'm guessing he means tick throw protection? You can't throw people in hit/blockstun (but you can throw people in spin state)

MetalThrashingMadman is in need of a partner for UCC. Whose game? PM me I guess?
-
Heh thanks guys. I guess I will do autocombo on aerial opponents a bit less in green axe...though the meter bonus is still...
-
You know...real talk...I can't disagree.
-
Well if you want to be gimmicky, when you see coup charge, throw out 236B. This will force a clash is she releases, or if not...CH After the clash though, you might want to experiment with your options haha
-
Since I'm a duck and iora keeps wanting people to do 25 meter combos... What are your favorite 25 meter combos on AIRBORNE opponents? Preferably off reasonable starters like 5A/2B
-
The Mitsuru was pretty bad. He wasn't playing the matchup at all. Just flow charts all did. So how to improve? Pretty much that snippet sums it up very well. There were a TON of hella unsafe stuff you did that was specific to the matchup. Not to say don't use unsafe options, but just...don't use hella unsafe ones Empty jump is good, but against a good Mitsuru that is asking to eat 2b. Pre-emptive/yomi DPs are suuuuuper scary. Can't even super cancel them ouch. Definitely agree with hitting the combo thread, don't disagree with autocombos. Autocombos are great as long as you use them for 1) easy meter gain, 2) easy kill 5AAA A/236B 236236B is ez 4.2-4.4k in non-awakening AND works on aerial opponents (though some might argue with point 2 hahaha). Also, CH B+D > AAA does NOT work in green axe. Do CH B+D > 5A > 2B > air combo instead. For the second match, experiment with 5C at distance a bit. It's extremely useful against even aggressive Kanji's in neutral. And in all cases, use 2a more. There will be a point where people just block and tech throws...so throwing in some mixup high/lows is a must.
-
This soooooo much. From my experiences 5A just makes people annoyed...esp when they get hit by it. I have yet to fight someone that really "respects" it per se
-
Last I heard, theres a lot of stragglers... I can't say I didn't expect last second teaming when I proposed this honestly...

It is me being charitable to the community by donating my own money into the tournament to support the scene. Apologies for the confusion of wording. -
Oh right there that sweep thing. That can be useful too haha Labrys's rocket punch is 's on whiff so...I would hardly say this is useful in neutral. It's good in pressure though.
-
:gonk::gonk: I'm sure people will be able to lend them out? Worst case I guess I can ask my friend to bring his?
-
Spaced 5c is good in neutral if you are far enough away. If you are in there always throw/2a. 5b, 2c, and 5d are trash in neutral. 2b can be useful... as can dash 5a.

Car still technically has room for 1 but room is full.

A well spaced 2B will eat Caesar and hit Akihiko. A poorly spaced 2B will eat CH j.C for a potential high damage combo from Akihiko. Wonderful...
