Isn't that just for Japan though?
-
3pm. Hopefully this time I will have my shit together and be ready to go at 3 instead of having to drag tables and milk crates around afterwards :P
-
Let me ask my roommates today, and I'll get back to you. EDIT: We are good to go for Saturday!
-
I could do this Saturday if need be. Just to take the pressure off Mightbro. :D In other news I'll be MIA the weekend of the 11th. After that I should be G2G. Also Mightfo, where did you buy your PS2/3 to Xbox converters from? I'm thinking of picking up one or two but I want to try to get them from a reputable source.
-
Well thats fair. I'm not really a big fan of her but I just wanted your opinion. I don't even play characters I like in SSF4 haha.
-
Why do you like Juri so much? Whats the appeal? EDIT: I mean besides DEM FEET
-
Do you guys think if I wait until the beginning of January I might still be able to get a copy of AH3? I'm not faring well in the cashflow department right now.
-
And you can't call a brotha with an invite? I know y'all gonna be grubbin'. Man, I thought we was boys.
-
Also, has anyone listened to the new BlazBlue podcast on IPlayWinner?

No offense taken :P I like Ultras because in some ways they are reminiscent of having the different Supers of 3rd Strike. Except... in 3S even though everyone has 3 supers to choose from, really there is only one thats any good for most people especially the lower tier characters. i.e. Alex. Some people run SA1-Hyper Bomb which is basically a 360 super Tager buster. But because it takes forever to fill up and you get one stock. So you get 3.2 EX moves per bar that you can't use cause you need to save up for the super. Also can't be comboed into. Its difficult to land on a good player. SAIII-Stun Gun Headbutt gives you 2 EX moves with another grab ultra, but it works more like El Fuerte's Ultra 1 Flying Giga Buster or Taokaka's Pounce distortion. Saving that you can just jump out of it. So with Alex the only Super Art that maters is SAII-Boomarang Raid, it gives the most EX-moves (4.8) which are really useful, it has 2 stocks, it charges quickly, its comboable. Chun-Li in SSF4 has 2 great Ultras. U1 is a fireball punish, and U2 is for combos. The revenge system means that if the Chun player outclasses a Ryu player she never gets Ultra 1, just out plays him and wins. If they are more evenly matched, she eventually gains U1 and takes away an entire part of his game and forces him to play footsies, where Chun-Li shines. Its not like its as mindless as people make it out to be. Its scrub-friendly but it creates a pretty good meta-game IMO in a lot of matchups. Having it separate from the Super gauge also means I don't have to choose between my matchup changing tool and my EX moves. Every groove is used in serious play except S-Groove. There just isn't a good way to charge it in that game. Its not considered to be as strong as the others but, its not trash, dodges are completely invincible from start to finish and can be cancelled into themselves kekeke. This can get wacky. P-Groove is used by a very small group of people. I think Steve H from East Coast uses it. Its not bad, but it only has 1 stock and parrying is slightly more difficult in that game. It has a smaller window I think. EDIT: K-Groove gets a lot of use. It has the Rage Gauge from Samurai Shodown. You can do a lot of damage with it. If you want to read up on the game and its systems check out this FAQ

Its worth learning. For a number of reasons. 3rd Strike is mostly about footsies. Which is a huge component of all good fighting games IMO. I honestly can't choose whether I like SSF4 more or not though. The characters in SSF4 are much better balanced, the Ultra system is fun and makes for an entertaining stream game, the focus attack system as good and bad parts but, armor cancelling is teh sex yo. As far as tiers go in 3rd Strike, if you put in the time you can learn to defeat the holy trinity of that game, Yun, Chun-Li and Ken, with any character. The parry system is amazing in my opinion. Its really captures what Street Fighter is all about.Yomi. SF is all about training your opponent to do one thing and then punishing him for doing it. Knowing what your opponent wants to do and countering it. Parrying doesn't need a whiff animation IMO because if you fuck it up, you eat the attack. The only thing even marginally scrubby about parrying is SGGK, which is an option select that lets you kara-throw/throw or down parry, counter attack and link super. But its not easy to pull off and still requires skill to do so its not that bad. I both love and hate the meter system in SF3 but I've already gone into TL;DR territory. If you want a run down on 3rd Strike message me on AIM or something I can clue you in a ton. EDIT: Vampire Savior is Capcom's Guilty Gear.

Are you asking if 3rd Strike is any good? Please tell me you're trolling me.
-
You're supposed to mash during super flashes yo. lrn2SF4 n00b. Too bad you're on Xbox otherwise I'd play you some. Maybe sometime we could just throw down at a meetup.
-
I don't think they'll let you be a mod til you learn notation :P No matter how good you are ::
-
I like that I'm the only person who goes in hard on SSF4 online haha. No one else cares haha. Stay free jetblaksuit. EDIT: I'd totally be down for an Austin trip.

Whats a blazblue? In other news, a friend of mine is selling his Round 1 MadCatz PS3 TE's for $80 OBO. If you're interested PM me. He has 2 of them. Adult owned in a smoke-free enviroment.

The bus costs $4 but, I got debt and bills to pay so I'm always broke at the end of the month. I wasn't planning on asking anyone for a ride cause I can't afford to give them gas money either. (stay free American economy). But yeah, if someone wants to be goodly enough to pick me up that'd be awesome. Otherwise I'll be at the house practicing FRCs and hoping that you all are having a great time.
-
Probably not coming Saturday unless bus money falls out of the sky and even then I'll probably just buy food with that 4 bucks.

Most games use a small amount of HDD space but I have a 40gb and haven't had any problems. You won't use all that space unless A) You decide to install every game for faster loading. B) You put a lot of pics and vids (read: porn) on it. C) You end up playing a fuckton of games on it and legitimately use all that space.

I don't know anything about the lag RaveSage mentioned but, just so you know TEs don't work with PS2 games. I don't know how well other arcade sticks function with them. Also, when you get a Triple let me know. I can let you borrow MGS4 and you can truly join the Trey Brotherhood.

Apparently there's some sort of import issue going on in Japan. Something about packages under 1 pound not being shipped unless the shipper is registered with Japan Post. They talk about it in the AH3 thread on SRK. I would advise against ordering AH3 until you can be sure this gets cleared up.
-
I'll more than likely be at my house if you just want to come by and throw down for a bit. I don't have bus fare or gas money to head out to any meetups for the rest of the month. Shoot me a text after you leave Mightfo's
-
lol I thought you were. :P No. I'm unable to attend or host this weekend. I have a friend coming in town again.
-
What are you gonna do with that?
-
