  1. Who has two thumbs and a PS2/PS3 PC Mayflash now modded with Sanwa parts? THIS GUY
  2. Even from max distance?
  3. I'm thinking about picking up Bang. I love how FRKZ changes him from Bang Shishigami to Mag-fuckin'-neto.
  4. Hey Mightfo this made me think of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raSpSrDEMt0#t=11m14s
  5. BB is for homos. Real men play DOA Technically we wouldn't really need a second setup until people are at 3rd dan. 2nd dans can still play 1st dans. but 3rd dans only play 2nd, 3rd and 4th dans.
  6. Is that some kind of midget fat chick porn? Do not want. 1) Everyone would start at 1st Dan. We'd just run it on one setup at first. It'll be a little crazy in the beginning cause some people would level up really quickly but eventually it would settle out. Also every time someone ranks up they pass. That keeps someone from just running through everyone. 2) I would figure that at each meetup one person should be designated to keep up with it. And they just get the info from the players after each match.
  7. I DIDN'T CARE ANYMORE!
  8. You only play against people who are within +/- 1 rank of you. So a 9th dans play 10th, 9th and 8th dans. A first dan would play any Kyu ranked players as wells as 1st and 2nd dans. The only difference is if you are above 10th dan you only play people of the same rank as you. 10th dan would only play 9th and 10th dans. Above 10th Dan the ranks have special names. We could come up with some of our own As far as keeping track of things on your netbook, that works when the meet is at your house and when you attend but otherwise we'd just need to put it down on paper. We'd basically make up a chart and just mark wins and losses as they happen and then tally it up and update wherever we keep it posted.
  9. I FUCKIN LOVE POKEMON. WHY YOU HATIN'
  10. Not unless someone gives me a ride. This month is kinda tight and I might not be able to spare the bus fare. If you want you could come get my splitter and speakers from me Friday. But if you're going to do that you could potentially hook me up with a ride :D First of all, thats really impressive Rave. My Excel skills have really hit rock bottom since high school. The points section only really needs to be +3/-3 or +5/-3. Its only really necessary to know what someone needs to get to the next rank. I hadn't even considered keeping track of win/loss records. Also, we need a good way to keep track of this all at the meetups. Something we could just print out, mark on, and tally up at the end. I figure the way we'd do it is just meet up as normal and play casuals. Then for maybe like an hour or so, some predetermined time, we run Danisen. So lets say the meetup starts at 3, we run danisen from 5-7 and then proceed as normal.
  11. Thats part of the reason I'd prefer a Danisen system. Even if you missed a meet you wouldn't be penalized. You just wouldn't be accruing levels. You wouldn't be behind anyone and when you came to the next one you could just pick up where you left off. In general it just better facilitates the whole pickup nature of meetups. So like every meetup we'd dedicate and hour or so to Danisen, keep track of things and keep the front post updated. If we didn't want to you the front post we could make another thread somewhere on dustloop, use my Tumblr or even create a blogspot for it.
  12. Yeah thats works. So the basic format would go as follows. We have two setups dedicated to the league. Whoever is in charge of keeping track of things logs the outcome of the matches on a sheet of paper. The first setup is dedicated to 1st and 2nd dan. The second is 2-4. Once someone has reached 4th Dan they have to enter another character or play on (hopefully) the third setup. Once more people are in the higher ranks of play that won't be an issue though. I figure Mightfo can keep the first post updated with everyone's current rankings as long as whoever has the info keeps him informed. EDIT: As long as I stay healthy (because I'm starting to feel kinda shitty lol) the action is go to have a meetup at my place Saturday afternoon. EDIT part deux: Looking into it some more there's actually and answer to what happens when you lose at first dan:yaaay: Kyu Ranks: -At 1st Dan, if you lose 5 points you will be demoted to 1st Kyu. -From 1st Kyu, each further increasing losing streak takes you up to 10th Kyu (-10, -20, etc.). Ex. 1st Kyu at 0 -> -10 -> 2nd Kyu at 0. -Winning just 1 match at Kyu ranks resets you back to 1st Dan at 0. -Kyu ranks are considered on the same level as 1st Dan, so they may play up to 2nd Dan.
  13. Well I'm pretty sure thats not how it works actually. You need to get -3 to move down and +3 to move up. I'm just confused about what happens when you lose at first dan. Disregard that I suck cocks. I reread your post and I understand what you mean now.
  14. So it seems to me that the consensus is in favour of a danisen league rather than ranbats. We'd need to make sure someone keeps track of it all correctly. I figure that would likely fall to whoever is currently hosting? Thats the only way I see that we can be sure that someone is always there to keep up with it. I wouldn't mind keeping track when I host but, I don't want to volunteer anyone else haha. Also one of the things I'm confused about the whole thing is when you're at 1st Dan and you lose, do you get -1 still? and if so do you just accumulate a ton of negative 1st Dan points or does it max at -3?
  15. We could either do ranked battles or a danisen league. In RanBats we'd basically run a tourney on a regular basis and the top placers would gain a certain number of points. Then at the end of a predetermined "season" the person with the most points is the champion. If any of you are familiar with NASCAR its basically how that works. In a danisen league each player enters a character and begins at 1st Dan. Players fight other players within 1 rank of themselves on a single setup using a winner stays format. One win = +1 point, One loss = -1 point, +3 moves the player up 1 rank, -3 moves the player down 1 rank. Rankings go from 1st to 10th Dan, with special rankings after 10th Dan. After 10th Dan, players only fight other players of the same rank, and must instead get +5 points to move up a rank. -3 points still moves you down. You can enter multiple characters and try to level them up too. We have a somewhat small scene with inconsistent attendance. I think a danisen league would be a better option than ranbats for those reasons. Plus, if we get new players they're not automatically behind in points just because of when the come into the scene. Also a tournament seems slightly more complex to run. EDIT: They also talk about danisen leagues a bit in this episode of the iPlayWinner podcast http://iplaywinner.com/news/2010/10/1/iplaywinner-podcast-episode-09-whats-new-in-japan-danisen-le.html
  16. The first Team St1ckbug Biweekly GGAC tourney had some hype Johnny matches IIRC http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F111195DB5136ABC
  17. Should be able to yeah. I gotta clear it with the roommates and the we will be g2g.
  18. Stay free, Ronin's nose, stay free. Edit: Also whats this business about a San Antonio tourney?
  19. Is this guy for serious? Nothing against going to tournaments of course, I'd like to go to one when its more in my price range. $35 is quite a good chunk of money for me to drop especially when you add in bus fare, food and drinks and other assorted costs. If there was a cheaper event I definitely be more keen on attending. Practicing and being good at games is its own reward though. I get a feeling of accomplishment.
  20. Who's hosting this weekend? I could potentially host Fri or Saturday just let me know whats up. In other news I managed to get my buttons put in my stick today and Friday a friend is going to solder it all up and I should be finished. w00t!
