  1. that sounds REALLY hype to me !
  2. You may still need the van to fit everyone, I'm going to be using the tiny civic. This is a long trip and i don't want to cram 3 people in the back, it would be pure torture for them.
  3. The new 5D has me soooooooo HYPE ! equally so at the idea of seals boosting bang's distortions in FRKZ !! I can't wait to see this new daifunka animation. And how easy it will be to get all 4 seals in FRKZ and end with a powered up distortion !
  4. Dashing and instant air dashing are probably the most difficult things to do when transitioning from pad -> stick. So whatever you do, don't get discouraged. It's the "hard part". If you can get this down, you can do anything ! The best advice i can give you is to get comfortable with your stick grip and don't be afraid to change the way you hold the stick to perform certain motions. As an example, i often use my arm instead of my wrist to do certain motions when facing certain directions. When i am facing the other way, i tend to change positions a bit and use my wrist more. It's been so long that i don't even think about it.
  5. The community is worth more then any one man can give!! Hell yea ! i can't wait ! i'm practicing my ass off in GG, as well, my friend ! let's ROCK !
  6. i will not be going by plane afterall. After we discussed it last time i cancelled those plans so that we could have another car and emergency space for extras. Thats why i offered to take bibi if there was no more room. Also if anyone is stuck in the new plans i might be able to accommodate for them.
  7. Yggjrasil, am i correct in assuming your stick is octogone gate? in that case you should look into getting a square gate, since that is what the game was designed for. also are you having trouble with just regular IAD or kire tatami like in star demon's video?
  8. This makes me very angry. We should go to Toronto, again, perhaps after Christmas. Zeero, there is some good stuff boiling up in TO thread, invite some people (just a few) out for some FITE, and then if it becomes regular, it'll spark other people's hunger for moar !
  9. looks good to me, that makes a great reference video. It can be tricky at first, but if you still feel you're having trouble with it, keep practicing and let the muscle memory take over, and it will come out when you need it.
  10. i was supposed to go by plane. I thought everyone else was good to go except Bibi, and would've changed my plans to make sure he goes. Fill me in on the situation and let's work something out.
  11. Star-Demon, that's a good self analysis and you definitely have the right attitude. on the topic of high pressure aggressive players, as you climb to the top this becomes the norm more then the exception, as i am sure you already know. Learning when to block, when to mash, when to be patient and when to go in are things that can come with experience, but we don't all go at the same pace. Having someone point out missed opportunities or poor choices helps a great deal, and reviewing your matches is a great attitude to have.
  12. I'm pretty dissatisfied with my own performance in this tournament, but i am very impressed with everyone's spirit in this community !! I will say this: Focus on making EACH OTHER better. This is the best way for everyone in montreal to grow strong. Having stronger competition makes you stronger in turn. Tell your opponent's what they do wrong and how to fix their game, and expect the same treatment in return ! Burn brightly, my comrades !
  13. I didn't know that about HOS and ABA. I'll definitely give the j.PH option select a try next time i fight one of the HOS in our community. Thanks Hellmonkey !
  14. what kind of TV are you using? and what are you used to using at your GG meetups? Ideally you want to be playing on a computer monitor or a CRT. Not an HDTV.
  15. im about to rage at you nubcaeks. this 2ms and 5ms stuff you are talking about is the response time. Which has NOTHING TO DO WITH INPUT LAG. if you are using a real computor monitor, you can expect 1/2 frames of lag (read 8milliseconds late image). if you are using an HDTV, you can expect anywhere between 2 frames (minimum 30ms) or more. It's got nothing to do with response time. Response time is how fast a pixel on that screen can change colors. It's got nothing to do with how late the monitor even tries to show you an image. The input lag on HDTVs is on purpose, it's intentional. It's part of what makes them have better contrast them computer monitors. mAc, use any true computer monitor and you will have "evo monitor" speed. Which is still 8ms late (1/2 of a frame).
  16. One thing that is very important against Faust is to capitalize on certain mixups that you can do to him. He's one of those characters that you can easily land the following on while he's standing: 5(f)S -> j.D from there you can take your knockdown or even FRC and do 2366K to get a very fast tatami that starts from the air. The j.D will count as an overhead. Also your j.S is a very good tool if he is messing around with pogo or otherwise trying to approach you. Take advantage of how big a target he is. For defending against him, i tend to use Yoshijin often but, as always, Sakura with an FRC is pretty reliable. If he's really good at baiting your counters, i like to try mawarikomi and see what happens. Mawarikomi is the crossing up guard cancel you can do with K. If your mawarikomi is successful and your opponent is stuck in a move or still on the ground, definitely try to go for a grab. It all happens pretty fast so you'll have to practice it. I don't fight any really good Fausts so im really hoping someone with more experience in the matter can give some better insight.
  17. I have to admit i don't use j.H very often, but try to be unpredictable with it as it is very telegraphed as it is. Also if it's blocked high enough it can be canceled into tatami successfully, giving you a better offensive opportunity when you land.
  18. Hi Windman, welcome to the board ! I'll try my best to help you out with your questions. But before getting into too many details per character, i have to ask if you've had a chance to read the guide we have here on the Baiken forum ? It's got quite a bit of useful tools that are worth trying when learning matchups we are not used to. One thing that stands out that im sure will help you out a lot (unless you've already got this one mastered) is the "kire tatami". It's about getting an air dash with a tatami fastfall as low to the ground as possible and having the tatami come out and active in front of you as early as possible into the air dash. This is a great way to "get in" on any opponent who is not expecting it. It's not something to use mindlessly but it is an invaluable asset. Here is how the technique works: the idea is to have the tatami input done before you even leave the ground, then do an instant air dash, and press K to complete the move. The motion is 2369 6 K. After you hit 9, there is a micro delay that must be respected before tapping 6, this is the time it takes for Baiken to get off the ground. Tapping 6 before that will make your dash never come out. After tapping 6, there is a very short time where your airdash is in startup and moves won't come out, so you also have a micro delay after tapping 6, before hitting K. And overall, if too much time elapses before you hit the K button, it might not remember your 236 from the beginning. It is a fairly easy technique when practiced, but it might take a while to perfect. If you already know about this then i apologize. You can also get another explanation of the move and the motion in the guide. Kire tatami is vastly superior to just doing an instant air dash tatami, because it completes faster by keeping you lower to the ground, all while having active frames guiding your landing much sooner. It can be beaten easily if your opponent is expecting it, but it's definitely a great tool. For your matchup questions: Faust: if you are fighting a defensive Faust that prefers to keep full screen distance from you while pelleting you with items and scalpel attacks, this is going to be a very difficult fight. Learn your kire tatami, be sure to block the items and don't approach recklessly. You have to be patient and wait for opportunities. Your kabari(chain pull) can be very good to pull the opponent in little by little, and it's very safe on block if you don't use the follow up. If they air dash over your kabari you can do the follow up which you can use to easily combo Faust. Order Sol: There may be better advice for this matchup with the other users on the forum, but for what it's worth i'll suggest that you try not to use Yoshijin too often unless you are very sure it will counter hit. If Order Sol is coming in from the air, you have to capitalize on Baiken's amazing 6P anti-air. If you are blocking on the ground, Sakura FRC is very safe and gives you frame advantage if your opponent blocks it. If you don't have the meter, you might consider just honest blocking. I like to approach Order Sol with my longest range pokes. Either Kire Tatami, or 2S, or Kabari, or even 2HS at certain distances. Be sure to get knockdown when possible and try to bait his reversal if they do it too often on wakeup. Dizzy: I feel this is the match where the kire tatami will help you a lot, it lets you cover a lot of ground while moving through a fair share of her projectiles. Don't become predictable with it and use Suzuran to move through things if you need to. Suzuran is her command run that blocks high and meds (and projectiles). You can cancel Suzuran into sakura or mawarikomi as soon as you block a projectile to put dizzy on the defensive (sakura) or gain more ground (mawarikomi). Blocking a move and using Ouren can be very good to get in on her too, but don't do this one often because it can be punished very badly when expected. I hope that is a good start to help you out. Many other users will have more useful information for you, i am sure.
  19. Don't pick Relius. He's actually worse then Makoto as a character and his execution level is actually quite high. If you want to pick a character that is left unpicked for the community's sake, while still enjoying yourself, i would have to suggest Taokaka. You will be familiar with the "What is Oki?" attitude that you get to enjoy playing Yosuke. The movement is different but the idea of speed and air supremacy is common between those characters as well.
  20. Thank you so very much for your hard work and translations, Hakimiru and itsme. It may not always show, but many people are grateful to you !
  21. I'm sorry to hear that man, it was worth a try.
  22. For those having trouble getting connections to work, it might be worth a try to disable UPnP from your network settings on your playstation. I remember being completely unable to connect with certain people in blazblue until i turned mine off. To do so you must go into network settings and choose manual, it will be in one of the options near the end.
  23. You're most welcome, Buraido dono !
  24. That's really awesome Fujiwara ! ill have to try getting it to work with a running j.S, too !! Great job. If you're interested in getting fastfall to work on other characters, remember that the AD j.PD is not the rule but the exception. The target fastfall is just AD j.D straight, but it's not always possible (like against Johnny). Again, good stuffs !
