You can't really compare them this way though. Tier List Ranking does not equal Tier List Ranking. In other words, the gap between each char is a lot smaller than it was in CS, and Rachel actually has good and even matchups in CS2. She probably just has a tiny bit less than everyone else. Btw if you're interested, 2 older tier lists for the sake of comparison (the 2nd one is also in the same link in post #43). Notable chars would be Bang and Lambda who both climbed the tiers a lot, and Hazama who was A+ then A- and who is now back to A+. I've heard that Arcadia likes to base their lists entirely on tournament results, that would explain the sudden rise of Bang and Lambda (both qualified for SBO several times and placing high) and the fall of Rachel (hasn't won a major tournament since release I believe & was not qualified for SBO at all).

No, I don't think you understood what I was saying. On crouching Noel, Litchi, Hazama and Rachel you have to delay j.A after a blocked 5B 2D jc. Since you have to delay the j.A in order to hit them, you can as well use j.B because you have to delay it for about the same time as j.A (but it nets you better damage if it hits). So on these chars the startup is virtually the same.

Against these chars I believe it's better to use j.B j.A instead of the way around. Since you have to delay it anyway, you can as well take the starter with the better proration. If you're on point, you can try to hitconfirm from j.B alone, and if they block, go for a fuzzy guard (so 5B2D jc delay j.B (all blocked) djc j.B j.A j.C). It's pretty hard to confirm this correctly though. Speaking of j.B overhead, on Tager and Hakumen you can use 5B2D jc j.B j.C as an instant overhead string. It hits them perfectly even when they are crouching and is only 1f slower than j.A j.B, but has much better proration (for example, her BnB corner combo does about 2k with j.A j.B starter and about 2.5k with j.B j.C starter). I think it might work on Bang and Ragna too but I didn't test it yet.

Make her block something so her pumpkin disappears. As soon as you have a pumpkin out yourself, rtsd as soon as possible so she can't make your pumpkin disappear. Poles are great here because you can punish summon and lobelias on reaction, get a free pumpkin summon and proceed as said earlier. So make sure to spread them out well but always be aware what the enemy is doing. When you got her cornered, usual rape and watch out for cat chair. That's how I basically approach the matchup.

Rachel combos are fairly easy imo. Then again I never played any other character seriously. Makoto combos are hard to me though :S Especially the ridiculously late gatling window of 2C and having to hold the D button for a specific amount of time completely throw me off.

Ashura I believe can be baited with cat chair during frog oki. Knock him down, summon frog, (he neutral techs), run up 2C. If he does Ashura, 2C will guard it and hit him in his recovery together with the frog, which gives you enough time to go into a full combo. If he blocks 2C, the frog will keep you safe, and you at least took a primer and can still do mixups afterwards. And the slide is very unsafe if blocked (prepare for it if you know he likes to do it) unless he spaces it very well, and since he basically puts yourself right in front of you, you should always be in 5B range. Just make sure he can't rapid cancel it to fake you out and make you eat a counter hit.

Thing is though, Bang only has 12 nails and can only use D nails for a free approach. So he only gets max. 4 free approaches per round. Sometimes less because he also uses C nails for midscreen combos. If you can make him waste his nails stupidly that's a huge advantage for you already. I'd also say it's in Rachels favor 5.5-4.5, she has trouble dealing with his rushdown but once Rachel pins him down he's got the same problems. But Rachel has more and better approaches with pumpkin and does more damage overall. I think 6A is very good against all of his aerial attacks. Rachel's j.C might also work but I'm not sure about it. I'll try and post more impressions of this matchup when I get to play against Bang again.

Ah man that sucks. I suppose I'll still learn her a bit. Yup I'll do that. I just hate relearning combos for no reason and I was pretty blessed with Rachel in that regard. But she looks fun to play so whatever

Serious question: Can I pick up Makoto as a sub without having to relearn all her combos when CSE gets released?

Oh you're right. Theory fail. I actually agree with you here, but it's still an option (like if you have low wind, frog is the better choice). Also in some matchups frog is a lot stronger than pumpkin in neutral even midscreen (against Carl for example).

Don't think so. To get frog oki, you have to do 3C > BBL > 214A > sj8D (frog hits) > j2C(Lv3) > (frog meter starts filling now) > 236A > 3C > 214C > 3C > 214A At no point you have enough time to get both a pumpkin and a rod out. If you happen to have a rod near the opponent by chance, then it should work though (replace 236A with 214B).

3C > BBL > George > j.2C(Lv3) > you can end the combo with frog oki 3C > BBL > j.2C(Lv3) > George > you have to end the combo with pumpkin oki.

Well, as I said I knew it was possible from a CA but I can't believe it works from a Green Burst too since the proration is a lot worse. I'd really like to see a video of it starting from a Green Burst.

Hello Carl players, I got a question and was wondering if you could help me out. I recently had an argument with a friend where he said that Carl gets a legit (non-bluebeat) 1,4-1,6k combo from a green burst (!) that leads to the unblockable. I was under the impression that the proration of green bursts is so bad that you barely get 100dmg with Carl at most before the opponent can tech. Another player said he saw it when Carl did it to him. I had 1,6k combos from Carl being performed on me from a dead angle, but I can't believe you can do a similar thing from a green burst. Do you know of such a combo?
