  1. Yeah, that's why I got to thinking this. I know we've seen Justice vs Dizzy a little in the games (arcade mode quotes, etc) but never in story, so... Hmm, I must have missed this. So her Diva form actually transforms her into a Gear (and a Command-type at that) beyond just the physical resemblance to Justice? I had thought initially that she just used Gear cells as a power up of sorts, since we don't really know 'what' she technically is to begin with... That was something else I was thinking about, the range of the 'Commander Gear's song' since I thought the implication was always that Justice was able to control Gears world-wide from any location. But I guess since Solaria had only started singing recently she probably didn't get to test it or train her range. That along with that Dizzy's never 'used' it in the non-AU, and if she even knows how to or that she can is another question, I suppose. This was the main reason I had figured maybe Sin might not be one, but yeah I doubt there's any way we can know anything unless Daisuke throws us a bone. Ah well. I was hoping for Sin and Ky's Overture stories in case they might offer a glimpse into the extent of Sin's abilities and biology and/or info on Dizzy's activities since the timeskip, so I guess I'll be hanging in the wings for if they ever do get translated.
  2. To delurk and revive an old thread... The GGXtra manga: http://rallamajoop.lisa-rye.com/guiltygear/ (Unless you're looking to buy it for having-it's sake, I've not ever seen it on sale myself, as far as I can recall, though. The only GG mangas I've ever gotten my hands on are a handful of the probably very unofficial 4koma style books.) Can't help you on buying the novels though. Have you tried searching yahoo! Japan auctions or somesuch? Also, question that I might as well pose here as well: Were the rest of the Overture Materials stories ever translated? I'm specifically looking for Sin, Ky and Sol's (mostly Ky's). I saw that Raven's and That Man's were translated, but all the links on this post are dead now, so I'm not sure where else to look for them. EDIT: A couple other things: Is there ever any indication whether Commander-type Gears are able or unable to influence or control one-another? We know Dizzy is a Commander Gear, so assuming Sin is for sure her son, would that automatically make him a Commander-type as well (ie, is it hereditary), or is he only a normal human-type Gear? Thanks!
  3. Out of a random whim, decided to make a cosplay of this Kokonoe-cosplaying-Nine fanart for this Halloween. Will post pics when done. Probably.
  4. Aaaaand we've already got some Makoto cosplay: Thank god for spanx and nude pantyhose, eh girls
  5. Nitpick, nitpick. A gem from the shoot (as far as poses anyway): "So, how's your mom doing, Kokonoe?" Beatings ensue. (You can't see from this angle, but I have him by the collar ) EDIT: Also, there was a Teach Me, Miss Litchi! skit at Masq this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L12SB6sYdpU I saw the Ragna and Tao's costumes up close and was really impressed with their craftsmanship- the Arakune looks superb as well (they got the Best Craftmanship award for good reason). Ragna's Grimoire even lit up, and the Tao had accurate heel-less shoes.
  6. Since everyone should see it, there was a crazy-awesome Nu with a full-sized Murakumo unit at Otakon this year: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2656690/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2656691/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2658700/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2658701/ (Linking to her photos on coscom to be sure she gets the credit, because holywow was she awesome)
  7. Awww, that sucks Dx Around maybe like, quarter to 4 we decided it was too hot out, and we went to the Indoor Fountains to continue the shoot there. Maybe you'd come at that point...? Yeah, he is. Then again, if you can pull him off better, then I wouldn't be discouraged. Go the extra mile and all that. I'll toss a few Otakon pics up later, mad tired, just got home.
  8. Yeah, sure. I wouldn't worry about not having her guns, it's not a huge deal. You coming to the BB shoot? Saturday, 3 PM @ the Outdoor Fountains. I'll be in Kokonoe, come say hi
  9. I assume for Otakon since you're in Maryland... Depends on what materials you have access to. If you have time to get, cut, seal and paint some pink insulation foam, I'd go with that. Wood would probably take longer and cardboard layering would DEFINITELY take longer.
  10. Coscom has a good Blazblue thread that I frequent, so if you're looking for help there's been some 'kune discussion on there already that might help you get some ideas: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=173789 Search Thread for his name to see what's been said already.
  11. Ha, my school only allows 2 absences a semester, so yeah, I can't just skip easily D: I'm more worried about getting there, especially money-wise. I would probably think about taking a bus but... I've never been anywhere in Michigan and I have no idea how I'd get to the con center, no clue where it is in relation to Detroit's bus depot.
  12. Agh, people keep trying to drag me to go to Youma.... but it's during school and my workload at school is just so insane I have no idea if I'd be able to wing it, especially with classes 9-4 on both Monday and Friday :/ I might try to get down there, though, and if I do Kokonoe'll be there. On another note.. I think I've decided my next big costume will be or, as I've dubbed h until better known, Spoiler the Spoilator. Prolly gotta wait until better references come out, though. I'm gonna go insane on this one, lmao.
  13. I see it's been asked once before in Decemberish, but have the AC+ storymode portraits been actually ripped from the game yet? In particular I'm looking for Paracelsus, both normal and Moroha mode portraits. Screenshots would work too I guess, if anyone has 'em. Thanks in advance.
  14. Yeah, I'd go with cardboard or wood. Getting any 'real' knives will get you tossed out of a con, I know of no con that allows live steel (other than being sold in the dealer's room fully packaged up, in some cons). Depends which materials you're more comfortable working with. For wood, you'll need woodworking skills. If you want to go with cardboard/paperstock, look into a guy named Featherweight, he's a whizz prop maker that uses paper and cardboard and has great construction tutorials. Also keep in mind whether you want the knife to be able to fold up, as it does in the references. That knife the cosplayer has, actually, to me, looks like it's made from lionboard, a foamboard-like material that's used in Japan. It's essentially a brand of very versatile, thin, flexible, durable polyurethane foam board. Cosplay.com is gonna start selling it soon but they haven't yet, so a comparable polyurethane foam board would be your best bet for that.
  15. Here's a few more Hakumen shots I have: Sadly, there don't seem to be many battle-form Nu or Lambda's on Cure :c Makes me sad.
  16. A couple more assorted pics I have around: Also found this interesting, someone did a concept Terumi cosplay based on the silhouettes we had of the Six Heroes in I think Hakumen's ending: Also just saw this uploaded on Coscom: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2624748/ Nice Nirvana puppet there.
  17. Augh I know. Actually I don't think I had that shot of him with the Jin saved... /saves now Ah, kinda OT but I found one of his Sol pics I have saved: Also, on the topic of Hazama:
  18. Actually, the greatest Ragna I've ever seen is this guy, ZON: Second 2 pics are a cosplay of one of Ragna's concept sketches. (Yes, I'll admit, I'm totally into him. The guys get to ogle the scantily clad chicks, we get to ogle the muscles, so there. XD) I think he did a shot of that Bururaji or w/e it was Ragna with the tshirt. He also cosplays a mighty fine Sol, but I'm not sure I have any of those pics saved.
  19. Augh, I love that Mu's sculpted gems. I can only imagine how much of a pain they must have been to walk around/try not to sit on though... not to mention walking around on the hot LA pavement barefoot in that costume. I have a rather large amount of Blazblue cosplay photos saved from Cure, here's a particularly nice group shot I have: If anyone's interested I'll spam some of the others I have. EDIT: Actually, have a Valk, too:
  20. I was thinking of the possibility of the fishing line thing too for Makoto (almost did it for Kokonoe; twintails can be heavy...), but I couldn't decide on where to attach the fishing line where it wouldn't interfere with the ponytail. I didn't like the idea of attaching it to the wig either; that'd make it a nightmare to put on and store. Among a million other worries- the pull of the fishing line strangling me if I put it on the collar, for one. I can't imagine where the hell on Makoto's outfit you'd have the room to have a line tied to it, though. While you wouldn't have the problem of long hair getting in the way of the line, none of her outfit seems secure enough to me to tie it to. Maybe the back of her collar? With a stretch material like Makoto's top seems to be, that seems to me like it's asking for trouble (either in er, the area of pulling your top taut against your chest (unintended fetishfuel) or of the line not wanting to stay taut because the material is stretching and it has too much give to stay up...)
  21. /sssslides back in here... I see Jam showed off our shoot pics from ACen, so here have a few more Kokonoe pics: http://www.cosplay.com/costume/238429/ One of my faves in particular: On a slightly related note, christ I'm so behind on BB news it's pitiful but... the minute I saw Platinum my first thoughts were, in order: 1. I thought of Cure Peach cuz of all the cosplays I've seen of her >.> 2. The hoops cosplayers will have to jump through for those contacts 3. Her wig is basically just a blonde Klan Klang wig. lol cosplay on the brain. I'll wait to see what her color swaps are then think about cosplaying her. Her design is....interesting but the colors as-is make me wanna barf out my uterus. Way too moémoéblob. Maybe Torakaka, or if we get a better picture of Saya in her new Imperator digs... EDIT: Also on the note of Makoto's tail, I was just thinking about that cuz her NOL uniform is kinda tempting... I'm thinking that with that sort of weight you would need to have SOME kind of major harness action going on there. Which, considering how itty-bitty her fighting costume is....
  22. The main problem is...I don't live around here, lol. So I wouldn't be able to go to ACen at all if it were any later than it is, because I wouldn't have anywhere to live. It'd be kinda a hassle to fly back home in the east, then fly back a week or two later just for ACen. Ha, not surprised that they're selling Dizzy's shoes. Since she's been in Queen's Blade she'll be even more popular now. As if Cure isn't saturated enough with crappy fanservicey Dizzy's and Bridget's (I have a special kind of hatred for those who cosplay Bridget just because of the meme and have never picked up the game in their life.)
  23. Though, living literally in the Loop, I could all but walk to the con, then Man, so I confirmed today that my dorm kicks us out the Sunday of ACen, so either... I can't go at all Sunday, or I'll have to lug my suitcase to con for whatever time I spend there before I hop on the train to continue on to O'Hare. Almost certainly won't be able to cosplay :/ Shitsux. Though at least that means that my last final will be the preceding Thursday, so I'll be completely open for con Friday and Saturday (assuming the movers don't pull some lame shit like only taking our boxes Saturday).
  24. Oh, I know that, and eye color shooping is actually something I'm okay with/indifferent to; I'm one of those that can't wear contacts either so I'd shoop eyes if I had to prolly, I might for Kokonoe. But plasticizing skin bugs me. Haha, I don't follow cosplay idols. I find the entire concept a bit silly But that's just me.
  25. Yeh. Lots of cons get the 'move to a bigger venue!' complaint each year but in ACen's case, it looks like the kind of con that could use it. Granted, I was only there for the one Saturday last year but boy is that place crowded. I hate shoopfaces. Ugh. Removing severe blemishes is one thing, plasticizing yourself is completely another. That said, Japanese cosplay has some very different values in comparison to European/South American and especially American cosplay, so I suppose you can simply chalk it up to 'cultural differences'. In Japan, it's more about the ends of portraying the character than the means (how the costume is made/bought, shooping, etc). JUST BARELY 5'1"
