Maybe they touched up on the animated cutscenes for the current gen consoles? I dunno, does that happen often with ports a mere year and some change apart? I would have said that Library mode being added before I remembered that this is the JPN version and it always had that mode. Jury's still out whether or not the localized version will include it and I truly hope it is. EDIT: Now it hits me. Didn't EVERY single Distortion Drive get an Overdrive version and not just select ones? That could explain the added size along with the extra scenes that tie in the next game. Ah well then, that's good to know. Yeah I take a stab at the game whenever I possibly can but you know, I DO want BlazBlue to be popular. I've grown quite attached to the characters over the years (even the ones I loathe in their entirety) and I'd be remiss if I didn't say that for however much I get tired of the series, something always drags me back in.

Me three. Adds a bit more incentive to get the game. He does? Maybe more concentrated to the PS3 side since no 360 version came out for CP but increased overall? I am a bit skeptical. I know many people left due to lacking the PS3 console itself while others (correctly) guessed the Extend version will be made ready down the line so they didn't buy the vanilla. Course I don't have statistics on me so I cannot do more other than speculate...

You assume "cringe-worthy" is automatically negative when it's not in this case. Like I said, I am very much fond of them, especially the 3 I mentioned. Kinda like a "Oh gawd, they di...yeaah they did" sort of feeling. Yeah, I mean it's not like there's a magical mute button of yore that nullified all sound or the option to lower in-game voices to nil either...

That a good or a bad thing? I'm kinda fond of them. They're cringe-worthy and troperrific which is what Blazblue always felt like since the days of CT. I am especially fond of Kokonoe, Ragna and Mu's character specific ones . Though while on the subject, Relius' is the only one that's making my head scratch and I just can envision it. Then again I do not play Relius so that's probably why. However that Unlimited Character trophy makes me think we're back to CS: Extend version where we unlock them from the gallery. Or at least I hope so because I am not looking forward to Unlimited Mars again...

No more shitty DLC for Blazblue or gaming in general? If it is the former, then that is humanly possible provided you can get Mori to stop snorting people's tears and focus for more than 5 minutes. The latter on the other hand has about as much a success rate as someone attempting to freeze the Sun, it just ain't gonna happen. On the colors though, they're...honestly not so bad. Yeah they kinda suck and all, but it's not the worst thing I've seen pulled for CP. There is that weird mash-up of puke green-yellowish-brown-orange monstrosity that I see some players sporting as of recently. Could be worse is all I'm Saiyan.

Thank you all. It's about what I expected but it's still nice to have confirmation. So ultimately I am back to the same fork in the road: either I get the PS4 version to add more to my library for it and learn to use D-pad for the game or go for the PS3 version which has the stick I know will work but may not necessarily be the best performance on the system. If anyone is able to test this come launch day please post it here. Or wait...would asking ASW directly yield any sort of meaningful answer? Guess I could give it a shot... I appreciate the suggestion but unfortunately, my PS4 purchase has left me dry of funds for the time being until whenever Extend is localized. Nothing to do but wait it out now.

So a quick question regarding a bit of PS4 vs. PS3 hardware(?) I guess. So let's assume the PS4 ver. can potentially handle the netcode better (not saying it will be fact but indulge me) for BBCPEX and I want to only get that version rather than double-dipping, would the PS3 stick I have be compatible with the PS4 itself? I seem to recall someone at SONY claim that it is up to individual developers to work out the mechanics of it but I am hoping someone here can elaborate a bit on it as I've put in more effort to learn how to play on stick since P4AU and at the moment I cannot imagine myself playing BBCPEX on the PS4 controller (though without the game itself, I suppose I cannot make immediate judgement). Thanks in advance.

Well you never know, we might be in for a surprise. Although, if they were going to talk about any possible differences between the 2 versions (and or over the Xbox One) I'd imagine we'd have heard it by now. As it stands, in Japan at least, each version simply gets you one of 3 little keychains(?) in Celica, Noel or Mai. I'll say this much though, even on my terrible internet, the PS4 is a lot smoother and faster to load/process information than the PS3 for me. I dunno why but that's what it feels like. Come launch day, I guess we will see...

Well there hasn't been much news about it since the JPN release date (April 23rd) is set while the vague summer 2015 is left for North America (Europe still S.O.L unless a release schedule was revealed when I wasn't looking). Once it is released, there should be more active discussions happening.

No reason not to expect a digital release. CP: Extend is little more than a roster, balance and story update/expansion. CS: Extend was released digitally as was vanilla CP (I don't recall if CT and CS (1) ever made the digital cut) so it is a fair assumption to expect a digital release for this version too. Can't tell you much for the price though. It is supposed to be less expensive but that is for North America. Japan tends to have to pay more for..whatever reason.

No Haku-men and Tager either and at least one of them actually matters. Supposedly Tager is at his strongest iteration in this version. Never thought I'd see the day to be perfectly honest and I am OK with that.

I wouldn't say we're tsundere. "Tsundere" would imply we actually get to slap Mori/Team Blue around in comical fashion whenever something, inevitably, stupid goes down. EDIT: Oh crap, that was dark of me. My humblest of apologies.

Yes but have you guys seen the start-up for her Mars Chopper in that scene? Cor blimey, you could spot that coming for miles. The only reason it hit is because Tsubaki is blind and it must do something like 3K damage on its own since even as Izayoi, she's still crying out in pain. I'll say this much for Falan's BLUE Desire (song name): it's certainly an energetic little piece that makes me pumped for the game. I was rather lukewarm about it until today after watching the opening. Now I just want to play it ASAP. Hopefully the localization won't take too long and I can enjoy it on my shiny new PS4. Perhaps I'll get a permanent main for once in this game instead of bouncing around between Terumi>Mu-12>Azrael like some kind of indecisive gnat...

Kokonoe's Gravitons still have "recovery" (the period of time which it takes to re-stock). You just can't see it because it is a stock-type now. So her OD affecting their recovery rate should still apply. Think basically how Hazama's Drive was represented from CS to CP, until they changed it in CP: Extend. Also yeah that opening was great. It's like the animation has a budget this time (or at least, a bigger one). I quite liked it. Certainly the most active one of the lot.

Fair enough. I seem to forget that Japan marches to the beat of their own drum. Come 2015 popularity poll, I wouldn't be surprised if Henchmean Ninja D wins and subsequently gets his own manga spin-off. On a side note, it would also be of much higher quality than say Remix Heart #badumtish. No I am not serious. Aw come on, don't you like doing nothing but staring at a screen waiting for that 1 person to show up only to back out within seconds, forcing you to start the process all over again ? That aside, why would any game developer remove/not include this from their fighting game title? P4A had it, but then P4AU doesn't. The latter is mitigated with Training against another person but that doesn't help the initial wait. Unless including this option somehow messes with the network, I don't see the reason for its absence.

Pffft, I'm sorry, that made me laugh more than it should have. Though I'll still voice my surprise that she won at all. Has she always been so popular? You'd think characters like Rachel would snuff her outright. Or maybe it's because players are hoping Trinity gets more prominent if Platinum gets more attention? You're underestimating Mori. That sounds like something right up his alley along with snorting anyone's dissatisfied tears for sustenance. Well, what else is there for him to grab ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ? I have been wondering these days just what's in store for us come CP Extend. I mean, the modes with added bells and whistles is nice and all, but will that have any actual substance in the long run? It's worth remembering that fighting games are generally meant to be played with people and I must confess, I have not touched CP since P4AU. Not because I felt it was bad but because, after I had gone through everything, it just felt like there was no reason to continue. I still have it though since I am not entirely certain that CP Extend would be worth the investment as it is effectively just "filler" until we hit Blazblue Crisis Quantum.

Oh right I need to translate. I'm saying that they're terrible to the point of where Hakumen's CT, CS/E counters all shake their heads in disapproval.
-
It'll be like CT from all those years ago, when all I ever needed was to land 5D and 5C enough times to kill something (you'd be surprised how easy it was to land that D-counter against Ragnas who couldn't fathom that it could nullify their 5B). Oh wait, I can't do that anymore since CP Drive counters suck like the unpedicured toenails of an ancient Valkyrie. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think of CP2.0/Extend right now. Most of the stuff that interests me (like Celica, Lambda and Kagura) are utterly underwhelming while the select few dominate like it's going out of style. It leaves me in a very awkward position. I have no main and I must scream .
-
Oh shit, he's gone all Poison on us . I am not sure why we'd need custom rooms for Player Matches. But I suppose they need to give us options to spend all that in-game money on something (assuming this is what they intend to do). Ever since Extend, I found that after a while, there really is nothing left to spend it on.
-
Double doesn't really qualify under that criteria. Sure, a good portion of her normals are visually identical in animation to the rest of the cast's characters (minus the DLC ones like Squiggly, Big Band, Eliza etc.) but even then they have different properties. Her specials and BBs (Block Busters) are ALL her own flair. Weapon Master she ain't, that's for certain.
-
Oh dear. This will not end well... That sounds too conservative for Remix Heart. I counted fanservice from the very cover itself and it only gets more frequent/blatant from there. Although I find it curious they decided to add them to BBCP Extend now of all times. Not necessarily in playable form mind, but you know, it's "Celica can't fight so she's not playable, honest" Mori. But I suppose they need to give a status update on Mai at least and do it sooner rather than later so that when BB4 rolls in people won't go around asking "Who the fuck's that!?"
-
Well I was more asking than musing since I don't really ever play grapplers and I cannot recall myself ever looking at Tager and thinking "Hmm, I need a main where I look and am built like a fucking tank but can't hit anyone worth a damn". What, like Baiken's 4 "Sealing" Overdrives? Though cutting off specials is a...little bit impossible if only because we have so many of them on every character. How would you get Mai's 1 attack to seal which move on 1 character? How about 2? 5? 10?
-
You say that like it's a bad thing . I'm more intrigued by the prospect of Tager actually being GOOD. If his execution is not too high to do well with I think I'll be putting myself in grappler mode for BBCP Extend.
-
I suppose it was just me comparing it to the Teach Me Miss Litchi segments they keep giving us from previous installments, though I must confess that I do not know if they did that for CP again since I didn't even touch it. In any event, about the only wish I have of CP Extend is that it addresses/fixes the issues that vanilla CP had. Things like incorrect grammar I can let slide, but audio not matching the written dialogue, audio skips/spikes and the mistranslations (on the Tutorials of all things) are more problematic. I'm sure there's some other stuff I am forgetting, but those are the ones that always broke my immersion with the gameplay.
-
Well that's one way to expand on the content. One of the chief complaints in vanilla CP was that the newcomers (sans Izayoi) came out of nowhere and ultimately amounted to nothing unless your name was Azrael. Having separate tabs for gag reels is a blessing IMO. CP's gag ending were...not the best I've seen of the series. But when you mentioned "from Extend" do you mean BBCSE? Because that's a little detrimental since some of CP gag reels were just repeats of the previous ones. In all honesty though, after letting the news simmer for a bit I'm a bit more neutral for this disc re-release. On the one hand yes it does suck having to pay for another whole game which may or may not be getting a price reduction in the West and yes, I am rather weary of BB as a whole. But on the other, at least ASW is trying to give people more incentive to buy it with more content (even if it may not end up good). And you know, it's kind of a nice gesture that they're putting the game on 3 consoles altogether (with 2 being able to cross-play). I'm aware that people would rather we all be one big happy, volatile community but you know, there's nothing wrong with letting others in on the fun is there? Some people just don't like a given system y'know, even if they like the games on it. So, I think I will reserve my judgement until the coming months reveal more for it and I'll encourage everyone here (that hasn't already made up their minds of course) to do the same.
