  1. Parry loop was patched in fairly swift order if I recall proper. I remember reading up that Makoto was released. Next day I found out Parry Loop existed. Next day it was gone. But hey, good for you if you can hush those voices urging you to buy it. I've been having a hard time keeping them quiet . See this is the kind of thing that is keeping me away from buying Xrd right now. One is the lack of PS4. The other is this. I know or at least am 90% sure there is going to be an Xrd Extend somewhere down the line with more stuff to experiment with. The question is: do I bite the bullet and buy it now then pay again for the same game with a roster update? Or wait? Either one will eat away at something of me. The former will eat away at my wallet. The latter will eat away at my patience. It's because Capcom is a high-profile company. They're in the spotlight FAR more than ASW ever is. And with more exposure and eyes glued on you, it's a lot more pronounced when you do stupid shit with your games. In particular with Street Fighter, a franchise that many still hail at the paragon of fighting games. Trust me, if ASW had the kind of money, audience and exposure that Capcom has, people would be busting their chops just the same.
  2. Makoto (pre-CSII), Platinum and Terumi beg to differ. I do not recall Kagura's BS-o-meter so I am not including him, though I don't recall anyone banning him in tourneys. Calamity Trigger brosef. Most of us dreaded her back then even after we found out Rachel was more capable of tenderizing our rears harder. Still I understand your frustrations. I hoped to never see another day where Nu-13 was top dog again. But we shiv and burn or however that saying goes so let's grit out teeth and wait it out. Not like we got much choice anyway.
  3. As opposed to paying full price plus extra to get your ass pounded on by Kokonoe (CP 1.0) or any of the other top tiers? Let's face it, we have always paid top dollar for our masochism. It's just that this time we might be getting a little tired of it.
  4. Now that you mention it, that was a thing wasn't it? Honestly, it's been so long with CS Extend and my memory is hazy of its development and release, I just can't recall all the details. Guess we will see now how it goes.
  5. And with the full price reveal my interest in the game went from a nice 60% to -2,000%. Good shit ASW, good shit. You Astral'd me like a steamroller. The thought occurs though that this pricing might be for the PS4 version and its potential Limited Edition and the PS3 version will be cheaper. CS Extend LE was also full price IIRC so that's another thing to keep in mind. Of course, I am most likely wrong and this pricing is the real McCoy.
  6. Oh right my mistake, I seemed to have been too optimistic there. Here, I'll correct myself: 10~11 month delay from the JPN version for the NA. TBA 2016 or whenever Chronophantasma hits PC waters in EU. #MotherOfGod I can only imagine the amount of crazy this brings.
  7. Alright show of hands, who here is actually surprised that an Extend version CP is coming? What, nobody? Thought so. If anyone genuinely thought they wouldn't do this, then I suggest you go see an optometrist because this should have been seen coming a mile away. All the signs pointed to it, especially back with Mori's comment about how he wanted to move the series to the PS4. BBCPE is most likely his attempt at testing the waters before going all the way. That said, I share the sentiment to what ASW plans to add for BBCPE on the PS4/XBOne. Higher resolution is a given considering the PS4's capabilities (I dunno if XBOne is native 1080 or 720 though but it's a pretty powerful machine too is it not?) but something tells me that's not enough. New story content is most likely the Vita Beach stuff unless they're actually expanding (or "extending" *dodges shots*) the story itself. So yeah, color me mildly interested. April is pretty soon but leaves plenty of time for another balance change. Hopefully there's no unexplained 6~9 month delay for the localized version this time though.
  8. Video games in general have been on the decline (although it is slow) so it's not just Japan. There's people who theorize that we're slowly progressing to another crash like back in 1983. It's not entirely unjustified either as similar patterns are showing (multiple consoles, inflation of games being made etc.). If it comes to pass, I wonder which game will be the new E.T that ends up buried in the landfills of New Mexico...
  9. Hmm yes, it's not like the story mode was delayed 6 months from the original JPN version...oh wait, yes it was. Ah but surely the OST is readily available to anyone and everyone at a given time for a reasonable price...oh wait, no it isn't. If I sound too aggressively sarcastic, I apologize. I do not condone outright stealing/ripping content from the creators simply for the sake of not paying them. It's why I still bought that BBCP LE, even though it ultimately proved to be of poor quality (CD not working and the blu-ray disc being faulty). It's just, if you're not going to be reasonable with your product, then you give no incentive for your other customers to be patient. Although curiously, Xrd seems to be the exception. It's almost like they foresaw the delays happening and offered the English patch to the importers. I'm still surprised this actually happened.
  10. Yay! Godfather Sol is the best. Imagine the advice he'd give to Sin for his high school prom...
  11. Yuup, ASW being super fast in removing videos. At least this time they have a more valid reason (someone hacking their console) as opposed to tearing down videos of story mode and OST like they did with BB, even though the people that posted it bought the damn game.
  12. So some stores in Canada won't even stock Xrd? I talked with the EB Games people and most of them didn't even have clue it was coming out until they checked the database. Oh well, this is what I get for not being able to import. I suppose I'll just have to remain patient.
  13. Thinking about it, yeah it's a little weird. I mean, I don't recall a Gear with glowing red eyes. Most of the time they're gold-yellow with an animalistic slits.
  14. I can make an educated guess on that. Remember what Gears were originally intended to be before all this crazy world blowing-up business? Yup, to quote "they were intended to be the next step in human evolution". Now, it is doubtful Ky would go for a Gear conversion but perhaps he's gotten Gear powers through "natural" evolution? Most Gears are made artificially through magic so I guess there could be one that was born normally.
  15. Basically what I was trying to get at earlier. Not everyone has the ability to analyze and comprehend what the game is showing them. Turorials and challenges only teach you so far. For the former it can tell you how to do X and what it does, but it is likely a newer player will not understand the actual importance of something like Faultless Defense (and even further, Tension management) until they actually get into a match against another person. Challenges are a mixed bag I find. They can give you the idea of what combos into what, but it's a toss-up if they understand the implication that they should be memorizing them as opposed to just completing them. It's an even bigger toss-up whether or not they can pull it off against an opponent coming after them. Second this. This is probably THE single most important thing for fighting games and its players. Losing is frustrating. Even more so if you just got wrecked hard and it only becomes more vicious if you yourself do not understand why it happened or if the winner decides to get their kicks by insulting you (because let's be honest, no every player is the friendly sort). It is simply detrimental to you to be frustrated because then you'll keep making more mistakes when you normally wouldn't, losing more, getting more angry and it just spirals. Learning to deal with loses is the best thing you can do when starting out in any fighting game, regardless of how many of them you've played up to now. It's why I will periodically step out of my comfort zone and go get wrecked by someone super good online just to make sure I never get to a point where I think I am "hot shit" just because I beat some people.
  16. Well it's not exactly smart for anyone to just throw themselves at whatever opponent they find either. For instance, I'll fight anyone at least once or twice (generally speaking anyway). But I always make sure to check the online ID before actually fighting them. Chances are that if the person played thousands of matches, has a rank/level 2~3 times your own and has a win streak going, then you're probably better off not fighting them if you don't feel your skills are up to snuff. After all, why go into a match knowing you will lose in a horrible fashion and ultimately learn nothing from the experience?
  17. Thanks a lot Tong. Much appreciated.
  18. Hello, is it possible to get this gif re-sized for dustloop? https://38.media.tumblr.com/d3fb2988932ca093205cb9a6a496ee6d/tumblr_nfh3psq40E1s0fo0zo1_500.gif
  19. See now this is where you are wrong my friend. Gabriel doesn't "fall" down to the ground. Oh no. He jumps from the Zepp capital (which is several thousand feet in the sky) and lands like a boss to personally congratulate Potemkin on his victory while simultaneously telling the laws of physics, gravity and common sense to go cry in a corner.
  20. Gabriel has always been a badass dude. In one of the side-materials he sent a group of would-be assassins flying through a building while still sitting down, filing his paperwork. And lest we forget, this IS the man who successfully took over Zepp in a revolutionary reform. He's also got a mean 'stache. And we all know that in anime, mustached men are badass by default.
  21. Your brain tends to degrade after a long amount of time. Even if you are an ageless, borderline immortal, killing machine who can turn into a flaming dragon. This is actually one of the popular depictions of characters with exceedingly long age. The brain can only store up so much information before it starts replacing the old with the new. Anger and revenge may also have driven him to the point of forsaking his past incarnation as Frederick and in order to distance himself from that past, basically rebuilt his demeanor and personality to the opposite. I second this.
  22. I'm just surprised that Capcom is able to count past 4 without adding another word to the already bloated title . But that's beside the point. I think I'll wait out the storm. I wasn't able to secure a PS4 for Xrd in time so it'll be quite a while before I can play the game. At least this way it lets people find out whatever problems the game might have and I can take that into account in preparation.
  23. I had something similar happen WAY back in the first Midnight Carnival. Got to VS. CPU, pick Dizzy vs. I-no. Make them both Gold version. Round Start and use (close) 5S, then watch the game crash faster than a F1 race car with an exploded tire. I dunno if it was my copy of the game or simply the age (had it for 3 years) but that's what ended up happening when I played it.
  24. It might be the coding. Or it might be an odd case that Lobbies are more "private" than Ranked. I don't know the technical side but if I had to guess, Lobbies basically connect you in a singular room and cabinet. Ranked is kinda like you and the opponent flinging darts at each other from across the street hence the delay. Of course, I could be entirely wrong here.
