  1. You better stream it and make sure the notice is up on the site's calendar.
  2. Yeah, I'm going to have to give up going this month. Maybe next month. I'll be watching, though.
  3. They start when they start - Venue opens around 12, people take a while to get set up and stuff. It usually runs all day, from what I've heard.
  4. Star or SD is fine for short Awwww. ALso: Good mai advice. I'm trying to learn Vice first, but Mai seems to have enough to her normals tht I might want to work on her, too.
  5. @Sanoshi: Great table! We do need leaders, but I want to warn against using leaders as an excuse for every member in this community to not examine their attitudes. I said this in the new year's thread - we need to grow up a little, at least at all measures of center. I'm certainly up for being a leader. I'm pretty good at organizing others and making them feel welcome and involved, and all that leadership stuff I've done in life so far. I've certainly the equipment to do things locally myself, even if I'm rather detached from my local scene (plays mahvel, hates BB, if they play GG they certainly don't want me around) I'm going to be coming up with ways to bring in NEW people and casuals in my own area. I've been pretty supportive so far, and I'm liking the results I've gotten just for BlazBlue and Guilty Gear, so I'm all for stepping up because I like being involved in the community so far. That being said, I have no patience for foolishness. I tend to prefer mature gamers, so I don't put up with bullshit. If anyone is in NYC or LI, might want to find me if other people or places are giving you a sour taste.
  6. Look way back in the thread, You might see some beginning info posted as I started posting. We should (try to) play. Also - tune into finestKO - watch closely how your characters are played. Check out SRK guides, too.
  7. As much as I think GvG is hype - get more GG players.
  8. I'm the only one that plays this game out here. (also - I think they are worried about looking bad) that's true, though - Carpooling helps, but the problem is coordinating people for that day-off.
  9. Hey guys! What can I do with tatami FRC like so? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm1eltN2MBM Characters end up too high, I often miss the j.D, what should I change?
  10. It's not just that, man. There are other expenses and they are legit. For me to go to Next Level, I have to drive myself out to a train station ($20 gas that day), take $25-30 one way ticket out to penn station, then take a metro line to Brooklyn, from there I walk a few blocks to the arcade. There's the Venue fee, and any tourney fees I take on. That's easily over 100 bucks. Twice a year that's anywhere's from $150 to $250 just to have two sessions. Not even for majors. Local anime con is 44 bucks for three days. Gas is 20 each day I go. Tourneys are free. (this is why I think we should structure majors like a convention) The train is what's killing me. I could drive, but finding parking would be a disaster. If we could somehow hold majors and lead up to majors in a way that contains costs for players, the rest is time and motivation.
  11. It IS the last thing. This is why it's up in the air. :P That doesn't mean that I'm not trying extra hard to do everything else.
  12. I think that, when you consider the legit reasons people don't go to tournaments, We'll have to find some way to structure how our tourneys are structured and run in order to make sure they are financed and people want to come out, DO come out, and want to come back again. There's lots you can do with a large event (even bring in vendors and have them hock wares in a salesroom), but for small events, it really requires attitude and passion. Without those no one is moving an inch.
  13. Between this thread and mine, I'm doing my thing tomorrow. I'll show you all!
  14. Drive? In the city? That's not funny, man. Even though my fucking house is foreclosing and I'm fraid of being homeless I'm still going to try to make it out for the 28th, so don't give up on the event, Because I definitely want to do this and show the community even a noob can go to NYC and participate in the community.
  15. Thanks for writing all this, man. I'm glad to see I'm not alone with some of these ideas. I'm glad you fleshed out a lot of what needs to go into an event. TWO THINGS Y'ALL NEED TO DO: 1. Get a better attitude. 2. SUCK IT UP AND GO PLAY WITH OTHERS OFFLINE. I think it's time for us to show we can do our own event, and it's going to take money. That means players need to step it up - there's just no avoiding it.
  16. Do you live at Penn Station? That'd be handy.
  17. It's not just the lag/netcode. The game lacks rooms, which is a big thing for netplay and for streaming this hype game, and I think it doesn't record who you actually played in recordings. The netplay is not feature complete - this gets in the way of me streaming - which makes it hard to develop and maintain a community across distance. Yeah.
  18. I have not been playing this game lately. For several reasons. KOF has to get the treatment I'm trying to give BlazBlue (Hermit for two weeks in training mode like I've been seeing you guys do), but when you throw in the may local scene doesn't play it (MAHVEL BABEH!) and the netplay is bad, I have no incentive to want to play it. Which is a shame - I think I'd benefit from having more people my own level to play, but dayum.
  19. Holy shit that's expensive. Spirit juice - buy contractor stuff. It's far , Far FAR FAR cheaper than retail. You can get lots more of it for a fraction of the price.
  20. You should have mentioned to do this in corner. 6D sends them across the screen, and this is CS2 Challenge 9 or 10, I think. I can't get them to stop teching after I get on the stick. I also have a hard time connecting after hitting d and starting 6C(2). They tech and it resets.
  21. What opener? 5B?
  22. I've tried piecing things together myself on paper, carrying it around and looking at it and sitting down and trying it, but it's not working. I'm really tired of not knowing what to practice in practice. There's just so much Litchi can go into from stuff but I haven't mastered a single combo yet and it's been years since I've started playing this character. I go from thinking I haven't remembered anything to thinking I physically can't do it. This is bad. I'm not keeping pace with anyone else. This is very bad. I'm not sure what to practice anymore. After failing to master one combo over 5 months on two consoles...there's only so many times I stare at myself doing the same thing over and over and not understanding what's wrong.
  23. Good on you guys. Make sure people take the game as it is and get hype and stay hype. Part of this might require you to bring shit, but so be it. Just make sure whatever's in your way of keeping your stuff safe is taken care of. People LOVE the guy who brings a console, and when it's you, you get to decide what it's for.
  24. Ummm hi. ANYWAYS, Working on setting up an event. I gotta see what's going on in the next two weeks.
