I'm worried about that too... GG has been around forever, and it seems like everyone but me knows how to play it. I'm worried I'm gonna get my ass kicked when I get on the first day.
-
I really didn't believe people about this, and then I played Romey today... fuck. Man, those overheads were projected a mile away, I block... and netopurei says no. I also got some of the weirdest fucking moves to come out when I was trying to hitconfirm into a corner combo.
-
You can!? ... Shit. I've got to try that. I didn't even know CS1 existed until CS2 came out. I was still playing Calamity Trigger... woops. Hahaha, I'm going to try that. Naw, see jourdal's comment about 5D>214C

The corner carry with 214A is fantastic though, and IMO they are fun to do. The spacing and adjustment with it is a huge issue, but if they decide to keep it, they'll probably attempt to fix that (and fuck 198457398578239542 things up in the process). I never even use 236C anymore. I always use j.236C instead. I'm trying to learn to TK it, but I can't seem to do it well.

It's funny you mention that. I discovered just how /easy/ it is to tag someone with 5D on their approach, but you really can't do shit afterwards unless you use heat and are close to the corner.

I thought that's what Ice Car D was for *Kappa*

The only trollish comment there was the "totally would". Generally, when I ask questions I'm not trolling. I was talking about IAD > crossover j.2C. I'm aware a plain crossup would be easy to combo off of, but that wasn't what I was having issues with. It was after the IAD. I tried sekkajin and not only was I too far, I was facing the wrong way. I tried dash and 5B(2) but that's a dropped combo. I'll try just doing one hit of 5B and see what I can come up with off that if it will link. I'ma give that a shot. Thanks. Yeah the wallbounce thing is definitely great, but I still feel he's overall weaker than he was in CS2. Honestly the air normals are what bother me most. That and 2D. I also think something should be done about 6A. I'd like to get decent combos of it without heat. It's pretty unreactable, but I'd trade it being a little slower to getting more combos off of it. Jin was supposed to be a heat-based character, but it kinda seems like they've sidelined that a bit.

Where IS your PS3 anyhow? I've never seen you play on your own account online.
-
Totally would Really? Want do you combo with after landing a crossover j.B or j.2C? Admittedly I've never tried crossover j.B, but with j.2C he still seems to be facing the other way when I land. I can understand him not putting out a crapton of damage if all of his tools (of which he has many) were fantastic, but nerfing his moves and midscreen damage doesn't help balance him IMO

Playing Ragna? 5B/j.C -> profit. -
Right, but we're talking about the fact that j.D crossup itself is unsafe if blocked. Pretty sure we're all aware of the j.236D feint, but if you want to actually crossover you can use j.2C or j.D. j.D is the easiest to combo with after, whereas with j.2C I believe Jin still doesn't turn around fast enough so he's facing the wrong way. TL;DR: Jin, y u no S or A tier?
-
Lol, I'm the one who posted that. I generally do Ice Car away on reaction as a way of trying to get out, but it CAN be punished. I find that Ice Car D is the best version to use because it's faster and goes across the whole screen leaving you a lot of space to recover. However, if you're counterhit out of it you just wasted 25 heat. j.236D will work if you're really close, but because of the turnaround problem it more often than not results in you missing them with all 3 swords and just floating there wonkily while the opponent decides which starter they want for their free combo. *extensively tested this because I thought the turnaround bullshit was just that... bullshit.*

This. I've said time and time again that online play isn't useless. It's true that offline is infinitely better, but you can get better by playing online. If you truly want to be good at a tournament level, I would say it's ignorant to completely disregard online unless you have an offline scene that plays more than twice a week. Is that a Star Driver avatar I spy there?

Lord Knight's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY thread (EX edition)

That was actually an accident (Thanks online!) because I double-tap buttons sometimes to ensure the input goes through. Sekkajin requires 4 consecutive C inputs within a certain period of time. The j.2C and j.C count, and if I double-tap one or both, then it only takes one more press of C to cause Sekkajin. ~_~ It happens to me a lot online, and it's annoying as fuck. Yeah, I'm not too focused on mixup. I occasionally go for crossover j.D if I think it'll work, but it's unsafe as fuck on block, and because my character hasn't turned around, I can't special cancel into j.236X (I theoretically can, but the swords won't go the right way and it will let the opponent out of blockstun). Something I've seen other people do and want to practice to get better at is going for max range 5C > IAD > j.236D for ambiguous mixup. I fail at the IAD though, which is why I need to practice it. Happen to have any other ideas for mixup? I realize you don't play Jin, but I imagine someone's pulled something on you that's worked and notable. -
In all seriousness, you all should find rides to more tournaments.
-
Well, as soon as a couple months can be. :P But I'll definitely be showing up after I move.
-
You can, in-fact level up using netplay. But keep in mind winning or losing means nothing over netplay because blocking and reaction times are shit. But you can get matchup experience and get better at hitconfirming. That will go a long way in improving.

I'm fairly certain that half of the Florida scene is made up of trolls.

Did you just say arcade version of BlazBlue? Meaning a cab? I would totally play the shit out of that once I get there. BlazBlue is really my first introduction to the fighting game genre. I played other fighters before it, but I didn't really learn how to play fighters until I decided to take BB seriously. I want to learn other games, but BB will definitely be my most-played for a long while. Do there happen to be any Chipp or Ky players in your scene? I really want to learn Chipp, but I'd also love to pick up Ky. I've read about the GG game mechanics and I have older versions of the game (but no CRTs so no playing for me ). I feel it would be best to learn from other people with experience playing the game though; with BlazBlue, I didn't really start getting better until I played good players and asked for advice. I'd also like to pick up Melty. The game has always looked fun, but I've never played it. I also own Arcana Heart 3 but I'm terrible at it and don't really understand the game mechanics.

Lol, I really enjoy driving, and Cali seems to have (respectively) larger scenes than Florida does. That in combination with the fact that I'll be stuck in the desert during the week makes me more than willing to drive all over the fucking place on the weekends. I'm super hyped to be moving to Cali because of all the shit to do there, and the last 2 summers I was out there for my internships I took trips to SF and checked out the other areas of Cali as well. I'm moving because I'm graduating and have a job lined up at Edwards. Thankfully the end of school means the end of "fuck you" assignments where I have shit planned and school decides otherwise. That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm not a big drinker, but that generally doesn't stop me from having fun with others who are. :P

CEO 2012 Fighting Game Championships Orlando, FL June 15-17 2012
Jyosua replied to CEO Jebailey's topic in Archive
Sounds like a plan to me. I'm hyped for this. It's the same weekend as MetroCon so I thought I couldn't go, but since MetroCon has been shit the past couple years, I'd be totally willing to skip a day (maybe two if it's bad enough!) to go to CEO instead. I also want an opportunity to play casuals in person with some top-tier players. Maybe they can give me some advice. XD BB GONNA BE THE HYPEST SHIT AT CEO! By the way, I have a stream setup. Should I bring it or no? I figure the tournament itself will probably already have someone to stream it, but we could get some pretty hype casuals on stream for the BB crowd who can only stream monster. -
Yeah, clearly ya gotta learn to play the game! *troll* Seriously though, just practice. You'll stop dropping combos.
