  1. I know Arcana was in there on one of the setups. KoF was on multiple setups. The real question is, does NL have SC5? D:
  2. Welcome to the world of bad phoenix wright references.
  3. Well since this got bumped, whatever, might as well have my name added. I doubt I'm going anywhere for a while. PSN: Doc_Orona Location: New York Open to Requests: Yes
  4. Yoooo, I don't normally stalk this section of DL, but this is legit~ Thank you~ *sets as background* :3
  5. How to not care and then care?
  6. JP commentary archive: 1) http://www.ustream.tv/channel/godsgarden/videos -- Full GODSGARDEN stream 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44aic4xZH8s&list=UUZ1lN1RdAzGk0ZQ6EoylZyQ&feature=plcp -- pktazn uploaded strictly matches I believe (and gave player names in video descriptions), there's roughly 30 videos for GodsGarden as shown in the playlist at the bottom of the screen. ENG commentary archive: 1) In St1ckbug's hard drive ;-;
  7. You knew I was going to tell you how my trip to NL was, why would you blow up the thread just because the stream was bad? As you knew and said, GODSGARDEN was the same day, and was started 12 hours earlier, so quite a few TSB veterans were MIA and it should've been expected. So I'll start with the bad -- the ONLY downside to that trip was the lack in CS2 setups. About half of the setups there (I guess ~6 is a good number to guess) had BB on the hard drive, but it wasn't updated to CS2. I don't know how that even happens, but it made it very awkward when you have 10-15 guys there ready to play and only two setups, one of which was entirely dedicated to the TSB brackets. So basically, we only had one setup for casuals. That was bad. The good -- EVERYONE was approachable, everyone was in a positive frame of mind, everybody was down to play, and nobody heckled anyone. I shit you not when I say that me and a Mu player were probably the most free things in the entire BB bracket. Zero problems for either of us (other than getting bodied of course). We didn't get heckled, we didn't get booed out of the arcade, etc etc. I don't know WHAT happened on the stream, but I don't think any of the commentators were playing BB. I know Min wasn't, I don't know about the other guest commentators (I wasn't keeping my eye on the table). I know I spent most of my time speaking to new blood and non-commentators that were actually playing BB, and they were legit. tl;dr -- It wasn't a negative experience, it definitely wasn't the best experience either, but it was damn well worth going out for. Off-topic: Is Dai posting the tourney results by any chance?
  8. +respect. Can't wait to see it uploaded so I can catch everything that happened after ladies' bracket.
  9. Shoutouts to Dai and Min for hosting today. Looking forward to seeing Dai play Extend next month xD
  10. Damn I wanna see this.... *prays for an archive to watch*
  11. Gonna try this once more since I got no answer the first time around.
  12. Annnnnnd, I have no work on the 28th, I'm in dis. :hype: So, first time I'm coming out to NL to play, and since I'm new to this whole thing, I have a slew of stupid questions. *looks at ps3 + ps3 pad* Well damn. Ok so I have a 360 pad I can sorta try to play with, is that good or do I have to use a stick? Can bring a ps3, but I lack ethernet cables and a copy of GEXVS. Dunno if that'd be any help or not. Can bring my PC laptop, but again, don't have any copy of MB, so I doubt it'd be any help.
  13. @EVO deal: I heard AnimEVO wutwut. I second that shit. I understand that breaking away might seem like a sign of defeat, but I fail to see how being in EVO makes or breaks a game's community (which is what matters if I'm not mistaken). I understand EVO can bring some hype/new blood, but why should BB or GG not being in EVO discourage people from playing? I mean, here's my personal mental breakdown of the recent EVO 2012 news: >Be salty for like 2 hours. >Not give a fuck about EVO. >Go back to playing BB. >Wonder when the next TSB tourney is. I see nothing wrong with breaking off and having a different annual major that hosts players from all over the country. How this would be accomplished I'm completely clueless on, but I fail to see how not having the "EVO" tag would screw over the BB or GG communities in any way, shape, or form. ---------------------------------- @My personal attendance at tournies: I cringed watching the most recent NEC and I shit you not, I went through every single recorded BB match, including the 8v8. I'm mad at the fact I couldn't be down there with everyone, despite being new to the BB scene. Matter of fact, I actually was hoping to meet you in person in the near future and thanking you for all the time, work, and money that you put into holding the FG community down. Matter of fact, shoutouts to everyone that keeps the NY scene up and running. You know who you are. Either way, I'm even more mad that I fall under the poverty category. Given enough time I would actually like to help build/maintain the NY scene, but I just can't afford it or help in any way other than with my own attendance at local tournies. Maybe a major or two if I can keep my spending needs/wants in check.
  14. 2 months later, and I'm still bad. (Some have said I'm doing okay, but I'm not fully satisfied with my W/L ratio in a room most of the time) CS2 is not technically my first fighting game, but definitely the first fighting game that I've taken seriously. I don't know when, if ever, I'll be happy with my Noel performance, but the only reason I've gotten to where I am is because of the Noel mirror matches I've had online, the support/critique I get from Noel boards, the Noel combo videos on YouTube, and watching some Noel mains at a few of the more recent majors (i.e. SKD @ NEC; dsmoove @ SCR)
  15. I'm 95% sure it is. The one time I visited NL (granted it wasn't for long so I could be wrong), they held onto a form of my I.D. and had me sign in and write down the time I arrived. I know you sign out and pay the venue fee once you get your I.D. back to leave. So unless you need your I.D. to get food I imagine you can leave the arcade, get food, and come back without having to worry about any additional venue fee.
  16. Won't know if I can get there or not until the 15th. After that, it's a matter of freeing up my work schedule if I'm not given that day off. Regardless, I'm planning to be there.
  17. "Best match." Fuck it. I'm dropping Noel and picking up Hazama.
  18. Advice noted~ Ty~ I'll try that out, reason I kept up'ing to Hell is because you're able to play dirty as hell and as long as you can manage a simple BnB for 2k dmg for each hit confirm, you'll most likely win. The thing that I like about Hell mode is I get punished for being stupid OVER and OVER again. Although the main reason I got away with beating Tager repeatedly NOW is he seems to think his normals are faster than Noel's. I don't get it LOL. But so many of Noel's specials and drives are easily punishable. For example, I almost NEVER 3C against Hell Tager because I can't. He auto grabs me and I get thrown for 3k :< Even what I was exploiting is easily punishable. At one point in that stream, dunno the exact moment, I know it was at least 25minutes in, there was a round that I lost because-- Every time I 5C > 2D'd, he backdashed, then grabbed. So he did that to me 3 times in the same round (almost back-to-back, if I remember right) Yeah that was enough for me to realize "Okay, a good Tager player will destroy this strat. What else can I doez?" Thus, why I even posted that stream recording to begin with xD
  19. Not free to Hell-difficulty Tager A.I. anymore, though my 2D drive is still a bit dirty. Any thoughts on linking Noel's normals into 2D (just for Tager)? I know 5C > 2D is unsafe as hell but atm it's the best I've got. Oh and the use of d.6C as opposed to d.6D is because I got sick of that low ass kick missing sometimes on a bouncing target =| The damage difference is almost negligible from what I can tell (maybe 200 dmg less?). I haven't checked on the diff in Heat gain though. I probably should look into that xD
  20. *yawn* Long week. Really tired. Got like 4 days off for the next week. Let's see if I can actually learn something in this time frame. From what I can tell, biggest areas of improvement for me are in Blocking (as opposed to backward/air dashing for safety), Throw techs, and combo execution. Anything else I should add onto that list? Granted, this is a Tager fight but hopefully it serves as a point of reference for where I'm at now skill-wise.
  21. Yeah I saw the KoF tourney thread. Problem is .... frickin black friday. >Work 15 hours on Black Friday >Work 10am-4pm on Saturday >Pass out from exhaustion I might have gotten over it and came out to see anyway but BB is gonna be the first bracket, so by the time I get all the way to Brooklyn, it'll probably be long past over. I'll be lucky if I get back home soon enough to catch the remainder of that bracket on the stream (assuming there will still be a stream). Retail and it's inconsistent work scheduling can suck a dick, srsly. But yeah this is why I was asking about casuals. I'm curious who's a regular at NL, rather than who can go out of their way to make a once-a-month or once-every-other-month tourney. Even a bi-weekly basis works for me, personally. Trying to make it out there every week for me would be pushing it considering how ass my schedule usually is.
  22. Posting to figure out a few things. A) Does NL have regularly scheduled casuals for any game? I wanna come thru eventually and check out the NY scene but.... B) Judging by how frequently this thread gets posts, I'm assuming the NY scene is quiet. Please convince me I'm wrong, cause I refuse to take a train from L.I. just to see like 2-3 peeps on SF4 or MvC. And lastly.... C) Are there any other BB players in the area? Asking since BB is the only FG I have atm, though KoF will probably get picked up in a month or so. ( Fuck poverty man. =| )
  23. Okay so I am improving, not enough to where I want to upload another video just yet. But I do want to start learning these 2k+ combo's that are posted since significant damage is an area I'm still lacking in (mostly due to my inability to use drive without dropping a combo). Best I'm getting on average is 1-1.3k per combo and that's not enough =| So I look at the first midscreen combo that isn't against a crouching target and .... I can't do it? 2B seems to just create an inconvenient amount of distance between Noel and the target (in this case, Rachel, if that makes any difference), then 6A causes the final push for them to be too far away to continue the chain. Is there a dash cancel or something that I'm missing in that chain? (Side Note: Even 2B > 6A > 6C gets dropped QQ) Oh, also. Wondering if this is CS1 or CS2 Noel's frame data. It was linked to me by Dev but I don't remember where he said he got it from nor can I figure out how old this is. Just want to make sure I'm looking at relevant data. EDIT: I am an idiot, I should learn to start reading URL's. And for those that were curious, I was looking at it, wondering what I can use to invul my way out of an over-aggressive Tager, but that's a different issue altogether =_=;
  24. Noted. Thanks much. Gonna get back at this thread when I see sufficient improvement in my game.
