well, there are 60F per second, which means that you lose auto tension gain for 5 seconds, so it's bad, but i still wouldn't say "totally fucked". i don't think it means you gain 0 tension from hitting or being hit, for example. edit: wait is BB 30F/s ??? seriously?! edit2: giant math fail, way to stay up late, me.

well, might as well write out the rest of Mugen's properties: invul frames 1-26 0F cooldown attacks does 1.2 times more damage (no effect on untechable time) after using 9 stars' worth of specials/supers, gauge consumption rate triples Mugen ends upon using Shippuu max duration is 1079F after Mugen ends, automatic magatama gain is suspended for the following 600F

the "regular" is Kakyuu, the announcer, just fyi.

are you talking about the combo against valkenhayn? by the time he got to the 17th or 18th hit, there's nothing else that's worth doing except looping [5C xx Guren] until the opponent dies. at the least, it's harder to tech out of comparing to guren xx enma -> air combo.

in my experience, introduction areas are a waste of space for forums. on the other hand, if you're looking for people to meet up and play with, that's what Matchfinder is for. but no, don't post a self-introduction thread, not even in the General area. edit: btw, don't post threads in the Articles subforum unless you know what you're doing. "suggestions" and site-related questions go in this subforum, "Site Feedback and Suggestions".

thanks guys! Gabe: so i went to the UofT comp sci page, and on a whim, decided to read about the current "Profile" item, which is about someone there who won a research award. second paragraph in, it says: "Hertzmann is well-known in the field for his influential work linking three separate research areas within computer science – computer graphics, machine learning and computer vision. By focusing on the application of machine-learning techniques and Bayesian methods, he has resolved a wide range of computer graphics problems." ... i wonder who Sean is taking that class from lol. check out this vid, kinda interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pGH6-QY-sQ

i think the "sensei" honourific is only for people who teach something (with a few exceptions). I hadn't originally planned any sort of graduation celebration because my wedding was going to happen so soon after the graduation ceremony, but since it got cancelled, maybe I'll go out with my wife for dinner somewhere. I'm staying here for my PhD: I passed the PhD entrance exam/interview in February (before my Master's thesis defense! lol scheduling), sent in the necessary application forms, and am just waiting for them to send some stuff back to me.

various kinds of seaweed have been rumoured to help "ward" off radioactive isotopes of iodine because they have iodine (apparently?). my mom asked if i can get kelp around here, and if not should she send some to me lol. those are the only 2 i can remember off the top of my head, both of which were answered by several experts on Japanese news stations as neither being necessary, nor effective even were the radiation levels dangerously high. they were even saying that taking iodine pills without directions from your doctor may lead you to hurt yourself lol; i can't imagine a person normally needs large quantities of iodine in their body, so just popping iodine pills can't be that good for you.

you're right, i could've also moved it to the BB gameplay forum, but when i looked through your post, the way it came off sounded more like you were focusing on Potemkin. (on a second look at your first post, that's not true, but that's just how it looked the first time.)

KayEff: well, p.7 and 8 were faster than i thought, since they're mostly just tables and stuff that i've already translated before from GG mooks, so i'm already done. i appreciate the offer to help, though!

just for the record, i've never seen an "old" GG player. probably the oldest guys are the same people who've been getting into Tougeki every year or so, but even so, they're mostly in what, their late 20s? it's feasible that some of them look older than they are, though, due to chain smoking and heavy drinking lol. actually, the only "old" GG player i can think of is like, 0. idk how old he is, but he smokes so much, he looks like he's in his late 30s. on the other hand, when i look across to the parts of the arcades where they have 3S cabs and whatnot... THAT's where the old players play at lol. some of those guys are definitely in their late 30s, no question. well, that's just my experience, though. i'm not really sure what the age span is over in Kansai and Kyuushuu, although based on videos/pictures, they look fairly similar to the Kantou players.

it's not a big deal for me, personally. i'll still make my own translation, and we can compare if you want. edit: system05 and system06 translations emailed.

yeah you should definitely try compressing it, there's no reason for a 3:09 song + picture slideshow to be 64 MB large. even something low-tech like Windows Movie Maker could help bring the filesize down without hurting the quality too much, i think.

hey KayEff, thx for responding. re: counter hit stuff, i was reading the last page of the system scans (and also compared the explanation in my GG AC mook), and i think that's the right way to understand it. that said, though, i was still curious if there is an established term for in English. the thing is that, although context can help English readers distinguish between uses of the term "counter hit state" (on the one hand, this could be 被カウンターヒット状態, but on the other, it could refer to カウンターヒット), in certain cases it seems handy to have two different terms, just like in Japanese. like as you probably noticed in Arakune's frame data, he has the ability to dash-cancel several of his attacks on either hit or guard -- but this is subject to the condition that Arakune be "in counter-hittable state" (被カウンターヒット判定中), which is worth noting, especially since it's not mentioned in the current frame data. (and of course, it would read sort of strangely if we translated that as "on hit or guard, can be dash-cancelled while counter hit" lol.) anyways, not to get ahead of myself, but if there isn't a standard term in English, maybe we should make one up? my suggestions would be defining 被カウンターヒット状態 as either "counter-hittable state" or just "counter state", whereas カウンターヒット should just be "counter hit". edit: system04.jpg translation yet. partway done system05, right now.

if it's alright to ask, i was wondering how we distinguish between "nokezori" and "yarare" in English. The way it's written in the mook, nokezori appears to be used for referring to the animation of being in ground hitstun, and yarare is the "state" which is assigned to a character being hit (by any move, and regardless of whether they're grounded/aerial). I know what they literally translate to, of course, but I was curious about English conventions for the two terms. Actually, just out of curiosity, how does nokezori differ from "knockback"? well, since i'm already posting here, i was also curious how we distinguish between "hi-kaunta~hitto joutai" (被カウンターヒット状態) and "kaunta~hitto" in English. again, i think I understand how it's used in the mook, but I'm just not sure what conventions are used here.
