(This might have been better off posted in the New England/Brain Box Boston threads in matchmaking, but regardless) Part of the NE scene is going to be there, from what I've picked up of our group murmurings on FaceBook and elsewhere. Most of the New England scene is focused on Blazblue right now, but if you go to AB and hang around the gameroom or bring a P4A setup, you'll definitely get some games in. Are you going to be there all weekend? I can almost guarantee a few strong players will be there, and there's a small chance I'll try to go for Saturday.

Haha, I honestly didn't think you would remember me! I've considered opening up conversation with you for a while now, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to create an awkward situation where you'd say "who is this guy?". Maybe we can make a team at a Major again or something, I'm definitely a stronger FG player than I was a few years ago. She actually got nerfed hard? That's surprising, I thought she was always a consistently strong High/Mid character, and when the initial LM changelogs were posted I remembered people saying "this character is largely unchanged". Kind of a disappointment, really. Her Critical Heart was admittedly really dumb and could have used some tweaking, but it's sad to hear that her 'Level 3' or strongest attack got the damage cut. Hopefully it still has utility.

Is it still safe to say Konoha's changes are nonexistent?

http://eslaf.main.jp/index.html http://eslaf.blog136.fc2.com/ Main site/Version updated, with some of our translated work from the mizuumi wiki included in the new version 1.02! That's very cool and somewhat embarrassing, I feel the need to clean up some terminology into more proper English now. Also, I spoke to Freeさん, the developer, and I believe he's accepted my/our help in English translation for future versions!

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-OYnRTW_y7idkc4VjFkVE4wc3M&usp=drive_web Looks like there's a new Cecil patch in here now. Tweaks to his jumping normals in some fashion (j2B/j2C/j2D? Different normals, or just changes to his momentum or something?), and nerfs to meter gain, I believe? Edit: I'm being told that Cecil is now allowed to fastfall using j2B/C/D in exchange for half a bar of meter. It's cool, but kinda wondering why Cecil needs a buff like this...

[P4AU] Junpei Iori - Gameplay Discussion
OutlawVinegar replied to HoudiniJr100's topic in Junpei Iori
Been kind of waiting for someone to discuss this. This isn't directly Junpei-related, but I feel a 'good' Shadow character probably has all of what you mentioned within the current system, while a 'decent' Shadow character probably has 2 out of the 3. You might want to consider a fourth thing, which is just raw Damage. If you were to divvy it up as - Mixup - Full-screen punish - Super spam - DAMAGE It would probably go a long way towards figuring out why certain Shadow characters have gotten literally no footage. No Shadow Labrys (Ariadne), no Shadow Junpei, Shadow Yukari, Shadow Yukiko. There's a trickle of Shadow Mitsuru, Shadow Aigis, and Shadow Chie on top of the 3 you mentioned, probably because surprise surprise, the former 'Top 5' are still viable if you take away their Burst because they all could/still can do disgusting amounts of damage seemingly out of nowhere. It also doesn't help that characters who have a unique mechanic (Axe levels, runs, Fire levels/break) probably have limitations in place to make it harder to build their resource super-quick. I still want to see how many runs Shadow Junpei can theoretically get in a single Shadow Rage. Maybe someone should ask Xie to training mode it once or twice? -
Dengeki FIGHTING CLIMAX: Announced at TGS.
OutlawVinegar replied to InWithTheAshes's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Add in a 7th Dragon character (they all have canon names, even though it's a 'choose your class' system) and I'm in. -
Dengeki FIGHTING CLIMAX: Announced at TGS.
OutlawVinegar replied to InWithTheAshes's topic in Misc Fighter Central
This, with changes. Skimming Dengeki's list of works, the only series I would really want to see a representative from now would be s-CRY-ed. I'm not terribly hopeful, because most of the characters featured look to be from anime within the past 4-5 years. -
By all means! I intend on finishing Reviel's basic page this weekend and moving on to Caligula and others, so anything you can contribute is appreciated.

I do. I'm pretty certain I still have the pastebin document as well. http://pastebin.com/dqgg70p1 As said, I'll do it if no one else with more experience will.

So, I'm finally working on the Wiki for this again, after several months of absence. I'll attempt to provide updates once or twice a week and I'll be looking around for any videos, combos, and other information I can dig up. If anyone would be willing to help me with the Wiki by screencapping images, it would be incredibly helpful; I'm a total novice at image editing/video recording, so it would save a lot of time. I'll still do it if no one offers, but it'll be slow-going.

No. It's good, better than the average (imo better than Liz, Labrys, and Naoto, slightly better than Akihiko, Yukiko, and Aigis) but it's not one of the best in the game. Using P4A versions as examples, Narukami's does better damage, allows him to set up oki, is aerial enabled (and 4f in midair, making it one of the fastest air moves in the game), ground version is air unblockable, is Super cancelable to allow for a really stupid 50/50 (will I do Ziodyne/Cross Slash to punish your punish, or will we play the guessing game?), and oftentimes clashes with attacks if it doesn't beat them, allowing him to jA mash to avoid being punished hard. Off the top of my head, no other character's DP reasonably clashes with anything in actual gameplay, I've only seen Labrys/Shabrys/Aki do it in combo videos. Chie's is also aerial-enabled, does dumb Chie damage, can Fatal in Power Charge, Super-cancelable to let her combo midscreen with Power Charge > stuff or Meteors, and gives her a combo + Chie vortex in the corner. Mitsuru throws a box at you that gives her the stupidest 'Super/no Super' 50/50 in the game (Bufudyne beats jumps/frontal punishes, Myriad Arrows beats rolls to punish Bufudyne), aerial-enabled, essentially gives her about half-screen corner carry if she does CH DP> Bufu> B droit, and eats crossups, crossunders, and isn't punishable on block by Yukiko without taking considerable risk. Yosuke's... as Mango said, does half the damage of the average, is completely blockable, cannot be Super-canceled, cannot kill, and causes 'hard' knockdown that can't be converted into a combo except in very specific circumstances (people falling into the last few active frames of the trip). You know which other DPs can't be Super-canceled? Liz's, Naoto's, and Teddie's. Which other ones can't kill? Just Liz's. Being able to draw multiple similarities between one character's DP and Elizabeth's isn't a good thing. I think Yosuke's DP is pretty much fine as it is, tbh. It could be worse; Kanji's DP doesn't even get the opponent off of him half the time, and Labrys effectively doesn't have a reversal. But at the same time, I'd like for it to get one buff; either make it Super-cancelable, or allow it to kill. Preferably the latter, as I think all DPs should only be Super-cancelable on hit (not block).
-
Amongst other things, notice that she has HP regen while that Super is active. -HP Regen -Refills her Persona cards instantly -Refills ammo -Blue Orgia gauge lasts for quite some time, but seems 'hard-set', as her DP didn't take her out of Orgia and just caused her to Overheat in midair. While it doesn't seem like something you'd see every match, the conditions for activating it seem plausible; the only thing Aigis can't easily do 'on command' is get Persona-broken. She can burn off all her bullets with 236B and force Overheat with 22B. She also has excess meter pretty frequently (less so now than in P4A, but still). Looking forward to seeing the other hidden moves, eventually.

Just dropping in to point out the discussion is starting to get off-topic. Sure, hiding or revealing Kokonoe tech from other players is tangentially related to the topic at hand, but it doesn't closely relate to 'is she broken/should she be banned?'.

Hmm. You're right. The past two posts I've made in here have been very belligerent. I'll tone it down. Rather than come off as a brash and insulting again (a.k.a. fighting fire with fire), I'll be more clear. It's mind-boggling that you would say something as clueless as "Using events at the biggest tournament in the world is poor evidence of how good a player is". I'm not sure what kind of rebuttal I could give that would even match how obtuse a comment that is. It's "Pathetic?" If you can give examples of a better stage than EVO for the US to show they're capable of matching Japan, then I'm sure people would be willing to look around for evidence. Also feel free to point out how it's a 'poor example'. Pain and Colpevole weren't exactly 'free' in their matches, either. Not saying it directly doesn't mean you aren't saying it. "We aren't on Japan's level." "The best American players wouldn't have made Top 8 if Japan was 'really trying'." "Put Japan vs Anyone in a 5v5 and they'd win, and the video evidence where they lost doesn't count." If you were looking to make the point that "Japan has a better scene because of logistics", then you're beating a dead horse. If you're saying "The US is shit-tier in anime", it's debatable, because strong JP players still have to work for their wins when they're over here. I could very easily say the same to you, as far as personal discussions go. People who post in a fashion that's completely condescending rarely seem to recognize it as such, but I'm pretty certain you started off patronizing and flinging shit first. One of the commentators was DC, a Florida player who sometimes posts here on DL. Not sure on the other.

Thank you.

The whole discussion here (at least, going by the OP), is whether or not to ban Kokonoe in a tournament setting, because she has lopsided enough matchups against a large portion of the cast that they aren't tournament-viable if she is allowed. Hence, her existence in the game/allowance in tournaments can potentially hurt the longevity of the competitive BB scene because a large portion of the cast becomes 'unusable' against her. Saying 'She invalidates part of the cast, but only if they have to fight her' doesn't work as a counterpoint. That's exactly the problem! No one is discussing anything BUT that. It's not a system mechanic or glitch that's hurting the viability of the cast in competition (like macros or the throw bug in Garou), it's the particulars of one overpowered character and how strongly they might affect the health of the competitive scene. That said, you're right; people will be able to use whomever they want in tournament and keep a 'sub' around in case they face Kokonoe, but it's an inelegant solution. Character specialists will suffer for it, for one. People who don't have the time or incentive to learn subs will suffer for it as well. And it's less important, but people who want to get into a fighting game in the first place often are discouraged when they hear that the character they want to learn can't compete with the Top Tiers™ and they ought to learn a second/better character.

It doesn't. ITT, my pet peeve: forcing one's opinions on what a FG should be on other people. Either that, or failing entirely to read between the lines. Someone does RCs/OMCs/corpse beats? They're entitled to it; they won the match/gained the meter, so they can do as they please. I personally OMC Supers if they've already killed and I want to get the animations for them over with. Someone is dodging you? Sometimes there are actual reasons ("I don't enjoy fighting this character", "the lag bothers me enough to affect my game", "I want to focus on a different matchup today", "I don't feel like I'm learning anything new/one of us is obviously much stronger than the other"). Sometimes they're someone who cares a lot about their PSR/e-cred and doesn't want to lose, etc. Just move on. Your opponent keeps on switching characters? This isn't tournament, it's netplay. If I've learned multiple characters well enough, I'm going to want to switch it up; it's the whole reason people learn subs in the first place. If my subs are bad, try looking at it as a sign of respect; the other person thinks you're good enough that they want to use you to learn a matchup, or just to see what cool stuff you might happen to know. If you really want to fight that guy's Relius rather than his Platinum, try messaging him? Invite them to a Player Room? It's probably going to be more productive than 40-odd pages of the same bellyaching.

Catherine, I can't help you. There was an excellent Cait & Sith from a ways back on the 'Select Your Bounce' YT channel. ...Here it is. The name is 'Jim Mech'. I don't know if Chaos Code has an active enough scene to find many matches of particular players overall, though. Jim Mech (C&S) vs DIS (Cthylla) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4mKG_QCqds pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlU7Q2ZnLT4 Jim Mech vs S.C.P. (Rui) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNZdHtClCDM

I was typing up a long response to this, with samples of proration and frame data, but then decided against it. Basically you're right. Right now Yosuke players are comboing 2C CH > AoA because it's the fastest route to damage, and the meter gain is probably better than just about any other option to boot.

As Big Ben said. Judging by the dates and what's written in the readme file, the other files are: Es Laf ver0.x: Previous versions of E's Laf, going from versions 0.24 to 0.63 Sabun 20140102/20140106: System files/data/etc for the upcoming Es Laf 2 Sisca sabun131207: A Sisca patch from early last December. Probably worth installing that one too, as it looks to contain some various frame data tweaks?

There was a patch? It's not listed on the main site at all as a 'version up'.

...Blazblue? -
The Narukami in that video is Yamashita, the (former) Kanji player. The Shadow Teddie is Moja/Mojya, one of the better Teddie players during P4A.
