Someone said there is. It feels fine to me. I hardly ever mess up execution. -

Nice info. I can't reay test all that right now but I'll take your word for it. What you said is true though that it doesn't seem to effect the game all that much and it's not an excuse to hate it. I agree that some things about AC etc are better but I like some new things in Xrd too. They are different games but both are good IMO -

I took some photos to prove tension pulse but I don't think I can post them on here from my phone. I'll show them later. Basically though, I took five steps forward with Faust and gained about 25% meter. Them I YRCed and took 5 steps forward again and only got 1/4th the amount from before (so about 6% meter) -

Some frcs could be used that way on whiff. In fact PO 6HS is an example. Now everyone can do those kinds of tricks. Also, YRC can be used in pressure strings in ways if you time things right. At a far enough distance with proper timing I can YRC pogo right before it connects and do a number of things after that if canceling from the right normals for example. I can see your argument but having experienced the system at high level play it still feels deep to me. Sure there are some option selects but GG always had some option selects with things like throws or slash back. And keep in mind it costs meter to YRC. That's less meter for damaging combos or FD etc. it's a shame you dislike the game based on initial impressions. My small initial gripes with te game disappeared over time and I just enjoy playing it. Having a huge thriving scene again also just makes the game more fun to play. If rather play Xrd with tons of comp then AC in a scene that began to get stale and sorta die down over the years. Either way, it certainly feels much closer to past games in the series compared to SFIV or Marvel 3. At least to me anyway. -

Then I have to say sorry Mike, but you are wrong about this one. Is spent hours in sparring mode and have seen tons of times where my rate of meter gain has changed based on my actions. Either for some reason it wasn't in the console build you played yet, was somehow disabled in options, or you just didn't have enough time to test it properly. -

Exactly, if you got read that hard then the Sol deserves the throw. Plenty of other ways to avoid a throw ( back dash, jab, reversal, use your own YRC to slow time and ?, etc) -

Forgive me if I don't know exactly what you mean by tension pulse but the game certainly DOES change rate of meter gain based on a lot of things. You gain meter slower after using RCs and stuff like that. I'm not sure if Mike Z is talking about something else or just somehow missed it but it's certainly in the game unless you mean something else (?) -

I'm honestly not sure. I beat him once before the tourney and thought he was good so I just asked him to team up and he was happy to. We got matched with the PO player randomly. -

This is correct. We lost to FAB team and got sent to losers. I OCVed a 4 man team in losers finals and then we lost to the sick 16 dan Ramlethal on FAB team in final match -

Most of the small nitpicks that you mentioned and things that Mike Z mentioned were things I also found a bit jarring during loketests and right after release, but as time went on I got used to all that stuff and it doesn’t bother me at all anymore. The bottme line is that you said you had fun and think of how much more fun you will have once there is a large, competative scene to fight and you actually know what you are doing in the game! Good luck with Ishiwatari-san tomorrow. -

Oh man… this thread is just cringe-worthy. So much whining and baseless, wild assumptions and panic for no reason. How many times have I already re-asured you that Xrd is legit? The console version is not going to be any different than the arcade version as far as core gameplay goes (which is a good thing, and a balance patch is not necessary and would be too early at this point). I have been enjoying the hell out of this game since release and am still super hype about it and have so much fun playing it! The eventhubs article translation makes it sound worse than it is, or rather, people are just choosing to interpret it wrong, and same goes for the comments section on that page. The game has only really been simplified from an execution and barriers of entry stand point. The game still has all the depth of older games. These decisions were absolutely NECESSARY if you ever want to see the non-Japanese Guilty Gear scene become more than just the same 5 guys getting together at someone’s house to play every week or so. Look at how popular SF and Marvel became once they released versions that were “dumbed down”. The difference here is that Xrd is actually way LESS “dumbed down” than those by comparrison. I honestly don’t even see it as “dumbed down” but rather, just different. All the new system mechanics (except for Danger Time, which hardly effects the game and isn’t even THAT bad) are all great and work really well. With so many vids available online for people to watch of high level play, I honestly don’t see how anyone can honestly still think that this game is lacking depth or doesn’t play like past versions of the GG series. You still have all of your core system mechanics that have been around for the whole series. Most of the stuff that was removed was newer stuff added later on but it was replaced with new stuff that is also interesting and fun. You still have all of your buttons (so its not like marvel 3). The speed is basically the same and the difference is so slight that you won’t even notice it after a short time. The re-design to the RC system just adds a whole new layer of depth to the game because of all of the creative ways you can use meter now and all of the situations and mind-games that come with it. They will eventually put more returning favorites back in the game. Story reason restrictions? C’mon, do you really believe that is the REAL reason why many characters are not in the game? As stated in several interviews, there were multiple reasons why we have the characters in the game that we do at the moment. The bottom line is that the number of characters included are always going to be limited by development costs and time. Those are the 2 main things. TIME and MONEY! They will gradually put more characters in as time goes on. Do you HONESTLY think they will leave out Dizzy given how popular she is? They want more MONEY and they know if DEMAND is there for Dizzy then they will add her in eventually. Just stop worrying so damn much and be excited for the game! It’s a fanastic game and you all are going to play it and love it. If you really want this game to thrive, build up your local scenes, travel, advertise the game, hype it up. Anyone who thought Xrd was going to get more press attention than MK or Smash is living in a fantasy world. As it stands, Xrd still has the POTENTIAL to be the most popular Guilty Gear game to date, and a big determining factor is how much effort you all put into your scenes and how much you play the game. So many people in this thread are already writing the game off for stupid reasons. Do you want the game to die? Yes? Then continue being self-defeating and irrationally pessemstic. Do you want the game to thrive? Then get hype, feed that hype to others, and generate interest in your scene, and when the game drops, play the HELL out of it and build up your scene! Also, cross-console play and (very very likely) solid net-code is going to make even playing this online viable! Take it from someone who has been playing GG since GGX on the Dreamcast (probably longer than 99% of this thread). If you like any of the existing GG fighting games… YOU. WILL. LIKE. XRD. -

I've already mentioned this many times but the game is jut maybe slightly slower. It feels fine and I'm already used to it and don't mind it at all. Just watch vids and compare. The speed difference is extremely slight. -

Currently the highest ranked players (Machaboo and Nage) are 17 dan. I'm sure as time goes on the numbers will rise. The game is still fairly new. -

Also, was just checking stats. Nage is now ranked number 1 for risk rating overall with Machaboo on 2nd. Also I was checking Faust specific stats. I'm 2nd place for most wins with Faust at the moment and I'm ranked 8th best Faust for risk rating. While checking that list. I noticed machaboo is ranked 6th place for Faust risk rating! I didn't even know he had a Faust! I guess a top class player like him can just pick anyone and be good! -

I'm sure those of you who don't have your old main in Xrd will be ok. The game is really fun and I'm sure you all will find someone you enjoy using until your main eventually returns. If Faust wasn't in I would have tried Axl or I-no most likely. Once console version is out I may just play them as sub characters anyway just to help the local scene learn other matchups than Faust when playing with me. (As by then I'll have already moved back to Chicago) -

Oh, so I take back what I said. You cannot RC clashed moves that activate danger time. Both characters go to neutral though so you wouldn't get any advantage other than the time slow. Also, I had time to sit and study the Arc Revo Cup qual schedule today in detail. There are still 32 spots just like last year for +R but this time there are more preliminaries for each block and more blocks overlap in a shorter period of time overall. So, you really have to be strategic about how you approach things. You can either try to go to the tournament that falls on the day for the block finals every time, giving you more actual chances to qualify, but then it will be stacked with killers every time. On the other hand, you can try to go to an early qual in a block that is kind of not in a very populated area and have an easier time getting to the finals, but then you basically have to wait like 3 whole weeks until the block final, and you can't enter tournaments again until the block final is over, so you are sacrificing more chances to have an easier time getting to block finals. Block finals will also be brutal with 6 to 8 people competing in them! I think I will try to approach things kind of both ways. I plan to at least enter the local Gunma tournaments because they are near where I live and there will be less killers (someone good always shows up though lol) but otherwise I think I will try for block finals days when possible. Man, I am hype for this season! -

Great news! Now I probably won't even have to start playing Xrd again after leaving Japan! I honestly wasn't expecting a US release so quickly. I thought it would come out on Japan consoles a few months early but it seems they got their shit together. I would take the 15 characters thing with a grain of salt. Also, if it does end up just being Sin only, I am really confident we will get some DLC characters. I will probably just end up buying both PS3 and PS4 versions. I already have a PS3 so I might as well, and I plan to get a PS4 at some point so I might as well get Xrd for it. It just means having an extra setup for gatherings and stuff. I don't mind shelling out the money for 2 PS4 sticks so everyone can use them either. I drink away that money at Tokyo Rock Bars constantly anyway. Once I live back in the states I can go back to paying reasonable prices for beer again! -
