I couldn't get the last j.2C to connect -- Tager wound up *just* out of range. Maybe I was doing the j.C 9 j.A jump cancel too early, or maybe mashing into j.B j.2C too quickly.

I have access to BBCSEX nearby tonight; I also have a recording rig. Taking requests for specific tests/footages for tonight (7p-11p PST (3a-7a UTC)).

I was going to upload the video separated into matches (removing casuals), which is why I wanted the list first... if you need the video first to make that list, that puts us in a chicken-and-egg situation
-
Also, can anyone get me a list of GG matches (player name + character)? I can't tell who's playing and what's not tournament matches in the recordings.

Someone let AJ know I have his powered video splitter.

I don't mind running brackets. But apparently everyone else hates to and just assumes I do, too. EDIT: but I do hate tio['s ui].

Mostly good times, but super-sad no table space for GG until the gated community collectively kicked us all out. Xie, imma steal your danisen idea for norcal.

Tumbleweed Install. Probably be late, though.

For me personally, I feel a bit of nostalgia for how the GG community used to be in the past. I'm pretty sure other people likewise are disappointed in the current state of the GG scene in general, and not the tournament in particular. The first time is always painful. I tried to prepare as TO by "apprenticing" a few tournies, but nothing can really prepare you for taking the lead. Also, I think you're beating yourselves up a bit too much about how the tournies turned out. You are your own worst critic, and there's always a lot of shoulda-woulda-couldas. But there are two important points to remember when you're self-evaluating your directorship: 1) Very few players want to be TO; it takes time away from mashing practice -- the vast majority will gratefully defer to anyone who has had even basic experience as TO. 2) Worse things happen when the tournament is being run by someone who doesn't even want to. 3) The epitome of fuckups is an incident a few years ago where the assigned tournament director for the official GG tournament went AWOL to bet on [official] SF3:3S matches and at some point just went to his room, completely abandoning the (official) GG tournament. No one else has ever managed to fail this badly before or since (though Triple Threat comes pretty close...). (oh, did I say two? oh well) As SpiritJuice pointed out, TO-ship tends to be thankless. It's worth pointing out how the most vocal ones to thank you two are also fellow TOs Welcome to the ranks of TO-hood. :china:

Now that I'm finally home (waylaid first by Calico (Ghost Town), CA, then a mad fit of roadside naps, then a full day of work)... First off, kudos to the HI sisters for taking the initiative on organizing a GG tournament. In light of the sheer size of the brackets, the hall, general evo craziness, and first time running an evo side tourney, they did a fair good job and displayed inspiring perseverance to finish it right. Being TO is always hard, and even harder at large events like evo. A round of applause for them, I say. Every opportunity at organizing a tournament opens the doors to massive experience gain. The next one they run will in all likelihood be orders of magnitude better. And as they are now seasoned TOs who can fill the gap if needed, we are that much more likely to see another GG side tournament next year. Secondly, I'd like to express my nostalgia for the olden glory days of GG's peak years. The tournament's turnout shows GG is still going on strong, but it indubitably has seen better days. I'm genuinely impressed at how many people have maintained their edge in GG. Third, in a few days I'll probably hash through a post-mortem of the tourney and point out what worked well and what can be improved for future. Or at least what little I remember of it.

I suggest Gamecenter in San Mateo. It's an arcade modeled after Japanese ones, with environmental enhancements for console gaming tournament. I've looked at the place and the MacGuyver in me says Gamecenter lends itself very well to tournaments, arcade or console. I can take point on this if needed.
