  1. Specifically a Cathode Ray Tube with its 20 thousand volt vacuum-spanning electric field, or will a 23-in HDMI/DVI widescreen LCD monitor do?
  2. Perhaps a fine wind will gust up that day...
  3. My employer vehemently requested they not be so, thereby leaving me with lots of spare time now. Anything going on today/tmrw?
  4. Good to see SoCal GG/BB again after such a long hiatus. There now exists only two pictures of me with long hair, as I got my hair cut the following day :p. Must remember to obtain copies from Purrin... Most of Saturday was a blur due to sleep deprivation, but I vaguely recall shtkn, Stormlocke rooting for my roboky, Purrin with camera, Rin on recording, Xie floating around, and MikeZ doing Tager stuff. I arrived alone. I departed alone. The story of my life. lol - The DuoCali Tumbleweed
  5. Ill dolphin is ill. Boo at head cold.
  6. Chances are very good AC on cab will be there. It was there last year, and the arcade machine operators (On-Campus Entertainment) still have the same AC cab.
  7. Randomness: I'm visiting SoCal this weekend (22,23).
  8. sounds like I'm gonna have to deed/lease my tripod to someone...
  9. Is the 2v2 scheduled as: 2nd weekend of month 2 weeks after Singles 2 weeks before Singles ? The month of May contains 5 weekends.
  10. L.A. has four seasons, too: Sunny, Kinda Sunny, Extra Sunny, and On-Fire. All that rain is observational errors.
  11. Extrapolating from past experience, 20 entrants is the approximate maximum to finish in 5 hrs in 2/3 double elim. Beyond 20, we'll have to resort to either single-elim 2/3 (total time ~= 6*(2*entrants) minutes), or double-elim 1/1 (3*(3*entrants) minutes). Had we stuck to double-elim 2/3 throughout, approx running time would have been 6*(3*29) minutes = 522 min = 8.7 hrs. From a start time of 6:30pm, expected finish time would have been 3am. Results to be posted later. Effin' 4am.
  12. Someone PM me the results of the 2v2. I'm too lazy to pore through this thread.
  13. What, did Litchi hire a hitman to come out and club Rachel in the knee during ice-skating practice or something? *crickets* man, I'm old
  14. Videos from 1/30 ranbat are uploading as I post this. http://www.youtube.com/user/PhaethonH (as they are being uploaded) http://www.youtube.com/user/PhaethonH#p/c/8D9A9DB117AACCE2 (final destination)
  15. Not it. Busy with other stuff Mar 6.
  16. <Oracle> Will Hellmonkey ever care about BlazBlue? <Magic8Ball> IMPOSSIBLE
  17. Which shall be easily thwarted by a tray of nikuman. Tsk tsk.
  18. In 2007, Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core was an official tournament in Evo. The turnout for the GG finals were below expectation, partly because of the early morning scheduling, but mostly because most of the potential spectators were too busy either recovering from all-night GG sessions or still playing GG at that time. Or perhaps didn't know GG Finals were scheduled for the ass-crack dawn of morning. Point was, GG community was in the area, just not in the seats at the right time. Nonetheless, the Evo staff did not... does not... care about such details. All they saw and cared about were all the empty seats during GG Finals. They're paying for the space, they're paying for the seats, they're paying for the prize pots, they're paying for the video stream. And that was what they got. Very unimpressive. Consequently, GG was dropped from EVO 2008. The Guilty Gear (or rather, dustloop) community was, more or less, marginalized in the EVO context. Whereupon we (GG community in general, dustloop in particular) put together one hell of a side tournament during EVO 2008, one deserving of the catchphrase "Get Hype!". The only support from EVO was table space (which even then we had to fight for) -- we brought our own equipment, our own signs, our own tournament staff. In the end, we sufficiently impressed the EVO staff. Consequently, BBCT was brought in for EVO 2009. If not for our rally in 2008, BBCT (as "GG successor") very likely would not have appeared at EVO. And we would not have needed to rally in 2008 if people actually showed up to GG finals in 2007. We don't want a repeat of that. If BBCT becomes main, and even 25% of the seats are empty during its finals, guess what? BlazBlue (and its descendants) will be dropped from the 2011 lineup, like Guilty Gear was dropped from the 2008 lineup, because "people didn't care". It's far better for the BB community to put forward a solid showing at a later date than to flounder for attendance sooner. MB can put forth that critical mass of attendance, which retains the staying power of the GG/BB/MB meta-community. That may suck, but if you suffered through GG@EVO '07-'08 with us, you wouldn't be feeling as disappointed. We can still have a BBCS side tourney. If it turns out impressive, more brownie points for us the following year. If it flops, no skin off our backs, BB (backed by MB) would still retain its staying power for 2011. But if a BB main flops... kiss all of GG/BB/MB at Evo goodbye for 1 to 2 years.
  19. Going to L.A. tmrw. Oh, right. Yeah, I'm visiting SoCal for this weekend and the following two (i.e. all except 27-28).

  23. I might be caught up in something through/until the evening that day, though I will still try to make it on time. Anyone willing to be backup director, just in case?
  24. Another suitable followup to 3C 22]D[ is: IAD, j.2C (OTG) ~ Alle-Can, j.B, j.C, ... The early CS Carl is relying on this for the 2D loop, especially since 2C no longer has the untech time it did in CT. In CT, this combo is still valid, and has the added advantage of tightening up the "tech radius"... after the last j.C, if they tech, they end up right next to the middle of the clap bubble center. A forward-tech gets away from the ball but leads to an air reset trap (air gatling, j.214C -> 8]D[). The downside is the tight execution timing between j.2C~ACAN into j.B (short untech time).
