Not as well as I know Zidane's insides. I got up close and personal all weekend. Shoutouts later, still tired. See me trollin', see me feelin' myself.

To the folks talking about GG grabs: If your 4H/6H sucked, you could always OS with a better normal. Like, when using HOS, if I want to run up and grab someone, and I think they might try to jump away, I OS using 6S+HS. This way, if they jump, I get a 5S©, which is a million times better than whiffing a 6H. The fact that I have to explain this mechanic on Dustloop makes me very sad. =(

You can do it with either version of ID. D version grants much better damage since the P1 on it is 100%, compared to C's 70%.

5D(1) -> DC was -20 in CT, dunno if it's the same in CS. I don't remember it being so hard in CT, so they may have made the cancel window later, which would make it even worse in terms of recovery. Yeah, it can work if your opponent is too distracted, but generally, saavy players will try to IB the first hit of 5D most of the time, seeing as there's already a 12-frame gap between the first and second hit of the move. And yeah, anybody who has a reversal move that they were gonna do anyway is gonna fuck you over.

I think ground super has some invincibility, but it's still not a very good reversal. Midrange wolf dashes can be good, but they're mostly better for getting a quick whiff punish, rather than starting pressure. The high-low doesn't seem TOO bad, I guess dash -> cancel -> [w]5A is a pretty good low. Just dunno how fast it would actually be in a match. Don't exaggerate. He's certainly no Litchi or Bang. This characterization completely ignores how he folds under pressure; the character is so good offensively and has so much mobility because if you catch him blocking, he's in deep trouble. Also, command grab is only 6K+ damage with meter or in the corner. Try not to make things sound worse than they are.

The American companies are making some good cars now, though it still depends on your definition of what makes a good car. I have admittedly preferred Japanese models and some of the European. -

Vince, that sounds awesome, we'll definitely have to get up soon and record some stuff. I'm mostly thinking of combos though, I figured out some really cool Ragna stuff lately. I'd love to make a 'Sayounara CS1' vid for him. A new level of fail. -
I can tell pressure during wolf is legit. That shit can get really crazy.

Hrm, so it looks more like a santaku (3-option) to me. Something like this: 1. ID (beats 5D and 3D shifts, loses to 4D shift) 2. 5A (beats 5D shift, safe against 4D shift, loses to 3D shift) 3. 2A (beats 3D shift, safe against 4D shift, loses to 5D shift) 3 is arguable, because 2A often trades with 5D shift to [w]j.B on normal block, and most definitely wins on instant block. So we're basically talking about on-hit situations here, otherwise the whole scenario becomes murky. What qualifies as Valk's "real" pressure? I know repetitive 236A pressure is not very legit against better players, but the 6B and 6C variants don't seem much better for transformation-based mixups, which is part of the reason I feel Valk is somewhat overrated. People gawk at his damage, but honestly, I think IB -> mash defeats a lot of his offense.

Truth. Same reason I wanna do some recording for BB. I've got some cool stuff. -

Man stop fooling yourself, if a new GG came out you'd be all about that. :D -

Does anyone have equipment to capture video? I'm itching to record some BB-related stuff. -
Depends, I've had 5A trade with [w]j.B after transform on hit. j.A should work fine though. Also, on hit, if you suspect 3D cancel, you can 2A to stop that clean. On block, you can 2A as well, and if they 4D or 7D cancel to make 2A whiff, you have time to 5A as they come back in.
-
Mash 5A -> wolf dodges with 7D or 4D -> continue mashing 5A will probably still work. It actually works better if the Valk just does fastest wolf j.A or j.B after a transform without tricky movement, since there is a much smaller gap for interruption.

Yo dude, you have PSN or XBL? If you're on PSN, we need to get up and play. Might already have you on my friend's list, I forgot.
-
I personally also think it's 5-5 and comes down to whoever gets the first hit, though I need to play some better Valks. I think Ragna has an advantage in that he's not as free on defense as Valk is. Conversely, Valk does way more damage...but they both have shit life and Ragna has life regain, sooooooo I dunno. Guardian, how do you feel about Ragna mashing 5A against transformation mixups? From training mode testing, it seems like that pretty much shuts down anything Valk might want to do, but I could be testing it wrong.

Multiple setups. The single combo by itself? Sure, nothing special about it. But there are other applications. Like I said, more practical than it seems.

More practical than it seems, actually. Unfortunately, only seems to work on the 4 characters already mentioned (Rachel, Tao, Tager, Hakumen). Sad, but makes those matchups slightly more interesting.

Who knows, the game may come out and Ragna will have something stupid broke, but it's whatever. Mostly just, every time I look, there's another nerf, another useless change, almost nothing GOOD that has me excited. The two coolest/best changes on that list are 2B-5B gatling and 5B being air unblockable. Almost everything else is bad. -

Ok, so just for jokes, I did a cumulative change list, keeping in mind that loketest changes are cumulative. Ragna: *Belial Edge hitstop changed +6A faster, 5A-6A works on air opponent +5B air unblockable +2B-5B gatling added +5C/2C-6A gatling added +2C-5C gatling added +6C attack level increased +2D has better proration +(Blood Kain) 6D, 6D combos +ID causes smaller wall bounce, can combo after +Dead Spike makes opponent fly straight up on air hit +Dead Spike more untechable time on airborne opponent, more hitstop +22C damage increased to 600 -Overall damage tweaked/nerfed -6A range reduced -6A no longer gatlings to anything -2B-6A gatling removed -5C hits later (slower startup or less active frames) -2C slower -3C is techable -5D no longer floats on ground hit -2B does not connect after 2D -2D no longer removes guard primer -Forward throw wallbounds -GH causes slight ground bounce -GH -> Spin Kick floats higher, more untechable time, highjump -> combo possible but more difficult -Belial Edge bounces higher, more difficult to combo after -Belial Edge level reduced, less untechable time -Belial causes wallbound, midscreen followup may be impossible -22C no longer +frames -Carnage Scissors sends opponent spinning away, worse proration, techable -CS has more recovery on second hit, last until opponent hits ground From reading all that, I just don't like the image of Ragna that pops up. I mean, there are maybe a couple of changes that I really like, the rest are either weird/useless, or really bad. That being said, I'll definitely play him first just to get a feel for it, but yeah, things aren't looking good. I'd probably go Hazama or Valk at this rate. -

Definitely a fun tournament, I'm very happy with how I did overall. GGs to everyone, especially Austin and Matt. I hope everyone levels up for the next one! Charlotte players need to get on Dustloop if they aren't already. Also, if you have PSN, get at me for online training. -
BE combos push to corner in general, plus you can use the 6A -> hj.D, JC j.C -> BE variation of Double BE combos more often with the 2B pickup.
