Not only is j.C fuzzy possible, it's pretty easy. Making j.C jump cancel on block had to be one of the greatest things for Valk, that move is gdlk. Working on a corner combo based on the combos I listed earlier, you can do something a little stronger since you don't have to worry about landing far away after the RC.

double post So I found out you can RC the recovery pose of j.236236C where Valkenhayn stands there after landing from his last attack. End result is with 100% heat, you can get a nice combo after j.C. j.C -> j.236236C -> RC, dash 2B-5C -> HJC, hj.B -> j.214B -> 9D, [w]j.A -> [w]j.236A -> [w]j.236B -> [w]j.5C -> 5D, j.B -> JC, j.B-C This deals 5101 dmg and is relatively easy. You build back 27 heat from this combo. j.C -> j.236236C -> RC+D, [w]5C -> 5D, 2C-6B, 2C -> JC, j.D, [w]j.A-A-A -> [w]j.236A -> [w]j.236B -> [w]j.5C -> 5D, j.B -> j.214B -> 9D, 5D, j.B -> JC, j.B-C This one is much more difficult, but deals 6043 dmg and gets back 34 heat. The RC+D means press all four buttons to RC so that you immediately shift forms after RCing. There is a slight delay after RCing and shifting before you can do [w]5C, the next part is similar to Challenge 9 where you have to cancel wolf quickly to land 2C after the command grab. The rest of the combo mimics that challenge as well.

I would say it's probably worth it in both situations, provided the CS is ending a combo. ID combo is good for building meter, but the damage is not that impressive usually, so going for the reset is probably a good call. With a straightforward character like Ragna, it pays to have as many ambiguous setups as possible.

Set computer to crouching -> block all and disable guard switching. 5B(blocked), JC to instant j.C will hit crouching opponents. With meter this makes 5B-2B/5B-3C or 5B -> j.C a legitimate 50/50 for high or low guard. With meter, j.C -> j.236236C for 2923 dmg. This is verifiable as well, so if life is low, you have an easy way to kill someone who doesn't know which way to block. If they block correctly, j.C can be jump canceled on guard, so you can get away safely. Mix up with 2B or 3C and do combos from there (2B is probably more flexible, but much harder to do strong combos off of from my limited practice). 2A is also JCable on block, so you can run the same mixup, which is probably scarier given that 2A has less pushout and you still have the option of chaining to 5B from 2A, making the mixup more ambiguous. For when you don't have meter, I've been working on more sophisticated shift-based mixups. Canceling j.C into j.214B and then instantly canceling into wolf can be very ambiguous. Looks something like this: 5B(blocked) -> j.C~j.214B~3D... Options include: 1. [w]j.A or [w]j.B for high as you fall (can combo or use as a tick for [w]236D) 2. land and [w]5A for low 3. land and [w]236D to throw These are really basic and there are probably some other options involving different movements to bait certain things or create crossups. These probably work best if j.C hits. Testing with Ragna, I have yet to find a way to bait an ID with this setup. Against characters with certain reversals it may not be very useful.

Well, it looks like Valkenhayn's USA release is totally up in the air at this point. Apparently we were SUPPOSED to get him next week (9/28), but that has now been delayed...indefinitely? Or at least, ASW has made no mention of when he'll be available.

Well, like I was saying, a lot of it depends on the starter in question. Some examples: 2B-3C, 2B-5C, HJC hj.C-D, JC j.C -> BE, dash 6D-j.D, JC j.C -> BE, dash 5D -> 22C 3244 dmg, 47 heat 2B-3C, 2B-5C, HJC hj.C-D, JC j.C -> BE, dash 5D -> 22C, dash 5B-3C -> 22C 3577 dmg, 41 heat (small damage increase, small heat decrease) 2B-3C -> 22C, dash 5B-5D, DC, 6A, JC j.C, JC j.C -> BE, dash 6D-j.C, JC j.C -> BE, dash 5D -> 22C 3800 dmg, 52 heat (significant damage increase and slight heat increase) 2B-3C -> 22C, dash 5B-5D, DC, 6A, HJC hj.C-D, JC j.C -> BE, dash 22C, dash 5B-3C -> 22C 4008 dmg, 43 heat (very slight increase to above combo, significant heat decrease) Range makes a difference too. There are some other examples I'm working on, mostly the ones like the third combo which is sort of a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too scenario.

Depends, I practiced some earlier today and I found that while it is hard, it's not THAT hard and it's occasionally worth it. Specific example would be off of 2B. 2B-3C into 2B pickup does about 3.2k, whereas: 2B-3C -> 22C, dash 5B-5D, DC, 6A, HJC hj.C-D, JC j.C -> BE, dash 22C, dash 5B-3C -> 22C Does 4k. I'm experimenting with other combos right now, I would say if you've got the execution and you want to max out your damage, it's worth learning.

You can buffer the dash very early after 22C, but you have to time the 5B so that you execute it just as you recover from 22C. I tried cheating by buffering dash early and then pressing and HOLDING 5B to take advantage of the 5-frame buffer window on button presses. Unfortunately, end result of that was simply getting a 5B with no dash.

You can do the same thing with CID in the corner. Midscreen you can do CID on CH and RC second hit, then dash up juggle with 2C-5D into etc etc etc

Well basically if the attack in question has head attribute only, it'll lose to head invincibility, but if the attack has another attribute like body, it can still hit you.

Regardless, I kinda know that match from having to play bad online Tager so much, because Tager is god tier online. If I can keep you out, you really can't win. You have to start your mixup and then just kill me. 6A to stop backdash, BTW. You have a 3-way between 6A, Collider and Tager Driver for your mixup. Add in baiting reversals as necessary. You can also try to reset pressure by starting with 5A and going into more mixups from there. Wakeup GETB is bad, learn to IB and do it in between people's strings for maximum butthurt.

See, I'm well aware of this situation. But you want to know a key difference between me and Ed? I accepted that I didn't like how my behavior was affecting my personal relationships with my friends, and thus I made an effort to change. Ed basically refuses to accept any responsibility, and has repeatedly said he doesn't give a fuck, just like the last time I was at Jason's. It's easy to have a high tolerance for bullshit when it's not directed at you. You know, like having a guy around who you can commiserate with because you're both so "disliked", apparently. Ed has a Bachelor's in psychology, dude. He's pretty good at manipulating people. All he has to do is see that you get picked on and just stick up for you when others won't. I'll tell you something my dad told me. Brent picks on me a fair bit, and gives me shit about the decisions I make. After a while it got irritating, so one day I was talking to my dad and I told him about it. He told me, "the person who is nice to you and tries to make you like him is not your friend." Your real friends will tell you when you're fucking up, because they care about you. Period. Ed doesn't care about you. Ed wants you as a crony. And you're doing exactly what he wants, right now, whether you realize it or not.

For one, you play games Ed actually cares about and beat him at them. SF4 doesn't count because he can always rationalize it as the game sucking, since that's his default stance anyway. You've also banned him from your household. Overall, you've basically displayed that you won't put up with his nonsense, which automatically puts you on his shitlist. He also thinks you're a smartass, which is true, but unlike Ed, most of the community doesn't hold that against you.
