  1. After watching the videos, in general, I think that's how we're supposed to play Naoto in general. Using Naoto's natural advantage to the fullest while not being braindead about it. I notice how Denpa is setting traps at the "ideal" time, meaning he only sets traps when he knows his opponent won't get to him, plus he's setting traps at different heights to keep his opponent guessing, rather than just "jump > set trap" like I usually do which is a big no no. Also, I notice how Denpa sometimes cancels his Aim stance early if his opponent dodges the first 2-3 shots, which is smart since he doesn't want to risk Naoto getting hit and that the only time he actually gets into range is when he knows his opponent will be forced to block a trap he previously set. Most importantly, Denpa is being mobile instead of just sitting in one spot.
  2. Most likely he's talking about the dive? Duck then do 2B for a CH anti air combo and convert accordingly.
  3. I suppose I can call them tomorrow and see what's up and it seems like another good place too, it's ACTUALLY less than 30 minutes away from my place. And anybody want to play online tonight? I need to keep losing playing to get better fundamentals.
  4. Welp. Just went 1-10 against a friend of mine who barely plays but has better fundamentals than I do. I feel that this is something that I can't just "lose it off" and that I need to research on. #stayfree
  5. It's funny because I've always known Mr. Wizard to be one of the more civil and sophisticated people of the FGC for a while, and it's quite sad to his true colors exposed like this.
  6. I take it staggering 5AA isn't a good idea? I keep getting F-Action'd. And my issue is trying to get into 5A range but almost everybody has better normals to keep Naoto out. I can't keep relying on shooting bullets forever because people are starting to get around it, maybe I should lay more air traps though.
  7. That's your problem. Change the second 5B to 5AA and add a 2B in between [2C] and 5C. Also, is it just me, or does it feel like that Naoto's 5A is one of the worst in the game? I could barely have 5A land on anybody during the offline session I just came back to, making me resort to 5C and 2C footsies but then the guys in my scene are starting to catch up to it and now it's not working like it did before. Maybe it's because I'm still trying to shake off my autopilot pressure but yeah, it feels like I've hit a plateau with Naoto as everybody is blocking everything I throw at them and none of my mixups are working.
  8. Just made it back home safely. Although it was hot, stuffy, and disorganized, it was also a lot of fun. It was cool seeing a number of you guys make it out and supporting P4A and I'm starting to get an idea on what I need to improve on, I just need to go do some research and have countless more matches with you guys, online or offline so that I can get better. And a big shoutouts to B-RAi for inviting us, we should also try to make it to TTF as well. Oh and shoutouts to Roa for going out of his way to purchase a $20 HDMI cable for his setup since he left his at home.
  9. Yes! I need that Labrys matchup experience!
  10. Congratulations guys! We did it!
  11. Do note that you may have somewhat of a hard time performing it on Mitsuru as opposed to Yu, Kanji, Akihiko, etc. due to Mitsu's weird ass hitbox where you have to delay the C shots just a tiny bit. Who knows, there may be other characters where you have to change up the timing of certain parts a bit.
  12. Completely understandable. And it goes without saying that if anybody needs to use my PS3 TE Chun Li stick, I'd be happy to let them use it. Anyway, I hope nothing comes up and I'll be able to go.
  13. Good shit Zeromus, and as for punishing obvious F-Actions in the corner, this should be our go to combo all the time. Just grinded for about an hour for this and it's not as bad as I thought it is. The hardest parts I would say is buffering the bullets into Mudoon (236B~CCCCC236236D) and actually having 2B > 5B > 5C hit by having 2B hit at the correct height but if you can get them down consistently then you're in good shape. But if anybody can come up with an easier FC that can do around 9-10K then be my guess.
  14. Yes from 6-10 pm we're going to meetup at SD's new venue for FGs. http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/san-diego-saltmines-mira-mesa-kearny-mesa-casuals.165396/ Low mid tier for life. #hipster
  15. No more Yu? Hell yes! For some reason, I can manage Mitsurus more than Yus. And cool that shtkn's going, I guess that means you can bring Watermelonz as well? Gonna do my best to go as well.
  16. Tried out Kyle's Oki setups myself and it's something to be wary of if you're opponent is being honest. Although don't expect to pull this off online where people mash DP and hope it sticks. And speaking of Oki, I'm having a hard time "timing" the jump after 5AAA. I feel that I'm jumping too late and I have no idea how these Japanese players are able to jump right after the 3rd A for Oki.
  17. Basically if you aren't zoning him out and AAing his Bet Ya Can't Take This! attempts with converted 2Bs then you're doing something wrong. Also don't let him touch you once, or else you'll be forced to deal with his mixup which is less straightforward than the rest of the cast. Will elaborate on this later.
  18. Jesus Christ so many 360 setups. I suppose you guys wouldn't mind if I borrow one of your 360 sticks would you? And I just went 2-10 against glod's Kanji, what the hell happened to me? I should've stopped being nice and completely zoned you out lol.
  19. Now the question is who will be bringing setups for P4A? As much as I'd love to bring my PS3, I don't have a monitor unfortunately.
  20. Hmm, I'll try to make it out, I don't think I have plans on Monday.
  21. I got hatemail too, but from a Kanji player who beat me with lucky super grabs who complained that I kept playing keepaway with Naoto's bullets...... does that count?
  22. Better trap placement, smart shooting and mid-range pokes while staying out of the air is all she can do right now. Has worked pretty well with me so far. Labrys only shines when she's in your face so why give her that advantage? So you can be fancy with Naoto? Naoto would criticize that judgement as uncharacteristic of a detective.
  23. Ugh, I'm in need of some real P4A. Will the room be up tomorrow around noontime Pacific time? Don't worry, I'll be using wired.
  24. Hell, I'm scared to do meaty Oki on netplay because people are just so damn courageous with their easy to perform, motionless universal reversals. It's like these people magically know when I'm baiting it, and when I'm not. So for now, it's just pew pew pew and midrange pokes for me.
  25. For now, I'm guessing no, because it seems that trap oki only works if you make the opponent scared of your Naoto, which is almost impossible online because everybody is being a mashy disrespectful fuck right now. /rant
