  1. I agree with WUT as far as the tone in concerned. It became condescending or aggressive for nothing. The main disrespect I see in the last posts isn't in the "love for the game one has/doesn't have" but in some harsh statements directed toward him or more subtle notes still as belittling. It may not be the initial though but it sounds like it. Let's keep discussing like gentlemen and not make Dustloop into a battlefield. It already happens too much on DL. No need to be disdainful or anything, I do hope everybody is open-minded and mature enough to avoid personal pokes and to discuss and not just randomly listing points without really trying to understand the others point of view, even if you disagree. Of course none would dare flaming or trolling, it is serious business here or insert any trendy "meme". Enough with the pretentious, generic and boring old man talking stuff, back to the topic. Indeed, seeding introduces a bias as there is a decision made to choose the top players. While it could be considered a logical rule should it happen in a regular tournament with simple rules like taking as top players those that ranked best to the previous iteration, this can't be applied to 1-shot tournaments or those held not frequently enough to have a relevant ranking. It also supposes most of the players will be the same and almost none will be missing. That makes it viable for local tournaments mostly. Keep in mind as it may be "fair" in term of drawing, of brackets, it still can be unfair considering other aspects such as skill (this was already covered, "good" players elminating each others early while "not as good" other players ranking better), location (already covered too, it sure pains a lot after having traveled miles and miles to get stuck with your own crew in the same group) But, it can be understable that seeing some "not so good" players ranking high because the drawing gave him a good path is irritating as people would judge "he did not deserve to rank as high, he got through only thanks to luck". Well, if you turn things to the opposite side, a "not so good" player can also wonder why would he be cannon fodder for the seeded top players ? Seeding indeed help the outcome being the one "people would think of according to the estimated and respective level" of the players attending the event. I'd say seeding would be the best if such an reliable and worldwide acknowledged way of ranking all of the contestants exists, but it does not. I can't help to think seeding or not, there will always be some kind of unfairness but I'd rather have the one based on drawing (meaning total equity at the beginning) than a list of chosen people according to specific criteria (alleged skill, location, etc). One final word if I may have your attention a little bit more, even though, out of fairness and respect for my opponents, whether better or worse than me, I prefer randomly generated brackets, I'd say that a true player should be able to face any opponent in any situation. Endlessly whining about unfairness leads to nothing or maybe flame topics on DL haha ! Hence I don't really mind if there is a "constructive" seeding or not as both are fine, having pros and cons that don't make one "naturally" better than the other. Except when there is shady stuff/seeding going on to alter the results. Though I only read of such misbehaviors here in DL, it did not happen in Europe - at least the GG part in the many events I had the delight to attend. Maybe it is because we're all gentlemen here ! Just kidding
  2. Oopsie, I stand corrected then, thanks all ! Sorry Nazgul and Stark for the misinformation. That makes the input easier this way.
  3. Indeed, like Stark said, except the beginning part that should be : "Jump with 8 then immediately roll it to and hold 7 (or 4 if you prefer) and blahblah". For instance : 8~[7+P+K]
  4. Killerwatt, you mean Rakusyo (as written ingame)/Rakushyo. Not necessarily, she could also walk forward a little before SB Johnny's 5HS. But let's not stray too much from the original "vs May" discussion shall we.
  5. Bu-ravoh ! I dare say "Bu-ravoh da ze" haha ! Sorry, couldn't be more constructive than the random French joke as I can't access Youtube and such therefore couldn't watch your Combo Movie but kudos for it and keeping the May scene alive bros.
  6. Wow, if you get SB'ed a lot during the start of a match, it sure means you are getting too predictable ! Nevertheless it shouldn't be too bad even if she SB as you can MC it and she should be too far to punish. This can get you killed as a at least decent May player will use it from far away enough no to be thrown. Besides, May can do it on your wakeup and time it so you don't have time to hit her, except with the OD. In that case, 1-f jump or backdash are better solution if you can't/don't want to distinguish the 5D/[5D] (not 2D or I misunderstood you). Trying to hit/grab someone as they try some tick throw setup can be dangerous depending on the setup and your guard (IB, SB, FD or normal). Besides, if she 5K, it will stuff you as it is unthrowable. It may be best sometimes to evade (1-f jump or backdash). Most of the time I'd rather be safe than sorry and prefer evading then go back to zoning rather than try a lucky hit (random hit, vive les pif mes amis) in her strings. But once again, that is not an absolute rule "always do this, never do that" as she has counter-measure, she could also just run then either throw/airthrow you.
  7. Even if it is overkill, any SB is welcome could you perform them with 100% success and not screw afterward (some people SB but are so astonished they do nothing afterward or do silly stuff like mashing throw even if there are too far away). The problem is getting those 100%. You should weigh the pros and the cons according to your own rate of success, what you can gain if you succeed and important what you can lose (waht the opponent can do) if you fail. Killerwatt, you may want to remove the webs (what you call blood traps) first before the trees if the TE player put some above the trees. You can do so with mostly MF-P(1), back, up or front, falling or ascending j.S (those two pokes allow you to remove them from far away but don't be predictable as he can preemptive EXE beast your MF for instance) or jump toward them and IB/SB then jump again or AD (blocking in the air resets your jump option but IB/SB recovers fast enough for you to use, the blockstun won't force you to land), not necessarily toward the opponnent, you can jump/AD backwards. Be careful as depending on your height and distance, he can do some ground-based move or a ground GD (you'll have to FD those) or BL during your jump hit. You have to remove the traps while keeping in mind : - where are all the traps (webs + trees) - Testament's position, what he is up to Don't focus too much nor go blindly into removing them without paying attention to those. And learn to move, to "flow", sometimes empty jumps (for instance jump forward then d.jump backward), sometimes just walking, etc. You may want to browse through the "AC Match-up thread", the one we used back when there were no match-up sub-forum, only one topic for that : http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3019 The firsts posts are supposed to gather all relevant posts but they aren't to date. The whole thread however may contain useful stuff not pasted in the now specific sub-topic.
  8. Glad you understand it now but just for the record, it is a kind of JI called solo-JI where you trick the system thinking you jump/super jump while staying on the ground, performing a ground special while gaining jump/SJ options. Read carefully the solo-JI point in the AC Players Guide. And yes, as stated previously, it works for DBT, KJT, DBT~DB and KJT~KJ, none of them having auto-JI properties. Auto-JI and solo-JI are 2 different things.
  9. "can someone explain how he did a standalone DBT DB FRC and air dashed without hitting the ground or doing a KJ FRC?" You meant "why" then, don't you ? Maybe you can put a transcription of the full mix-up and what are the opponent position (crouch/standing, facing left then being crossed-up etc.) and reactions, specially after the airdash, so that we can better understand what you are talking about, that would avoid confusion. EDIT : Just read your edit. Well, your question is about how, execution-wise then, my bad. Plain 629S~S works fine for me though unfortunately I can't perform it with 100% success. Throwing a coin beforehand does not change a thing (or I missed something too). The drawback is you can only AD only since this way you enter not a jump but a superjump as the input of the motion is fast (29 in the 629 motion is the SJ part). You can try 6239S~S or 6239S~S with a certain timing, IIRC a little slow but by pressing the S button before leaving the ground. You'll be able to jump or airdash this time. Whatever the version, it is all about timing and you may need some practice. Hope that helps.
  10. Can't watch the video but I'm assuming you are talking about solo-Jump Installing since you specified "standalone" as in "no gatling beforehand". More details on > the appropriate part in the AC Players Guide <. Note that after a KJ FRC as a follow-up of KJT, you don't have Jump/airdash options after the FRC if you don't JI. So for both DBT~DB and KJT~KJ, you'll have to JI it in order to do a jump/AD after the FRC. BUT, as a mid-air special meaning not a follow-up of the Transport, KJ (and only KJ, not DB) will grant you this additional jump/AD option after FRC/RCing it. EDIT : on your example, that may be something like : 629S~S FRC, 66 (airdash) etc. Besides, this JI principle holds true for the Transports (without the followup). You won't be able to jump or AD after FRCing the DBT or KJT if you don't JI them.
  11. Once again, just randomly passing by. Hsien > By reading Frank the Tank's post, one could think SB3 is an event. A quick look at the oh so well named even announcements forums and this event popped up : 10/18-19/08 - Columbus, OH - Season's Beatings III So SB3 has a high probability of being the aforementioned Season's Beating III. You'll have further details there. Nah, sorry to tease you but a little search doesn't harm, even members accustomed to the forums tend to forget it. About 80 pre-registered GGAC players, this event looks gorgeous but let's not stray off-topic.
  12. Hi there ! Taken from > Accent Core System Data <, Anji's backdash lasts 16 frames but only has 9 frames of invulnerability. It means you become vulnerable for 7 frames during the end of your BD. Be sure to read it, it contains useful informations gathered by the nice people of DL. Though I don't play Anji, I wouldn't rate it as crap. Sure it is not the best but still it is okay, you can evade stuff. Though, Anji may have better tools, you are the pros there.
  13. http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=YRP01ACY There you go Johnny bro ! Have fun.
  14. Yup Donutholes, you can throw > j.PKSDE Potemkin either midscreen or in the corner but KPSDE for midscreen is more comfortable to me, it fits my timing better. Against PO, learning to efficiently move, zone, escape his pressure, spot SlideHead on reaction and act accordingly, press him while knowing how to stuff reversal PB, his backdashes or hammerfall attempts is also important, scoring a 1-hit won't lead you anywhere if he punishes you on his wakeup or worse if you don't manage to score a single hit or throw ! Anyway, sorry for the off-topic, bacl to the current discussion. Genesis, sorry if that sounds harsh but are you even paying attention to what people are answering you ? It seems like you are asking questions, some members reply, you ask another one without any feedback. The reproach is not about asking questions, that is the purpose of a forum, it is about the lack of feedback. Anyway, for your last question, it depends on the distance where your MF-S(2) hits (assuming you are talking about MF-S(2)) and on the character you are facing. After very little research, what you should do before everything, it seems there is a topic concerning GGAC Johnny combo. In particular the 8th page : http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3029&page=8 4r5 spend some time writing combos so you can try them. Though in actual match it won't always hit a starting range, that is a good way for you to practice them in training mode. Most of the time after a MF-S(2), one would either want : - to jump and hit with crossup or not j.K (often j.K but sometimes j.P) then aircombo or - to stay on the ground and hit with c.S (crossup or not) then go into aircombo. You can't juggle with 5P then go into aircombo, it does not link.
  15. It is already have been written somewhere here on Dustloop forums but unable to find it in a short time, here is a quick answer. If you plan on playing on arcade stick, use the official layout ! Seeing you have 8 buttons, you can map them like : Most common : X - K - S- HS X - P - T - D Or : K - S- HS - X P - T - D - X It depends if you want to have the empty buttons on the left or on the right. T is Taunt, you can map it elsewhere than between Punch and Dust if you wish/have trouble with it/press it by mistake. On a side note, remember you have to FRC DBT and KJT only with P+K+HS. Using S amongst the 3 FRC buttons will activate the follow-up instead of FRC the Transport.
  16. Can't answer your previous question as I use another throw combo on PO : Midscreen : Throw j.K, j.P, j.S, j.D, Ensenga 1-hit Corner : Throw j.P, j.K, j.S, j.D, Ensenga 1-hit Both have a specific timing. Anyway, never used the one you have trouble with, sorry for not being able to help you but someone will surely answer. For you last 2 questions : 1) kinda the same as your TK DB or TK KJ, you can perform TK Ensenga. While on the ground, do 412369+HS. There is a timing for TK moves, just practice. 2) It depends on the player and the condition. From neutral position, for instance during opponent wake-up, you can perform TK DB as you said, meaning 23698S. I'd suggest 2369S instead but if 23698S works for you and 2369S doesn't, that's no biggie at all. Same thing for TK KJ, you don't have to press the 8 (up) direction. During a string/combo, I'd rather use a kind of Jump Install timing only delaying the press of the button S. If you aren't accustomed to JI, forget this note about the timing. Let's use an exemple, near corner : blah any string into MF-K(2) then dash > 6HS > TK KJ FRC > blah turned into numeric notation, it becomes : ... > 236K > 66 > 6HS > 8 (or 9 if you want your TK KJ to have some forward momentum thanks to 9 being a forward jump) > 214S ... The last 214S is performed while JO is still on the ground but almost immediatly BEFORE you press the S button he'll begin to jump. As already stated, there is a timing for that. If TK,you should not see JO jump after the 6HS, as as soon as he is supposed to be airborne the KJ move would be triggered.
  17. OBJECTION da ze ! Their are holes in your donut Mister Johnny's Instant Kill (press P+K+S+HS then 236236H) is "Joker Trick" while "Killer Joker" is the name of his air special, performed either 214S in the air or the follow-up part in the ground special 421S~S. Even if it is true and heartbreaking, JO being low-tier is unimportant, the game won't change soon. Either accept it or change character. Know your weaknesses (for the char but also for the player), know your strengths but also the ones (weak and strong points) of your opponent and play accordingly. What matters is finding how to beat the crap out of your opponent, no matter his tier. It is up to you to make him god-tier, even if it asks lot of skill, time, effort and such. Not an easy task but that's the way it is. Being a sexy pirate is tough but coolness has a price.
  18. Haha, I've been 4rFooled, no wonder I couldn't perform the magical dash > OD no matter how long I tried ! Nonetheless, seeing how confident you were back when we discussed about it, I thought you could perform it consistently...
  19. Cheesestick = Divine Blade da ze !
  20. Haha, no harm and no offense, sorry if I sounded rude, it is just that I wanted to shed some light on it as it could have been perceived as boastful while you certainly did not meant it. And fortunately for me as should it be about results I would not belong there. Well played to all of you, congrats making it this far and performing well. Too bad Raekwon, you almost got them, damn few tidbits of life of their last player. Did not get to play nor talk that much with any of you (official and unofficial US) but seeing ElvenShadow totally wasted and during the second party and wiping his spilled beer was priceless. Only played 2 or 3 matches against him few days before, his very solid Faust owned me for free. Dude, I am going to Nara as you told us, cute animals for the win. Take care all.
  21. How weird, there aren't any pics of the second party... What happened ? Mwahahaaah ! Just for the record, every GG player was invited to the parties, not just the American team because of their results or whatnot. That's why people like the foreign teams US, Europe, Shanghai etc. but also people who did not take part in the tournament like Caer (Sweden) and me (France) for instance or non-players friends of GG players were also there.
  22. I usually don't (can't) watch movies so I can't recognize his playstyle but the speaker seems to say the Johnny player's name is Hiiro.
  23. Oopsie, I meant "I also block low most of the time during his lockdown", hence the "also" as you do that too. I shouldn't write posts while doing something else. Sorry if I misunderstood you, I was talking about the first part, when both of you are across the screen. Sure, if you see the opportunity to take lil ED with a coin by all means do so then RTSD but when both of you are across the screen, that is not that free. In fact, they don't really get around, they can just wait for you either to waste your coins or for you to close the gap (something you should avoid if he has lil ED out). Should it last too long, he will then call it back before the gauge reaches zero in order to refill it faster and he will be ready for your attack with AA and such. Now it also depends who has more life between the two players, if he has the advantage or not. Or they can try to initiate the attack and that meets what you said. Backdashing before the second hit of mawaru is not a panacea, just one of your options amongst the others (IB, FD, SB, 1f jump which you can combine depending on what you want etc). It has risks but it may be the best solution sometimes. I know I use it too much in this match-up though.
  24. Don't always throw coin as a starter as he can run > 2D you. Then you know the "drill" when he gets a knockdown with a full lil' Ed gauge. His 2S can stuff many of your starters, beware. When blocking (preferably not in the corner), I often backdash between the two hits of mawaru (IB the first hit helps). Of course, if you do that too often the Eddie player will find a way to get you, such as run > 623S. Yep, I also block high most of the time during his lockdown, then backdash when I have the chance, be cautious of his 6K overhead but also of "breaks", stops in his attacks. This means he is gonna special throw you. Good ED players won't let lil Eddie get stuffed by a coin. They will make him going back and forth, just outside of a coin range, making it hard to get rid of it. Then he will either go for attack or call it back to refill lil' Ed gauge. Already mentioned but if you can consistently do the corner [MF-K(2) > coin > IAD combo into 1-hit > 214P] loop on him, that is a great asset in this match-up. Unfortunately, I'm far from doing that 100% of the time yet but I've seen good JO players, whether Japanese or not do that, leading them to victory against good ED players.
  25. Wild guess : Mac Pork are pork burgers, kinda like Mac Chicken only with pork. A little late but... Snus, haha ! I tried it some times ago in Sweden thanks to my Norway friends Nattak and Nukleuz and wow, when you are sleep deprived and haven't eaten, it really gets into your brain fast. Specially if you keep it a long time, thinking it will melt. Isn't it, Probe ? ^_^ Snus, drugs, blood in poo, love affairs, this is getting even more interesting !
